I think my favorite lore of Elder Scrolls is that the Argonians were so vicious and intense in the defense of their land that the immortal Daedra decided that they were too hardcore for them and closed their portals to avoid getting counter-invaded.
To be fair, the only source we have for that claim is the An-Xileel, an Argonian ethnonationalist group who claim to be the ones who lead the charge against Dagon's forces. Fallout 3 was quite disappointing to me...Then again I had been an avid Fallout fan since the original. When I first saw it, I really just thought "oh, it's Oblivion with guns." It wasn't a bad game, but Bethesda Fallout is not the same as Interplay Fallout. We went from a grim post-apocalyptic RPG with serious moral quandaries (and a nasty difficulty curve) to a quirky first-person game on an engine clearly not designed for FPS mechanics with an "easy mode" that allows you to stop combat at will to compensate for its flaws...all the while blaring music from the 1940s and 50s on the radio. He had the charm of a rock and spent his evenings drinking, and he could outlast even Newheim the portly without showing sights of drunkeness. He never waited around or never fast-traveld (urgh). This was really good. It would be really cool if you made videos going into the same amount of detail for the other mainline games (Daggerfall, and Morrowind are my faves 👉👈).
What I loved about Mankar's (or the Xarxes') interpretation of Mundus is that it's entirely plausible. It works on conspiracy logic where JUST ENOUGH makes sense to get the gullible/easily swayed on board. Whether or not it's true is irrelevant, Mankar's just using Alternative Facts(tm) to frame a narrative. It's a narrative that's compelling to people who were disillusioned with the Empire or had some kind of chip on their shoulder about the way things were. "The reason you feel confused is because this is all wrong, and the people above you have hidden true reality from you." Really beautiful writing.
I love the content and the channel , keep it up , one small correction . High Hrothgar is on the mountain under whiterun , not at the mountain over sarthall like it shows the intro map . Love the content 💖
Oblivion Crisis in the extended lore: Massive Dremora armies spawn from the gates collapsing giant ancient towers and not even a giant, city-sized crab can stop them. Oblivion Crisis in game: Gates spawn a bunch of scamps, who are barely stronger than the wildlife that attacks you on the roads anyway.

So we can literally call the era of Uriel VII as the Elder Scrolls version of the AGE OF HEROES . Maybe the Nords should start worshipping Martin Septim along with Talos .
this was a good one. i knew a lot about skyrim, but only bits of the older canon. will u do book series as well, or just the big media stuff, games, shows, movies, etc.?
Have you considered.. I guess I'd call it 'lightning rounds' of lore videos? An anthology of some of the shorter stories Elder Scrolls have to offer? Things like the adventures of Cyrus, such tales.
It's funny though; what everyone doesn't get is that Dagon got everything he wanted. He's not just the Prince of Destruction, but the Prince of Change as well. Akatosh may have cast him out of Mundus, but that wasn't much of a victory considering what came after.
In my horrificly unrealistic imagination about the Dagonic War when I was a teen (Oblivion Crisis sounds incredibly underwhelming), I imagined that the population of Tamriel was around 220 million and that around 50 million died in three years. I cringe at the giant numbers teenage me dreamt up. I also imagined that the population declined by another 30 million in the first fifty years of the Fourth Era.

Can’t wait to see the prelude to skyrims lore with the thalmor claiming to have closed the oblivion gates and all the other crazy events.
Great episode! Looking forward to the next one.
The animations and graphics in this one are top notch! Great work and thank you for covering the lore of one of the most controversial and goofy RPG's out there. Cheers!
Thank you, awesome stuff.
9:44 .. Whos name was Micah the Lizard. He was a master swordman and his agility was a match for even the khajits and woodelfs.
He became a champion of the arena after running in to finacial problems related to gambling, and later took work with the Fighters Guild. Aswell as helping the mages guild with some errants.
He had the charm of a rock and spent his evenings drinking, and he could outlast even Newheim the portly without showing sights of drunkeness.
He never waited around or never fast-traveld (urgh).
It wasnt untill 3E 434, while sitting in a tavern in Cheydinhall (or where it now was), Lost on what to do with his life and new wealth. while playing for his drink that he felt the Amulet of Kings.
It was during this time he contracted vampirism, and though he manage to cure it, caused delays in saving the empire. He reluctantly joined the blades, feeling he had done no heroism, though told otherwise.
Last sighting of him after the crises was by a bravil guard outside the mysterious gate island.
He was rumored to be the speaker of the dark brotherhood aswell as beeing the leader of the thives guild.
This channel is freaking amazing!
RIP Saint Jiub of Morrowind, died at Kvatch when this happen.
Please continue the series 🙏🏻because it's really great
If it makes commercial sense and your team is up for the challenge, I would like to see coverage of Glen Cook's Black Company book series. He's known as the true successor to Tolkien for military fantasy, and seeing his battles in a visual medium would be fantastic.
