Haha dude Perrin is gonna watch this video and be like "did you even follow the directions ?!" I didn't cut the tabs. I feel like I did something wrong 🤣
This and the brass shifter bushing were two of the best, most noticeable mods I did to my VA. Looking forward to getting one ordered for my VB! Thanks for the great install video, as always.
@@VBFullSend dude when I got the shift plate my buddy and I were gonna do it. I bought more jack stands and a low pro jack. We got under it but it was like 19degrees so those bolts were SOLID and we didn't have an impact gun. I was like "alright, pack it up!"
The first mod I did to my '22 was install a Perrin shift stop. Mine doesn't have the new fore/aft stops on it. That looks like a cool feature if it doesn't get knocked out of place by it getting hit every shift. One suggestion I would make- if your going to try and adjust the factory plastic stop for the 5/6 side use a simple feeler gauge to messure the factory clearance. It's tricky to get right and my shifter (OE STI) locked up on me while working on it. Glad I had an idea what it was original to go back to it and start over. You might also like a better pitch stop with all the racing down in Mexico your doing now. I installed the only slightly stiffer Group N one because I wanted it to look stock and also to avoid any NVH and it did make a slight difference in shift feel without the engine rocking so much. I suspect there was probably a Perrin pitch stop in that box you couldn't show us? It's an easy job once you get the IC off.
Hahah actually no pitch stop in there. I do want to pick one up and maybe the transmission mount. Dude the stop does not move. It is SOLID. I want to make another video of it like a legit review. It's impressive. It actually shortens the throw as well because the gear stick doesn't go all the way into the shift gate. Just goes enough to get the gear. It really is a Great alternative to getting a short throw shifter stick or shift plate , i feel like. It shortens it maybe another 10% and combined with my STi short throw OEM it feels pretty damn good.
when you put the nut inside the wrench so you didn't drop it..... if you put a piece of black tape on one side of the opening on the wrench, the nut wont fall cause it sticks to the tape. You got it though. Nice job.
Just installed mine today and wow! What a difference this shift stop made it feels like a brand new shifter. I also didn't cut the the tabs I didn't feel it was necessary. I installed the washers and that was ten hardest part lol still not sure what the washers are even for? Would love an explanation from Perrin lol

OK, so I had to get it out of my system today... so went and drove a 2022 WRX Manual. Wow.. that shifter feels like waggling my appendage around in a big paper bag. How the heck did they release it like that lol. (I'm coming from a VA STI). Would definitely need a short shifter to stop myself going nuts. Second, first gear with the low rev limit sucks. Other than that, was pleasant to drive. Very much like the experience I had with the VA WRX (non-STI), it was composed and just went, no drama, very smooth. VB Definitely lacking compared to the STI in terms of excitement though as stock. Seats I feel are actually better and more supportive than my Limited's Recaro's. Dislike the turn signals lol. VB WRX doesn't feel like it is 'anything special' overall. Interior doesn't seem 'cheap' like people make out in reviews. OK, it isn't plush, but it doesn't seem cheap. Oh, I will say, the trans was wayyyy easier to get into gear than my STI, even if it was loose as hell, and clutch was silly light.
All of what you said is right. It's the VA WRX vs VB WRX where the differences live. The factory tune is miles ahead of the VA. The shifter does suck...but the seats are better. The interior has more room. The car is a bit more tail happy ( an issue with the 50/50 but the VA just didn't want to rotate). There's so many other little changes that add up. The engine Is the star here, though. I'm glad you were able to drive it. It's a big departure from what a WRX is. I feel like it sits solidly between the VA WRX and VA STi. Closer to the latter ( minus the brakes..-goodness are they terrible)
