    Thanks for sharing .. There is some hard baked on sludge there not horrible but not good either - Looks like the VW "Recommended" 10k oil changes - 5k is better especially when you have over 100k because of Blow By. The longer oil changes make the gasket brittle faster. They put the PCV Valve in the Valve Cover and make it out of plastic so they can sell you a new valve cover over $300. Money Maker. At least VW made it "Serviceable" and being able to replace the PCV (Diaphragm)...... BMW welds that PCV Cap on. You can find the Diaphragm but you end up destroying the valve cover by cracking the plastic remover that cap.......Not to mention that cover is a nightmare to get off especially the 1st time you do it.

    Did you happen to put any gasket sealer on the valve cover gasket?

      I did a few dabs near the bolt heads. But other than that no. It really shouldn't be needed. And use it sparingly. You don't want it to squeeze out into the engine.

      When you say pcv valve change do you mean just the diaphragm or the valve cover?

    How did you get the cover off around that pipe? I'm stuck. I have a 2013 Golf 2.5 and the pipe is preventing me from lifting it's straight off

      You just need to either pull it up or bend the pipe with a screw driver ever so slightly. Sorry for the late response. I hope this helps.

    Do you know the torque specs by any chance ?

    • @Polarisxcr700
      @Polarisxcr700  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do not. Look them up on one of the VW forums. I just tightened them to what I felt was correct. I have also been working on engine s for almost 20 years. So I have a good sense of what too tight or not tight enough is. I have not had any leaks or issues doing it this way. Of course, certain things require much more attention to TQ specs. Most important thing it torquing them down in an inside to outside pattern.

      From the VW repair guide, the torque spec is 10 Nm.

    Imagine not properly torquing your plastic valve cover
