A quarter of a billion sounds like a lot, but when you consider that for that same amount, Hollywood gives us 90-100 minutes of aggressively mid film, BEFORE the marketing budget even kicks in... Fortiche and Riot giving us 360 minutes of peak fiction is a BARGAIN in comparison.
The main thing to consider is that people cost a lot of money. Most people will only watch movies that have famous names tied to it and the actors know this and thus can charge unbelievable sums for their roles.
@@delimelone Hollywood movies don't actually "cost" as much to the company as they often look. Actors are part of the bigger upfront cost. 3:44 I'd like to highlight this clip here from Arcane's behind-the-scenes. I loved how forthright the artist is here with this question. A lot of 3D Artists who specialise in materials, textures, nodes, and simulations ask a 2D texture artist how they get their models to look so painterly?! It's simple: they paint. Every camera angle in this show is a painting that has been projected onto a rough 3D scene. Every camera angle requires a new painting. It's like a modernisation of the classic Disney animations with Snow White and Pinocchio, where they would do watercolours for the background and foreground while their characters are in between in a different artistic medium.
9.5/10 That 0.5 is for the ultra fast Victor scene in s2e2. Like wew, I know that he isn't himself there but he just went "k thx bye" to Jayce. They needed like 5-10 mins more for bros going separate ways. And 250 millions for 18 episodes? That makes it dirt cheap compared to new movies that often flop (looking at you Joker2) or games that also were few years in developement and with the same cost (or even had near double of that).
It was done that way on purpose. It was suppose to feel like you were caught off guard. They pulled it off insanely well since everyone is saying the same thing.
If you look at the table when he picks up the book, there is a drawing of Caits new gun. Jayce promised not to make anymore hextech weapons, and Victor saw that as soon as he woke up.
Arcane is one of the best things I ever watched, absolutely phenomenal show with outstanding visuals. As a league fan this November is stacked af, hype Worlds finals into Arcane S2.
i hope they try animating a jonia movie next, it would be so epic if they explore Yasuo’s journey in animation with him helping other champions like shen, irelia and ahri. Yasuo vs Yone with fortiche animation would be absolute cinema. Akira Kurosawa style samurai movie is all i need from them.
I think they will have Noxus invasion of Ionia as next series, with Riven and Yasuo backstory being the focus as it ties down to Singed, then shen and zeds ninja mess as a secondary plot.
@michapiasta3072 this has to happen! I can just imagine how epic that story will be! All the amazing side characters they could get from both Ionia and Noxus would be top class! Shen and Akali, Zed coming into play. Irelia, Master Yi, Swain, Draven Darius, the list just goes on and on.
I really wish they had three seasons. The only reason why i say that is because it feels like there is so much happening at once that it becomes too much!
Yeah, season 2 felt like the storytellers bit off wayyyy more than they could chew and were cramming it all in last minute. This is even more true when you go back to rewatch season 1, which was… VERY slow-paced in comparison. Season 2 tried to tell too many stories in too few episodes, so that left a lot of loose ends and moments that were kind of just confusing?
@@hallieskiddles3179 fr, like we could have had a whole episode dedicated to the Zaunite rebellions instead of the AMV segment we got with “Paint The Town Blue”. At the very least, the final episode should have been a full-length movie. AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN SINCE THERE WAS SO MUCH CUT FROM IT 😭 Nonetheless, i wouldn’t say it was rushed, though. I’d argue it might have been more budgeting issues from higher up, which makes sense as this already is the most expensive animated show in recent times with what they put out.
The time, budget, and effort to make this made it into something more than just a show. It's a legacy that will endure decades after its premeire and the wait was worth it.
Dude....dude...the three EPISODES felt like a WHOLE ASS SEASON, with how it built up from episode 1 to the conclusion of episode 3, it was such an amazing ride. Anime of the year.
This is peak bro. I use to pray for times like this. I do have a question. what exactly is Jayce and Ekko plotline. is the hex Tech evolving, poison or something. What exactly are they doing. The show is moving so fast I kind of miss it.
It's like Heimer said, there's a reaction to every action. Very basically whenever hextech is invoked, there is a reaction. Usually it's the one that the user requested but wild runes are the result of hextech eventually refusing to listen and lashing out because it's a living energy that wants to do its own thing. Even sorcerers who abuse this energy much less frequently and put significantly less strain on it will sometimes run into a problem where their spells malfunction or misfire (again a direct quote from Heimer). Ekko and Jayce have discovered this and it now seems that Victor has become the living, walking catalyst for the will of the hex energy. He is enacting what it wants to do which is evolve. What exactly that means is yet to be seen presumably very early in act 2. Hope this helped clear things up.
I think its caused by living matter fusing with it, mostly from victor i guess but also from the gates as they said in the show, along with a dose of shimmer which we currently also dont know much about. I also think the spot on the floor heimer spotted in the failsafe room was from when victor coughed blood in season over that fence and that connection to victor and also shimmer was what caused the corruption(?) of the construction. My current theory of what this means is that the action of mixing living matter/shimmer with the arcane caused the reaction of the arcane wanting to evolve, like life does, but maybe in a sinister way because of shimmer.
