- For this Probike Build we visited the Pro Team Jumbo Visma. We had the honor to be there when the team mechanic assembled the brand new Cervelo Soloist for superstar Wout van Aert. The Soloist name is deeply rooted in the history of Cervélo, the Soloist was the weapon of choice of the top riders of Team CSC and the Cervelo Test Team in the past. The new 2023 Soloist strikes the balance between lightweight, comfort and aerodynamic advantages. So the new Soloist is slightly lighter than an S5 but significantly more aerodynamic than the R5. Like the R5 CX, the Soloist gets the threaded BBRIGHT-47 bottom bracket standard.
Wout van Aert is a Belgian professional cyclist who specializes in road racing and cyclo-cross. He was born on September 15, 1994, and began his career as a professional cyclist in 2015. He quickly made a name for himself in the cyclo-cross world, winning the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships three times in a row in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
He also had a lot of success on the road, in 2020 he won his first classic Monument, Strade Bianche, and was 3rd on the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix. He also won the 2020 ITT World Championship. At the 2022 Tour de France he won 3 stages, wore the yellow jersey for 4 days and took the green jersey to Paris.
Van Aert is considered one of the most talented riders of his generation and is considered one of the best classics riders in the world.

nice build! dudes fly was down the whole time.
🤣
Did you watch his fly the whole time?
bike porn! not the other kind... 😉🤣
yeah nobody spotted it unfortunately during filming 🙈 next time we'll keep an eye out for that 😅
🤣😂
The cave is open, but the beast is asleep 😂
I love the way he sets everything up with some amazing tech, and then eyeballs lining up the stem 😂
Yeah, there are a few laser tools out there but nobody uses them 😅
@@roadbikechannel how much for one bro?
Didn't know the pros were riding the Soloist! I love mine. The R5 and S5 always seem to get all the attention. Awesome video!
Fantastic build! The technology they use in Jumbo is really impressive, it looks like a brilliant facility.
That is the best assembly video I've ever seen. No BS goofball nonsense like showing brew an espresso or open a double IPA. A real mechanic doing real work.
🤗
I'm glad to know that background of special records.
That single chainring flex. And I also love how the mechanics could care less about the carbon shavings and dot fluid haha
I noticed this too, thought that's not a R5CX or nobby tires.
Not caring doesn't mean you shouldn't lol
Fantastic video - fascinating to see pro technology up close. The precision on saddle height and angle did make me think of Jonas Vingegard swapping his bike twice with completely different sized teams mates on that stage in the TdF.
Yeah, they pay a lot of attention to bike fitting. During a race, when it's win or loose you'll manage with everything 😉
What a relaxing video to watch of my favorite rider's bike being built. Thank you!
Like watching poetry in motion.... sooo pleasing AND Tranquil 👌🏻😍😍
Nice little Giant
Its so nice to see a good bike, wish to have that kind of bike.
The most beautiful bikes in the pro peleton.
Great build for a legend rider.
Bikes are the best.. thanks for making this video 🤘🏻
Great work guys! Waiting for Paris-Roubaix battle and others spring classic's. 🔥🔥🔥
One of the best builds I have ever seen. Attention to detail at its finest!
Wow.....😍😍😍😍😍😍
Art work
This is so satisfying to watch…..❤
that was so satisfaying
Maravillosa🤤🤤
Very nice 🎉❤
I thought we watched him put on the hanger for the front mech, but in the end its a one bi bike! Great video though. Amazing workshop!!!!!!
they will use the hanger for a chain guide which didn't arrive in time for the build 👍
Un buen Ensamblaje.
Apparently I am totally enthralled with bike building ASMR...had no idea. 😉
i enjoy it awesome video
Love the bedding in brake process
yeah really cool to watch those in action 👍
Fantastic.
Super
Love bike build videos! Thanks!! Wout van aert is a beast! Hoping his year will be even better than 2022!
his cyclocross bike would have been an amazing, but those were already built for the races. 🤩
Seems to work so far... 😲🥳
My Dream Bike 😍
The JV service course looks like a bike riders dream. Just pulling thousands of £'s componentry out of draws and boxes 😍
It's so amazing to wander around there 🤩
Yes amazing place but a riders dream is surely an open road with a tail wind??
