Shonen and seinen are a demographic terms that come from the publisher of the original manga itself. If you're confused check out my every anime genre explained: th-cam.com/video/B7GxB0bq7h0/w-d-xo.html
The problem I'm seeing with the comments is a lot of ppl think shounen is a genre. It's not. It's a demographic, normally based on what magazine published it.. However things like light novels and visual stories aren't normally published in magazines can still be under shounen, shoujo, josei or seinen. Genres are things like action, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, drama..so yes, Deathnote can be a shounen even thro it's psychological thriller and has minimal action vs Vinland Saga, which is inspired by actually history and has themes made for a more mature audience. It's a harmful stereotype that shounen is mainly action when things like kaguya sama: love is war is a shounen. Tomie by horror legend Jun Ito and one of my favorite series X by clamp which is extremely violent and psychological are shoujo.
Which is actually because of the demografic it's about the complexity of the Kanji. I don't remember how I found this out but if you read raw manga beetween Shounen and Seinen. Shounen Kanjis will always have the reading written in Hiragana. While Seinen doesn't bother with that most of the times.
@@justinfreimann7367 For real like there was literally a scene where akira 🥜 all over the ceiling 💀 which is something I have never seen before even in hentai bruh lmao
How I knew it was Tokyo Ghoul immediately: with my unhealthy shonen obsession, I am very aware that both HxH and JJK ran in WSJ, a shonen magazine. Tokyo Ghoul did not. It ran in WYJ, a seinen magazine. Ergo, the fake
It's about the themes and usually what publisher printed the story. Also some mangaka didn't know where their stories will take them so that's a big Factor. Shounen is the demographic not the genre.
I would say’s it’s JJK because the author at first hated the idea of it being a school setting and it was originally meant to be more like the one shot but when their editor didn’t like it it became the way it is today and I would say that Gege doesn’t like making JJK
honestly that’s fair, he’s drawn a ton of chapters with some admittedly not as good as others. you notice how much his art style has gotten more sketchy and rough, with some pages being clearly unfinished. and with gojo, i can’t blame him because i hate gojo too.