This show is right up there in my top 5 best shows ever, alongside the masterpieces Lost, Attack on Titan, The 100, and Sherlock (BBC) - and that’s probably the biggest compliment I could possibly give. It’s an unbelievably masterful show. A true orgasm of artistic talent, from the animation to the writing to the music to the voice acting.
It also took way more time because when Fortiche came to RIOT with the first pilot animation, RIOT knew the script wasn't up there to the level of animation Fortiche provided. So they continued working on the script while Fortiche brought out some other bangers (the music clips of Rise and Get Jinxed). These clips were the "basics" to get the right aimation style/feel for the Arcane series.
After seeing the behind the scenes documentary (Bridging the Rift), I am certain that the level of passion, time, dedication and love those people have is unparalleled in Hollywood right now.
I'm glad there weren't five seasons, but I had such a distinct feeling two years prior that season two needed to be longer than season one, and although I thoroughly enjoyed what we got, I feel like I was seriously right.

I’m halfway into season 2 and not only have they maintained the momentum of S1 but the animation is top notch!
0:15 When bro said "call me a krispy kreme donut, i thought he meant something else white💀😭
Every frame is a splash art painting, got dayum!
the spiderverse vs arcane fight for most influential animation continues. I don't know whose going to win, but I'm rooting for both of em. I always wanted western animation to get to this quality as a kid. Sure wish it was 2d animation though.
Thanks for the coverage! found you through the blue lock animator interview and got suggested this. Thanks again for the hard work and keep em coming!
People also assume that the budget goes 100% to the animation
It also went to salary’s, voice, music, marketing, renting studios, etc… and it turned it absolutely amazing and makes it that much more impressive
And hopefully it shows other inspiring artists and film makers realize that taking creative liberties is alwayssss worth it, because every single show and movie the last 8 years has been so cookie cutter and predictable
1:13 Jojo reference its diavlo bruh😂
Thats what I thought when I saw the scene to
It’ve been days now and no one made that jokes. I thought I was in a different universe or smt.
@@buffbeluga9541 ikr
@@buffbeluga9541 Well considering the show feels like it was Made in Heaven, I'd not blame you.
They didn't do it for the money they did it for the quality.
Im hoping to GOD that they continue arcane with more regions, the Noxus vs Ionian war seems the most logical step
Only reason i have a Netflix account
Those 5 whales are carrying riot.
And we infinitely appreciate their grand support, thanks 5 whales
@Carcosahead True lol.
Yes Arcane is back :D. thanks arikendo for letting me know!!!!
Art, acting, music, story, synergy...arguably one of the best animated content of all time.
1:06 LMAO 'ORGASMIC' literally could not have said a better fitting word
2 seasons is so baller. Duck out on top when everyone is still asking for more. Go down as one of the greatest shows ever created.
It's like a modernisation of the classic Disney animations with Snow White and Pinocchio, where they would do watercolours for the background and foreground while their characters are in between in a different artistic medium.
every video i feel like im consuming like 45min of content. Its only been 5min lol. Well done.
Thank god arcane isn't ending up like blue lock 🫡
Don’t compare that shit to arcane
they have time and budget rather than blue lock got rushed and not enough budget 😂
30 secs in arcane have more frame than an entire episode in blue lock
@@seaweedbanana4663 nah its more like the entire season of frame lock
@@beesechurger1 Leave Blue Lock alone, it's a great manga and it's a shame how bad animation of season 2 is.
9.5/10
That 0.5 is for the ultra fast Victor scene in s2e2.
Jayce promised not to make anymore hextech weapons, and Victor saw that as soon as he woke up.
take notes mappa
Arcane is one of the best things I ever watched, absolutely phenomenal show with outstanding visuals.
As a league fan this November is stacked af, hype Worlds finals into Arcane S2.
Everything about this show was pretty well done. The animation, the story, the sound design. Its all chef's kiss!
Worth every goddamn cent. Words cant express how insanely good the animation is.
i hope they try animating a jonia movie next, it would be so epic if they explore Yasuo’s journey in animation with him helping other champions like shen, irelia and ahri. Yasuo vs Yone with fortiche animation would be absolute cinema. Akira Kurosawa style samurai movie is all i need from them.
I second this very badly,,,,that would be awesome
I think they will have Noxus invasion of Ionia as next series, with Riven and Yasuo backstory being the focus as it ties down to Singed, then shen and zeds ninja mess as a secondary plot.
@michapiasta3072 this has to happen! I can just imagine how epic that story will be! All the amazing side characters they could get from both Ionia and Noxus would be top class! Shen and Akali, Zed coming into play. Irelia, Master Yi, Swain, Draven Darius, the list just goes on and on.
most importantly, they used it good
I really hope now they’ve got Mel’s story and lore that they connect Astra from Valorant, and have a seperate but linked series ngl
as someone in the industry, this is still the best thing, wow these people blew my mind it is so good.
