    I’ve been messing with this issue for over a month. I watched your video and thought “what the hell”. I popped the trunk lid liner out, pulled out the rubber piece holding the wires in place and I’ll be damned…..a broken little green wire! I can’t believe it! Thank you so much for the video!

    Thank you for this video. Saved me (probably) a couple of hundred dollars at the auto dealer. My only comment to add to the video, according to my son the engineer......When you feed the new copper wire into the tube to reconnect the two broken ends, make sure of the following two things: 1.) The copper wire should be the same diameter as the wire you are connecting to. 2.) The existing copper wire is probably a multi strain of wire filaments. Make sure you use a multi filament copper wire for the new connection......NOT a solid single stain. My son says connecting a multi strain to a Solid single stain will cause too much resistance and possible a "short" , or even worse a fire.

    This video was a very helpful. Followed your instructions after checking all the fuses, and found that the dark green wire was torn. Made the according fixes and trunk and trunk light works like normal now. Thank you bro

    And again, googled this problem, saw your video. Thought hmm kinda involved but did exactly as you said, and BAM 2 disconnected wires. I soldered them back together and added some support, works like a charm!!!

    Thanks! I had the same problem. Couldn't open my trunk with the fob or the dash switch. No sound when the buttons were pressed. No fuses were out and the glove compartment switch was on. Found and followed this video and found 2 wires were cut inside that rubber hose. Soldered the wires back together, taped it all up. And now have a working trunk again. And a bonus: my trunk light now works again (forgot I had a trunk light!). I guess one of the two wires was for the trunk light. Thanks again!

    Thanks for posting! I just found the same problem on my 2006 G35 sedan and it was an easy fix. I opened the trunk by snagging the emergency release with a coat hanger by reaching through the back seat center pass through.

    It's really weird how common this problem is on g35s! This is my first and sure enough the trunk wouldn't pop and it was a broken wire at the hinge area. Thank you

    BEFORE YOU RIP APART YOUR TRUNK CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR VALET SWITCH IS NOT OFF I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY, simptoms of valet switch, FOB works but interior button doesnt, valet switch location: when you open the glove box it is on the left hand side. Thanks the vid helped because i also needed to fix the wires, but i ended up acccidently flipping the switch.

  • @johnsheridan6499

    thanks Brother! had the exact same problem with my 2006, the two snapped wires were
    all the way down by the rubber gromit/cable cover, so I did not have to peel off all of the black tape. still a difficult enough fix, but worth it, as I no longer look like I'm "living out of my car", as I can now put stuff in the trunk again!

    I have this issue...The trunk will not open from the fob, then soon stopped working from the inside button on the driver side also...I could not discern what fuse it was.....so took it into the dealership.. They kept it for days and i got drive a new Q X30 the whole time!...But they charged me 400 hundred to diagnose it as sensor problem because after they found it was not the fuse, they thought it was a broken latch and spent several hours messing with it before deciding it is a sensor issue.. They say it will cost around 700 to purchase and 300 to put in...How can i tell if its just this wiring instead?

    • @rewindjunky
      @rewindjunky  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a toggle switch , so the best bet is to find a replacement on eBay or salvage yard. It's should not be hard to replace once you take out the glove compartment. Unfortunately I don't have an official answer, but that's what I would do I broke mine .

    Great video. I have a question, I have the 2009 g37xs and when I use my keyfob I'm able to unlock the trunk but when the key is in my pocket and I press the button on the trunk lid to open, it wont work it only work when I use the press the fob.
    I check all the fuses like you did but still had the same problem.

    • @rewindjunky
      @rewindjunky  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      flipmode00 thanks! So your KeyFob works when you press the trunk button , but doesn't appear to sense the KeyFOb when you walk up to the trunk and put your hand on the unlock latch. I'm assuming that the car is sensing the keyfob when you go to unlock your car door though? If so, then it may be the rear sensor (if that even exists) may be faulty or bad. Not sure how many sensors the car has that detects the presence of the keyfob, but I'd research that and get back to me. Good question.

    • @flipmode00
      @flipmode00 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to the tech at infiniti the rear sensor does exist lol, its located near the trunk. I will have to order one on ebay for $10 cuz the dealer charges $60 for 1. tks for your help

      Yo are a life saver Buddy. I just locked my keys in the trunk and after deciding between ripping the back seat out or paying a locksmith 200 dollars, figured let's see what you tube says! in the glove box there is a on off switch for the trunk. Flip it on , and push down the trunk release under the steering wheel. Pop goes the weasel.

  • @stephenmihalic4754
    @stephenmihalic4754 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There are 5 wires in the harness. two black, one red, a light green and a dark green. In my case, both greens are separated at the same place. When I connect the dark green my latch activates again. I can't see where the light green attaches. What is it's purpose?

    • @rewindjunky
      @rewindjunky  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That I'm not sure. We would have to get a wiring diagram from the factory , or you would have to look at a Chiltons Manual for the G35.

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2009 G37 but different issue where my key fob will open the trunk, and the interior button on the dash works as well, but the trunk button doesn't work. Even though it's now 2022, my car (bought used) only has 60k on it. More recently there are times that nothing opens the trunk but after a short drive, everything but the trunk button works as above. My battery is now being affected and something draining it so now the fix it more urgent since now I'm not just worried about battery drain, but if there's a short somewhere, possible fire. Now I need to figure out the right wire to buy. I did find a few complete harnesses on ebay that I'll probably get one, providing I can find a video on putting it in.

    It was the green wire that split on my 06 g35 coupe. It was right where the grommit came out of the car into the trunk within that rubber piece covering the wires. Had to cut it out with a razor blade. Im just worried about water getting in it now. Covered it with electrical tape and then taped a ziploc bag around it.

    • @rewindjunky
      @rewindjunky  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sue Mitchel-Runow the emergency latch on the trunk hood comes out a little and let’s you twist it. This allows you to slide the felt cover off through the hole that’s cut in for it.

    • @suemitchel-runow3566
      @suemitchel-runow3566 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @rewindjunky
      @rewindjunky  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sue Mitchel-Runow I’d ask them if they could do a continuity check of all the wires that go through that rubber grommet and verify all the leads are good. That leaves very little room for them to BS you , however they will very much charge you for this.

      Just over 2 months from when I fixed one wire and another one broke a couple of weeks ago. Fixed it, traced more of the wiring into the body and removed one of the wiring clips that was causing tension. And now I'm about to work on it again because my trunk only opens occasionally now. Does anyone know if the wiring to the trunk goes all the way to the front of the car? I'm really wanting to go ahead and replace all of these wires.