They had around 30 cyclist both man and women, everyone has from 5 to 9 bicycles 😂😂😂
wow wish i could get one but as i cant afford it i can only watch it 😅love your vids and your builds really wish to get one cycle like this
Cervelo Soloist 2023 owner here. Coming from an S3 Aero bike, this new bike is a superb experience. can climb more comfortably and still retains the speed on flats.
Good to hear! I’m in the process of building a 2024 Soloist and I’m currently riding a 2010 S1:-)
Very nice build, how i wish i could have one of this but unfotunately its very expensive..nice one lods..
My dream bike
Nice video
This would be such a fun job. Building awesome Cervelos for the likes of WVA and Vingejingelingevingegarglearde would be something I could easily get used to. Don't take me seriously. I'm just an Australian idiot. But I love bike racing and Jumbo are the best team in the business.
Sản phẩm mơ ước của nhiều người.
This build is awesome⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spettacolo
Ready for Paris-Roubaix
Dude got really nice shoes
Wspaniała praca jaką Wykonał pan Mechanik 👊 Cała personalizacja roweru pod konkretnego Zawodnika 👏👏👏👏 Pierwszy raz coś takiego widzę. Pozdrawiam.💪 👊 🙌
Great video, I love the pad bedding machine. One thing i noticed is he wraps the bar tape opposite to how i woumd have thought in the drops. I always thought it should go with the direction the hands will pull it. ie clockwise on the right and anticlockwise on the left drop. Thanks for the video 🙂
I just finished the same build on a white frame set.
really stylish bike with the white color 🤩
This is such a great video. I watched the dude build Mathieu van der Poel’s Canyon, and I’d much rather have this guy build my bike. Such a calming video.
Thanks a lot! 🤗
gawd! imagine them giving you the chance to pick up the parts to build your bike.
AWESOME!
THANK YOU 🤗👍
Grazie mille! è davvero una bici da sogno
Beautiful bike 😍
oh yes 🤩
Note to self: When being filmed while doing important stuff, always make sure the trouser's fly is closed. (about 9:25)
That's a great video showing the knowledge of bike builders, really enjoyable.
I wonder though, how is it that we still don't have a system to always align handlebars with front wheel, and that someone still has to do it "manually" ?
there is a laser system from tune, but it only worked with traditional two piece cockpits. but, yeah.... it's still a little old school but it's not really that much of an issue.
as long as they are tightened.... th-cam.com/users/shortsHK-eld1h6ak?feature=share
All of these components and tools are waaayy above me, but danggit I have the same Park chain tool! :D
He loved the internal cable routing the most😎
Nice work, very professional!
yeah, pretty much what you would expect from the best team out there :D
@@roadbikechannel But there are enough dodgy bike builds to be found on youtube.
I’m having a weird picture of the Soloist so far. It’s said to be quite heavy, and the price at least in Germany is ridiculously high, even with a simple Shimano 105 group set. On the other hand I love the idea of something in between the S5 and the R5, possibly combining both the aero and the lightweight world. But this doesn’t seem to work out well so far…
probably get a cube with full ultegra di2 and integrated bars for less
@@caspar_gomez which cube?
I dunno, I have one and really like it but I think research it too much. My local shop told me they ordered in a frame in my size & asked what components I wanted to build it up with. It's my first proper nice road bike.
And you can top it with the worst after sale experience ever. My Caledonia spat out bottom bracket in less than 5k km. Apparently their bikes are known for it.
Praca marzeń
Trzepałbym tzn jeździłbym xd
4:17 Interesting way of using the light to emphasize the carbon dust during cutting of the steerer.
Nothing beats carbon dust in the morning sunlight 😜
Buuutifulll
Nice 👏👏👏
thanks! 🤗
What a beautiful Bike!!!
oh yes 🤩
Do you think Wout will watch this? Wout seems like the type that would enjoy a calm video like this.
No more Shimano on JVisma bikes. Another top build, thank you!!
Yeah, they made the switch to SRAM for 2023. Thanks for the comment!
Vaya maravilloso 🤩🤩
Love these dream bike builds! Curious though on the bar end caps. Did the end caps go over the bar opening and not in it? 20:50
yes, they go over the bars and saved quite a lot bars already. with the added protection they are often enough for the bars to stay on after after a crash (which kind a happens on a regular basis) and spares the mechanic a lot of work with the internal routing of the brake hoses.
www.closethegap.cc/product/savemybar-2-external-bar-plugs/
Top demais!👏👏👏🇧🇷.
