The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

Ah the dremora. my favorite summon in skyrim, my third favorite summon in oblivion, and my second favorite summon in morrowind. Highest damage output of any other summon in the game, human sized so that they fit in places ice atronachs can't, and can soak a whole lot of damage before they die. fun fact though, the ones in skyrim don't have their own template. They're all just dark elves with horns. at least in previous games they had their own (what's it called again) mesh.

I think a good example of how most Dremora view being summoned is during the Master Conjuration quest at the College of Winterhold.
You summon a Dremora to get a sigil stone, but he adamantly refuses. So you have to summon and beat him into submission over and over again until he relents and gets you the sigil stone.

    • @jacobfreeman5444
      @jacobfreeman5444 5 ปีที่แล้ว +99

Well, there is honor in it since they are being summoned to serve this mortal presumably at the permission of their lord. While not really show in game these summoning spells require a specific ritual to even be successful. So the summoning spells normally taught are just pacts already established by previous wizards...or created by the caster I suppose if that was allowed in game. Why the unbound dremora is different is because this being has no accord with any mortal. You force it to both fear and respect you through sheer power and brutality.

Actually, that thing about their armour looking fitting on them, had me thinking. Summoned items reassemble Daedric stuff, and is literally a daedra forced into that form. Even Daedric made stuff requires the heart of a daedra (dremora). Is the armour and weapons that dremora use, a part of themselves, or like another daedra that they have dominated to act as such? It could put some of their domination mindset into an explanation.

It is a shame that summoning dremora in-game does not occasionally prompt a random encounter where the dremora tries to manipulate the contract (his first attack on you doing "sneak attack" damage if get hit by it). Granted, they wouldn't do this if summoned into battle but if summoned when no enemies are near. It would add a real feel for what you were doing. These encounters would change or disappear completely as your commutation skill and/or max magic increased (and they would not even question your authority if your stats were high enough). Still, having a dremora appear and then offer you some sort of weapon or enchanted item as a "tribute" to "such a powerful master of the arcane"... Or if you summon one before you should be able to, have them offer to give you advice... a sort of gift for one who managed such a powerful summoning. ...it would be kind of epic.

    • @722lovemonkey

It sounds epic, but isn't really realistic (I mean by Elder scrolls standards)
These are the Dremora we're talking about, they value strength and hate weakness.
If they see they've been summoned by a novice conjurer who practically summoned them by accident, they're not going to be impressed, they'll see it as an insult to them and their pride and will immidiately try to take advantage of your inexperience or just flat out kill you for wasting their time.
Take the book "A Tragedy in Black" for example.
Quote: The dremora looked on the young boy with disdain. He looked to be no more than seventeen or eighteen, on the cusp of manhood.
Dremora: You? You have summoned me?
Boy: Mother says I'm good with spells. Someday I'm gonna be a wizard. Maybe even archmage!
Dremora: And what would your mother know of magic, boy?
Boy: She's a wizard! She's an enchanter at the Arcane University.
Dremora: Ah. Another dabbler in the mystic arts. I'm certain she is barely mediocre.
Boy: You shut up! I read the scroll. I get to tell you what to do.
      -First half of the book.
If you were a prideful, high ranking warrior of an immortal race would you really be impressed by that whiny teenager?
And lets say that teen was actually capable of binding you to his whim. Do you really think you wouldn't try to exploit his hubris for your own gain/freedom?
Dremora respect power and honor, nothing else. To them, even a Master Conjurer is insignificant compared to a Daedric Prince.

Technically do you go to oblivion in oblivion? Yes,
      But do you really?
No, not until the shivering isles and that’s not about Dremora.

Imagine for a moment that through whatever mechanism bethesda wants to use (probably involving some mortal), imagine if *poof* all the Aedra are now basically at the Daedra's power levels, ability, etc. Only now they hold even more of the arrogance than the Daedra, because literally every mortal would be NOTHING without them, and they are a BIT annoyed that mortals haven't always been loyal with the dark elves being exceptionally dickish...... How do you think that kind of situation would end up? Wars in heaven and earth? What about the akavari? the remaining dragons? imagine an elder scrolls game where you actually had to team up with the daedra to save Nirn because some of the Aedra threw a temper tantrum.

