      Brandon Lancaster i have a.d.d too and meditation is very hard. Do you take any medication? Or have tips?

    • @brandon637
      @brandon637 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I stopped talking medication years ago around the time i was graduating high school. the medications that are used in a.d.h.d. medicine is basically "speed" an is not really good for our bodies. This is why i self medicated with Cannabis for so long (a much healthier option) The truth is we dont need medicine or cannabis. we need to learn self control. Spirituality was key in my life when i stopped taking medication. i still have trouble meditating but i am geting better. I say just start small with some breathing techniques, maybe listening to some meditative music or bi-nural beats an just relaxing. then we can jump into meditation....think of concentration as a muscle, we need to work it out. Im meditating 5-10min. in the mornings now regardless of my racing thoughts. I think this is a good place to start...im already seeing Small results. hope that helps.

    • @sammie516
      @sammie516 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brandon Lancaster thank you so much! I use medication purely for studying because the school system sucks and i cant get good grades without it. I will stop taking it after i graduate though. Thank you for your tips!

    • @brandon637
      @brandon637 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jake there has been may instances where people stop taking medication for ADHD due to one form of self control or another. Unless your a kid in highschool I don't see any reason to be on those drugs. The fact is you just need to build a lifestyle around it, an stop trying or allowing others to make you conform to their lifestyles. one day you will have to come off the "crutch".

    • @HypnoticPattern
      @HypnoticPattern 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cannabis can help many people with ADHD, but it also has negative effects. With stimulant medications you aren't really helping the part of the brain responsible (or irresponsible?) in ADHD, but rather boosting the inhibitory ability of your brain. This is why sometimes kids feel robotic. Treated ADHD (with stimulants or other treatment) means that you normalize risks that are much higher in people with ADHD: teen pregnancy, job loss, relationship problems, and car accidents. One of the best researchers in the world on ADHD is Dr. Russell Barkley. He studied ADHD when his twin brother died in a car wreck, likely due to his inattention. ADHD people tend to have pretty spotty driving records.
      A good youtube channel for you is "How to ADHD" : the girl who does it is funny, insightful, and a fellow sufferer.
      Meditation is VERY effective in ADHD, which is why it's so hard to do: It's using and boosting the part of the brain weakest in ADHD. I think as we move towards more and more advanced science, we will begin to see a fusing of spirituality and scientific theories. I see more and more ideas from Buddhism/Hinduism becoming very real and relevant in brain science!
      Feel free to drop me a line if you want any info on ADHD, it is the topic I am studying and devoting a lot of time to learning how to treat. I can share literature and helpful information with you.

I've never before heard the method of erasing the lines of your body, but that's a really cool suggestion for people who don't dissociate easily in mediation. Thanks for the video, Koi. Maybe you should do a video in which you talk about mental illness and a spiritual path.
    Can you follow a spiritual path if you have a mental disorder? Do you need to pay closer attention to some things?

    • @HypnoticPattern
      @HypnoticPattern 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have a psychotic disorder (hallucinations without drugs) sometimes people with severe mental illness begin to experience disturbing fixed beliefs (delusions) and paranoia. Often they center around their chosen faith. I've met Jesus many times, but I've yet to meet the Buddha. :)
      there is no reason to avoid spiritual journey if you have a mental illness, and many find meditation very helpful in severe mental illness!
      Yes, mental illness is a label, as is everything. The true test is does it affect your ability to function and your happiness? Everything else is humans drawing artificial lines to help us guide what kind of help would be of the most benefit to you. We should focus less on the labeling of those with mental illness, and more on how this affects our ability to guide them through their chosen path and seeking of happiness in their life!

    Hey koi, I am a 13 and have always wanted to be the best me possible, do good on this world, learn and all that. I have always been the wise one in my family and been very open minded willing to understand. But I find it hard to stay on the spiritual path during school and the things I could do to improve on doing all these calming and mindful things but I don't know where to start. And also I live in Switzerland and speak French, I wish I could explain and teach all of my friends about being spiritual but I do not know all this vocabulary in french. This is all a lot of info but all I ask for is some tips on staying on the spiritual path in school and always being surrounded by curious friends who don't necessarily understand what I'm saying.

    Hi Koi, awesome Video. I heard yu say that this style is the most ancient , practiced by Buddha .
    Being that Buddha was initiated into Shaivism as a child , most likely he was familiar with meditation long b4 he became the Buddha, so I'm wondering ,,was his meditation from what he learned as a kid and then taught his followers after he became the Buddha,, or was he taught a new technique and used that in his "Standard " teachings?

    Is it normal to come out of meditation crying? I find when I'm fully focused I lose myself and somehow tears just fall from my eyes 😌

    Wonderful video Koi, very enchanting. but you should have let the music fade away slowly to silence and ended the video there for this specific one.
