    @Fortress wow man, I've seen countless and countless and countless amounts of videos regarding strength and all that, but out of all of them, this makes the most sense. it ties into the Word of God in a beautiful way. to not pursue size or muscle, but to pursue what gives you vitality in general and let all else follow. just like we seek first the kingdom and let everything else follow. Thank you so much for this video man... I have a totally different perspective on how I'm going to train and pursue health. God bless you brother!

    Ooo. Spotted that Ido Portal quote in there. I absolutely LOVE this video, I was just discussing this today that so many guys around me are obsessed with their looks and not their ability to do everyday things. Can you run short and long distance, can you lift something heavy, can you lift yourself, can you jump, can you fight, climb, balance, participate in any sport just for fun. This should be the whole point of fitness and I stand by your beliefs, incredible video as always Paul.

  • @ChidiyaMusic

    FANTASTIC POINTS MADE. There really has been a craze in recent years and there's even a condition now called "bigorexia" where people feel like they're still not big enough and are obsessed with getting bigger. I myself have gone through the paces of bodybuilding, being a gym rat etc. until I realized that I would never really need muscles the size of my head on my daily life! Functional exercises and building strength that way is way more useful and I wish I had the mindset you had Fortress when I first started working out. You will NEVER be "big enough"; there will always be someone bigger 92nd that is your goal, trust me. Focusing on health and fitness is the way to go. Thanks for addressing the craze in this video man.

      @ChidiyaMusic 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    While I disagree with you latest vid against video games I love this video. I started focusing this year on just getting the gym and doing my best. Yes I get upset sometimes if I miss a rep but I am a lot happier not working towards or trying to rush towards a goal. If I can lift more I do, but if I stay at the same weight for weeks I don't care. The best gift I gave myself this year is the new mindset to just enjoy life. Goals are important, but not if they make the present unbearable. Love each step and get to the goal when I get there. Nice video and video games rule :)

    I like what you said at 2:23, you work out for strength and the ability to control your body weight easily because you need that in everyday situations. That is what I workout for: personal strength, health, the ability to help people when needed. I guess the only thing that will worry me is being balanced and working my back out.
    This is one of your best videos. thank you so much

    This is exactly what ive been trying to tell other people. The term fitness is used so wrong nowadays. I try to focus on strength, bodycontrol and muscular endurence. A sport is not there be for a good body. Thats only a nice side effect. I also hate ego lifting. And since i saw your first video i noticed you were never and will never be that type of person. Thanks Paul!

    I like your view and very much agree with it. I like the idea of getting stronger rather than how I look. I love the idea of defying gravity, of understanding my body and learning how to control it.
    If you're ever doing a lecture video could you talk about neuromuscular facilitation. I'm very interested in it.

    Or upload your entire 30min-1hr long workouts.
    The long workout videos are my favorite, I feel like I'm there with you working out.
    God bless you and your family Paul.

    So much respect, I recently went through a similar realization. It's the sad reality though that people want those abs or that booty without focusing on the health aspect. Btw health is not mostly your cardiovascular system, it's a combination of factors including mental and social health (and they affect your longevity greatly)

    I started for appearance and was out of shape, it was my first motivator. Then I got kinda bored.. It just became part of my routine. I kept persisting anyway. I came to enjoy the process, nutrition, the science, the learning about my body. So since then, I train for strength performance and my health, suddently I just look great anyway. More importantly though, I feel great and have a functionable body.