The only thing I am upset about summoning a Dremora is that they only last for 2 minutes, maybe 5 minutes with powerful conjuration potions. I always focus on conjuration skill first, because having two Dremora knights makes easy leveling in magic and sneak skills, plus game play as a Daedra Worshiper is more fun. Them Dremoras are great tankers. I knew I could summon them when I got Sanguines' Rose. My logic was... if there is a staff, there is an actual spell book to learn it. I was so happy being able to summon them. And they are always first in my mind when making a new character. I will take your warning and place it on a shelf. May be because my Dremora knights are from Sanguines' realm and have a good connection with mortals. 🤷‍♀️
"Could you imagine being a mighty warrior, the Valkynaz, the toughest Dremora to ever walk the barren wastes of the Deadlands only to have some snot-nosed novice to have the gall, the unmitigated audacity to bind you to his service?"
Only to realize that the summoner is a Dragonborn mortal female with a set of duties for you and your comrade to complete that would make even Lord Sanguine blush with embarrassment at the services demanded from you. You then curse the Divines that your services has a time limit. 😂😏

I do wish you’d use pictures of examples of creatures and what not 😭 I’ve learned lots from your channel but have never even seen some of the stuff you mention.

You really make the most juicy lore videos. I can't wait for when you get fresher material to work with.

I can't make heads or tails of what he's on about.
It seems like trying to make a comparison between dremora and mortals, but I can't quite grasp the point he's trying to make by doing so.
It's just giving me a headache.
It's like, he's talking about things mortals tend to have like family and afterlives, but then he's talking about dremoras' reconciliation of eternity and purpose, and I'm not quite getting what the connection is.
I keep trying to build up an explanation, but it just collapses.
Whatever bizarre logic is at play is a kind I cannot wrap my head around.

He's an over rated liar. Under his tenure the game mechanics and RPG elements have been increasingly dumbed down.

So I know you like to go into detail about different factions from withing in the game.....so I have to know, do you know the reason why the dawngaurd has to have an orc in their ranks? If you kill durack you notice the replace him with another orc....why? Maybe you can dig something up?

I've always wondered if it's possible for a dremora to breed with another mer. I really think it would make for a powerful hybrid Altmer build if so!

Elder Scrolls VII: Dremora. You are a Daedra native to Oblivion and choose your adventure based on the master you serve; Molag Bal, Mehrunes Dagon, or Boethiah. You are trying to climb your way up the ranks of Dremora society and please your chosen master while trying to gain favor through obtaining greater power. The player will experience firsthand the intricacies of Dremora and Daedric politics, starting as a newly reformed animous fresh from being slain, you must explore realms of Oblivion to complete tasks for your masters, torture mortals, and deal with frustrating but novel random encounters involving being summoned to Mundus for a variety of tasks that mortals will give you. While summoned on Nirn you can choose to be obedient in an attempt to get your summon over with sooner so you can get back to your tasks in Oblivion, or you can take the time to explore the curious world of mortals. Perhaps you will try to find a loophole in the summoning contract to punish the summoner for their arrogance. Any Daedra you encounter in your travels in Oblivion has the potential to be randomly summoned to Mundus, which will be frustrating for completing quests though will give the player the unique Dremora experience.
Death will be handled in the way of the Daedra rather than traditional quickload systems. You as a Dremora actually need to die to level up rather than mortals that must rest to use their experience. You will meet interesting Daedra from other realms that have their own stories and tasks that require the help of an eager strong Dremora, some who will choose to accompany you in your journeys across Oblivion. Potential companions could include anything from a sadistic and unpredictable Spider Daedra, a battle hardened and fiercely loyal Golden Saint, a mischievous scamp with many interesting tales from his many lives on Nirn, a reluctant stoic Xivilai who has rejected the sacred hierarchy of the Dremora, and likely many others.
