  • As we welcome Team Jumbo-Visma into the SRAM family, the first build had to be special, and who better to start with than Marianne Vos. Her Cervelo R5 looks right at home with RED eTap AXS, but we took it a step further with a gold-colored drivetrain. It seemed only right to give the gift of gold to the greatest of all time.

      Individually great... but when these mechanics have 20 riders, each with 2 road bikes, training bike, TT bike, TT spare etc. etc. it's pretty brutal... especially if you've just switched groupset and wheel sponsor.

    This is amazing. I can't assemble a bicycle because I ride it, so it's very helpful.
    I have used SRAM components when I first started test riding, but I think the transmission is easier to handle than Shimano. (However, at first, the shifting accuracy was poor, and I often brought it to a bicycle shop for adjustment.
    It was Marianne Vos' bike! !

    At 5:09 you can clearly see him wrapping the right side of the bar in anti-clockwise motion. Normally we want it to be wrapped in the same direction of the force we apply when riding and this clearly is opposite. Been noticing this in several other pro-build/mechanic vids as well and wonder if that's a trend or it just doesn't matter that much cuz of the backing adhesive?

    • @SRAM
      @SRAM  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      team mechanics will often know which direction a rider tends to twist their wrist, and change up their wrap direction to compensate for that.

  • @10ktube
    @10ktube ปีที่แล้ว

    As I'm going through a very similar build using Red AXS/HRD, can I make a consumer suggestion? Can you NOT send the brake lines filled with fluid? We have to bleed them anyway after internally routing/cutting everything, and it makes a mess when cutting the lines, routing through the frame, etc. I did tape off the ends of the lines when I routed, but it'd be a heck of a lot cleaner if they just came empty.
    Cool video though, love seeing the builds go so cleanly vs us garage mechanics cursing at the parts, dropping stuff and having it roll away, trying to stage the stuff in the house and having small bits go missing thanks to a cat, etc.

    • @rattila13
      @rattila13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why are you cutting the lines before you route them? They come bled and sealed from the factory, it's super clean and easy to deal with.

      @@rattila13 internal cable routing.

    • @rattila13
      @rattila13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@10ktube Was yours hooked up to the lever? Usually they come with hose connected to the caliper and sealed, and the lever comes disconnected and sealed by a valve in the hose connector. Almost everything I work on is internally routed, and I never have this issue, unless I'm trying to build with a used groupset.

    • @10ktube
      @10ktube ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rattila13 yes. This isn't my first rodeo. Had to disconnect, cut, drip drip drip, route it, redo connection, bleed, etc. Wish it came empty and disconnected.
