When you say, “you should get this tool,” it would be very helpful, if you mention the name of the tool. The one you tightened the fuel lines with, is something I’ve never seen before, in my life.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. Do you have to do anything special to change the injector o-rings or copper washers? Did you do anything to try to clean the injectors other than an external wipe-down?
I just did this today. Nothing special. I just used a small pick to pull the o rings and a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the copper washers off then just run the o ring back on and press the washer on with my hands. I used a pick and cleaned all the carbon off under where the washer goes and used a high grit sand paper to clean the carbon off the tips. The small 0 rings in the kit are for the return lines. Be careful tightening the valve cover bolts. I broke two off today but was able to get them out of the head and had extra bolts. Just get them nice and snug and don't go any further. I believe the internet says the torque spec is 9 Newton meters but mine broke before I could to 9nm.
@@marknewcomb375 Thanks. The kit I bought didn't include the o-rings for the return lines, so I will need to pick up a set of them before I get started.
Is it recommended to unhook the battery cables while doing this? Also did you have to pull the fuel pump relay and turn the engine over a few times to relieve the pressure from the fuel lines? I'm replacing the valve cover gasket on my brother-in-laws passat next week. Same exact car. Have plenty of experience on domestic vehicles but none on German.
Would you have the part # for those valve cover grommets that the fuel injectors go in? And what is the size of that fuel line tool? I'm seeing 19mm is common, but don't want to assume.

One of the lines I think it’s the return you forgot the put the clamp back on. Great job and great video
Thanks. I ended up catching that after I test drove my car.
Good eye

Thank you for the video!

Honestly, none of that was necessary. There wasn't any pressure in the fuel lines.

Can you give part number or link for the fuel injector removal tool? Thanks