I really wish they had three seasons. The only reason why i say that is because it feels like there is so much happening at once that it becomes too much!
Fr, interestingly enough this show would actually benefit from a filler or two
Yeah, season 2 felt like the storytellers bit off wayyyy more than they could chew and were cramming it all in last minute.
AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN SINCE THERE WAS SO MUCH CUT FROM IT 😭
Nonetheless, i wouldn’t say it was rushed, though. I’d argue it might have been more budgeting issues from higher up, which makes sense as this already is the most expensive animated show in recent times with what they put out.
Amazing animation + competent writers = greatness
The time, budget, and effort to make this made it into something more than just a show. It's a legacy that will endure decades after its premeire and the wait was worth it.
4:30, NEVER played League, and I LOVED EVERYTHING about it!
Dude....dude...the three EPISODES felt like a WHOLE ASS SEASON, with how it built up from episode 1 to the conclusion of episode 3, it was such an amazing ride. Anime of the year.
Arcane is not an anime.
@glorytoukraine5524 You're right. It's THE ANIME. ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
by the end of this amazing show, i want to have more of it. i whould watch it forever. but i can't imagine myself watching arcane in 5 seasons.
Ya **every frame of show could be a wallpaper** ya *Smeech*
Riot is a music/art studio that has a side hustle making games
250 million to PRODUCE. Which includes composing music, recording music, singers, voice actors, sound effects, writers, other salaries etc...
Over 60mil only for advertisement
Arcane is the result of animation industry actually LETTING the animators cook AND season!🔥
it's the emotions, thrill, action, music, direction, art style, vision for me
OHH mann... it's the best thing i've ever watched...❤❤
i think they really put heart on arcane , for me its basically one of the best animation series ever and probably will be for decades
This is peak bro. I use to pray for times like this. I do have a question. what exactly is Jayce and Ekko plotline. is the hex Tech evolving, poison or something. What exactly are they doing. The show is moving so fast I kind of miss it.
I think the hex tech literally evolves the more it gets used or temper with, like it’s evolving to what it’s suppose to be. The void.
@@aliyahsulaiman11 its not the void
@@herpyderp3384 Its not the organic matter, it would then have had a purple colour as seen in the orb viktor absorbed
Bro this show was hands down the best one ever !!! Masterpiece i shed a tear when I saw their dad
Every frame of Arcane is like a painting, it's insane.
I want more show but I can't argue I love how gorgeous it looks
Imagine invincible with this animation
You can feel when a team is giving their heart for a project VS a bunch of people only thniking about profit.
2 season wasnt nearly long enough , so many characters and stories that could have been fleshed out
That moment when you finish a masterpiece and realize you're not gonna experience stuff like this for years
It’s incredible amazing hard work to create a diamond masterpiece series! ❤
Worth every $.
After seeing the behind the scenes documentary (Bridging the Rift), I am certain that the level of passion, time, dedication and love those people have is unparalleled in Hollywood right now.
I'm glad there weren't five seasons, but I had such a distinct feeling two years prior that season two needed to be longer than season one, and although I thoroughly enjoyed what we got, I feel like I was seriously right.
this is not just a video game movie, it's art
And every penny was well spent
3D chars on 2D backgrounds, that was a genius idea
I would love to see the show get its own movie
People are going crazy about charcoal, as Tyrion said: people love stories.
It's still 5 seasons. They just concluded the Piltower/Zaun arc in 2 seasons and will continue the story in other regions in the other seasons.
Genuinely the best animated series or movie I have ever seen. Possibly the best series or movie, period.
I've kept scores out of 10 for about 50 different series & movies that I've watched over the past few years, and this is the only one that I think deserves 10/10.
first thing i thought when i started watching this was, this looks expensive
Visual Masterpiece
Bro, my favorite part was this "What" you gave at the beggining......
When you know something is completelly, absolutelly and tremendously unecessery... BUT IS FUCKING THERE!...
As a spit in the face of this lazy universe we live in....
Because true art lives in the quietest details.
This what happens when you really give the animators and music producers does everything with the best of their abilities
This is why borderlands 1 & 2 looked so good. Blending 2D perfectly with 3D
Money allows them to have the best animators, and have them have more time to work in the project.
I have never even touched LoL, it’s not my type of game, but holy crap is this show good. I’m kind of jealous of the people that have a better grasp on all of the lore and easter eggs, but it’s very impressive that a show based on a video game can stand on its own like that.
this is the second video about an animation studio that mentiones glassdoor, the first one was about a movie called PapMusic, which is literally the opposite of everything the production of Arcane standed for.
It appears that 300 persons or less is the golden range of studio size.
Goated 20/10 masterpiece, LEGENDARY level anime.
French casually creating master pieces of animation
you lost my viewer retention after you made a wild comeback of the "Ain't nobody got time for that" meme
immediately went to listen to the remix
It looks like the most glorious evolution!
It is true Art! Every frame is a poster and I truly adore it.
this is what we asked for 🔥🙌