It's the heat gun on the decals for me
Does anyone know what headset cap is that at 3:50? Does that come with the Vision 5D ACR or is it an additional part? It seems like a FSA ACR No.55R, what size though? 1-1/2? Cervelo website states the headset size to be 1-1/4 to 1-1/2.
I heard that FSA are making specific soloist headset caps for ACR like they do for other bikes but I don't know when they are coming out. I'm sure JV is able to either make or get custom ones made for them either way.
May I ask what is the headset top cap in the video? It looks similar to the acr system from fsa but I remember that the top bearing of acr is 1-1/2 while the soloist frame set with 1-1/4 top bearing.
Great video! Please can you share the name of the song at the beginning and at the end?
That machine used to embed the brake pads in always fascinates me
Those are special Vittoria tires for the Team.
Any idea what they are called?
Love the one piece bar and stem - was a nightmare for me figuring out how to replace stock on mine. Ended up doing the R5 bar/stem for fully integrated look. Considered Black Inc one-piece, but didn’t know where to source right top cap and spacers 😊
Probably be a pretty nice bike to ride that one.
quel beau métier...
Opera d'arte
Un buen Ensamblajé.
Give us a go of your bike there Wout
Good 👍 👍 👍
Hi, is it possible to know the inner circumference of the lower headset bearing and the thickness of this. Headset model? Thank you
So astonishing bike...🔥🔥🔥
Great vid. I imagine Wout wont be riding this when it counts though...7.6kg!
Weight isn't everything.. especially not for this Paris Roubaix model. This isn't a climbing bike
@@Leendert82 indeed!
But as a comparison the new Giant Propel aero bike is right at the UCI limit of 6.8kg so there are much lighter options out there than the new soloist in the build option shown anyway.
No professional will want an 0.8kg penalty especially if there aren’t significant gains elsewhere.
well, he won't. I bet you won't see him in any race on this set up.
@@peterford7805 a big portion of that weight is the Propel's wheels (over 300 grams lighter than this) and groupset (Shimano is over 100 grams lighter than SRAM). Then there's the seatpost (100 grams can be saved with Darimo). The propel is a lighter frame, no doubt, but it won't be able to handle a cobble stage. Whereas this might be able to
@@l.d.t.6327 doubt that, I'm pretty sure this will be the bike he uses for Roubaix. A pretty flat race where you want wide tires which don't fit on the S5, and the Caledonia's geometry is too relaxed (and even heavier).
Beautiful build, could no one have told the mechanic that his fly was open?
sorry, we missed that... the bike was a litte more exiting 😅
10:49 - is a crow foot wrench needed here to get it to 8nm? or do you just snug the compression nut up?
You don't really "need" one but it wouldn't hurt to get the right torque. We're always using one and it's actually part of the sram bleed kit. Most of the pro tour teams are a little more freestyle and rely on experience
Nice bike, really very nice! I would like to ride it.... Instead of my aeroad etap? I think I would prefer the cervelo as i prefer victories by Wout; but I like the aeroad too... But i need a win in the lottery, the prices are unstoppable growing up.
yeah, better buy it now before it gets even more expensive 😉😬
@@roadbikechannel i wait for the day it becomes cheaper... As it see till the end of my life
Nice. Surprised, all 6'3" of WvA rides a 56cm frame though.
a lot of riders prefer the nimbler feeling of a smaller frame. especially during sprint finishes its essential to get a close as possible to the rider in front.
Why use a crank power meter if the pedals are power meters as well?
Is this the bike been use on the Tour de France 2023? During Vout on the cobbles ?
oh man. send me one of those here in saudi pls haha
Should I be taping my handlebars like this? Did he tape the plug in first with electrical tape?
The plug is from close the gap and made to avoid crash damage which may result in a lot of time wasted to replace a handlebar with internal routing. th-cam.com/video/dNwghReU0U0/w-d-xo.html
4:12 Well done, no mask while cutting carbon.
and no gloves for the bleed. not the best example, but a real one 😬
2:36 , 11:54 What is wurth's blue liquid is applied to the screw threads?
Screw fixer. called threadlocker, or Loctite
What are the mechanical rollers for at the end? Scuff the tires? And what events would he use a 1x in? Paris Roubaix?
thats for bedding in the brake pads and discs 👍 and yes, thats the bike for Paris Roubaix
It's crazy he's riding a 56cm bike. He is 6,3!
but with a 140 mm stem
He needs to get low!
if he can win any one stage with this bike
it would be meaing WVA is super human 😋