That WAS AWESOME 👌🏻 👏🏻 👍🏻 Great job guys!!!
The Skyrim soundtrack in the background is legendary. Easily one of the best soundtracks ever made
Amazing video! ❤️ I can’t wait until the series mentions the Orsimer 🪓
Can't wait for the next elder scrolls vid!
Love the ShoddyCast inspired intro, rip ShoddyCast channel - yes I know the new guy post like every 6 months, still rip.
The argonians counter-invading Oblivion never ceases to amaze me!
I appreciate the art done for the emperors and emperesses
so you gonna tell me you have the sexy voice of kings and generals and elder scrolls lore combined ? thats a match in heaven
Fantastic. Can't wait for more.
Awesome video guys well done loving this channel. love the fantasy warhammer be good to see you take on the 40k universe and the lore of the groups. the research you guys do is amazing and to out that in practice with the 40k universe would be really good to watch
I’ve said it before but I think Mass Effect really needs to be high on this channel’s list. The amount of lore to draw from is just insane and I think it would be really cool to break down “renegade” or “paragon” lore decisions
This was really good. It would be really cool if you made videos going into the same amount of detail for the other mainline games (Daggerfall, and Morrowind are my faves 👉👈).
Uriel VII sounds like the dispatch officer in all the games besides Skyrim.
I very much hope that WaW will eventually do videos on the Three Banners War and the other conflicts described in the Elder Scrolls: Online.
MY FAVORITE! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 😭😍🏆💕
I'd love to see you cover The Zentradi Wars of the Robotech Anime. Starting with Macross SDF and a overview of Zentradi expansion and warfare.
Incredible video
It's so great to see the games coming together
Amazing content as always... as for other videos or lore have you thought about doing dragon age?
I love the content and the channel , keep it up , one small correction . High Hrothgar is on the mountain under whiterun , not at
the mountain over sarthall like it shows the intro map .
I was about to ask to do a documentary on Elder Scrolls. But I was far beat to it. A HUGE thanks for this upload I will definitely treasure these videos. Give a like and a definite subscribe
Wait the narrative voice for this is the same as kings and generals holy 💩 subscribed
“The Daedric prince Mehrunez Dagon...”
Mehrunez Dagon: “¿Si?”
The pronunciations drive me nuts lol, they say it a million times in the game. Someone make the narrator watch a clip or two first.
So we can literally call the era of Uriel VII as the Elder Scrolls version of the AGE OF HEROES .
Maybe the Nords should start worshipping Martin Septim along with Talos .
Worshipping Martin is not illegal so yeah Martin can be the new Talos.
this was a good one. i knew a lot about skyrim, but only bits of the older canon. will u do book series as well, or just the big media stuff, games, shows, movies, etc.?
Fantastic video! Loved it! Please keep it up!
The Argonians when the gates open just flood in like a bunch of chaos berserkers
As I recall, those epic final battles consisted of like... 6 guys versus 8 demons TOPS, including me :p
OfficiallyDevin becoming the David Attenborough of youtube docs
Have you considered.. I guess I'd call it 'lightning rounds' of lore videos? An anthology of some of the shorter stories Elder Scrolls have to offer? Things like the adventures of Cyrus, such tales.
This was NOT the Voice I expected when I clicked this video. But I should have known given all the Kings and Generals Ive watched lmao
Oh hell. I had no idea Kings and Generals had a fantasy channel too.
This is awesome.
Good stuff thank you!
The White-Gold Tower isn't located in High Rock, but on the Imperial Isle, and serves as the Imperial Palace.
Oblivion was such an amazing game.
It's funny though; what everyone doesn't get is that Dagon got everything he wanted. He's not just the Prince of Destruction, but the Prince of Change as well. Akatosh may have cast him out of Mundus, but that wasn't much of a victory considering what came after.
Holy shit you guys do this too?!?!? Dude fuuuuuuckkkk yessssss
these videos are awesome dude!
Daedric princes: They are just lizard people. They will be easy to murder!
Black Marsh: So you have chosen death!
13:15 White Gold Tower in High Rock?? what?
that's the tower from the Imperial City.
That is not the white gold tower and that is not high rock 😁
In my horrificly unrealistic imagination about the Dagonic War when I was a teen (Oblivion Crisis sounds incredibly underwhelming), I imagined that the population of Tamriel was around 220 million and that around 50 million died in three years. I cringe at the giant numbers teenage me dreamt up. I also imagined that the population declined by another 30 million in the first fifty years of the Fourth Era.
Argonians being awesome as always.
2:25
"Hey I've seen this part!"
Also can't wait for a video on the Dark Brotherhood
Despite the obvious research that goes into all his videos he somehow manages to consistently slaughter names without fail.
