Namo Tassa Bhagavato Arahato Samma Sambuddhassa.
Dear friends on the path of liberation, today I would like to share some guidance on cultivating the habit of sitting for an hour-long meditation. This practice can be challenging for many, especially for those who are just starting on their spiritual journey. However, fear not, for there are various ways we can approach this endeavor with mindfulness and patience.
Firstly, it is essential to understand that the purpose of sitting for an hour is not solely about achieving a specific outcome or attaining a state of deep concentration. Instead, it is an opportunity for self-exploration, inner stillness, and cultivating a compassionate and focused mind. So, let us approach this practice with an open heart and a gentle spirit.
To begin, find a comfortable place where you can dedicate an hour to this practice. Create an atmosphere that is conducive to meditation by minimizing distractions and ensuring the space is tranquil. Once you have settled into your chosen spot, you have the freedom to decide how you wish to utilize the hour.
For those who feel restless or find it difficult to remain still, you might consider starting with your eyes open. Allow your gaze to soften, without any particular focus, gently aware of your surroundings. This technique can help ease the restlessness and make the practice more accessible. As you progress, you can gradually transition to sitting with your eyes closed, deepening your inward focus.
If you prefer, you can actively engage in meditation during this hour. Choose an object of meditation that resonates with you, such as the breath, loving-kindness, or the contemplation of impermanence. Direct your attention to this chosen object and gently guide your mind back whenever it wanders. Allow the practice to unfold naturally, without judgment or expectation.
On the other hand, you might choose to simply sit without any specific technique or meditation object. This can be a time for pure presence, where you consciously bear witness to the sensations, thoughts, and emotions arising within you. Observe them without grasping or aversion, cultivating a spacious awareness that embraces all experiences.
Lastly, you can also use this hour for reflection, contemplation. Take the opportunity to inquire into the nature of existence, explore the teachings of the Buddha, or reflect upon the lessons life has offered you. Engage in wise reflection, cultivating both insight and understanding.
Remember, dear friends, that building the habit of sitting for an hour-long meditation takes time and patience. Start with shorter durations and gradually increase the time as you acclimate to the practice. Be gentle with yourself, and do not be discouraged if you encounter difficulties. Every moment spent in meditation is a step towards liberation and inner peace.
May this guidance serve as a reminder that there is no right or wrong way to approach sitting for an hour. Choose the method that resonates with your heart and helps you deepen your connection to the present moment. May our collective efforts to cultivate the habit of sitting with awareness bring us closer to the path of enlightenment.
May you all be well, peaceful, and free from suffering. Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu.

I am a vegetarian and a vegan for the last 2 years..and had vit d deficiency .taking supplements for that. And went under some stress due to work issues... And since then i had anxiety ..which gave me chest pain. I underwent a 3months training which requires physical, mental and academic training and it took away all my anxiety and chest pain.
But due to the current situation..lack of movement and activity and lots of leisure time is starting to bring back the same...
I know i am privileged to have food, shelter and leisure time when people and animals outside are suffering... That adds on to my guilt and results in anxiety...😞 i dnt want the anxiety to comeback... It takes away everything...😢 ive always wanted to join 10 days Vipassana programme but never got the time to... Thank you for this channel...im goong to practice this everyday...🙏🙏🙏

Anxiety go along with your perceptions.
      - do some exercises every day. Include some kind of squat exercise.
      - go out in the sun for 20 min at noon everyday.
      - get enough sleep everyday at least 8 hrs. Sleep on your sides. Don’t sleep on your back.
      - Throughout the day breath through your nose. Don’t breath through your mouth, even during your exercises.
      - but most importantly realized that anxieties came right after your wrong thinking/perception. If you drop your attachment to your wrong thinking then there wouldn’t be any anxieties.
For example you said you got anxiety from thinking that other people and animals are suffering. the correct way to look at it is that seeing others suffering provoke a reaction in you. But you perceived it as stress and anxiety. But what if you interpret it as only a reaction. So now you can choose what to do about that reaction that you have from see others suffering. You can improve your mind and body to be healthy so you can take care of whoever is suffering that you see around you instead of having a anxiety reaction that incapacitated you and won’t allow you to do anything to help anybody.
Wouldn’t that be a better strategy?
      It’s a win win situation.
And it’s all in your mind.
Take control of your thoughts. I don’t mean total control which we cannot do anyway. The way to control your mind is to be aware of what it is saying to you each and every minute.
You can choose to let it provoke you into getting anxious or you can choose to let it go and therefore you can have a fresh mind that know what good that is needed to be done for yourself and others in any moment.
      This is vipassana meditation!

      Tseten Bhutia -
No problem. We all go through the same thing because we all have the same mind/consciousness.
I didn’t mentioned about diet because ít looked like you got it covered.
Also if you go deeper you will also see the the “you” that you referred to. The one that wants to get better IS also the “thinking”.
Vipassana (deep seeing) is about learning to distinguish between “thinking” and the “awareness” of thinking.
Know the difference and you can be free.
Live in this “awareness” and not in the “thinking” and you become the Buddha...the awaken one.

Thank you for the beautiful presentation of VIPASSANA MEDITATION and it's techniques.
Albeit, it's a dream like situation to think about the NIRVANA at the beginning, but regular practice with perfect teachings of Lord Buddha makes it a quite possible.
The focal points of the VIPASSANA are Impermanence and Emptiness.
His eminence Goenka Guruji defines it simply in his discourse.
And the mind is an important factor.
    According to DHAMMAPADA,
    In Pali version.
    Sududdasam sunipunam
    Yatthakamanipatinam
    Cittam rakkhetha medhai.,
    cittam guttam sukhavaham.
    English version.
The mind is very hard to perceive,
    extremely subtle,flits wherever it lists.
Let the wise man guard it.,a guarded
    mind is conducive to HAPPINESS.
    Sadhu.....Sadhu..... Sadhu.

Open your eye lids slightly and let the light in! Doing so will not make you fall asleep once the mind is relax. And yes Concentrate on the Four Breathing, breath in long, breath in short, breath out long and breath out short. If the body need to adjust do to cramping than readjust it. Meditation is learning to do concious breathing. When we do it even with our eyes open or while working, we are meditating.

Yes you can, you should apply in dhammaketta website, you will be receiving a mail regarding your application wether it is accepted or not,
Then follow the guidelines instructed in the mail, if u are willing to accept the terms and conditions and all the rules mainly no gadgets allowed throughout the course, noble silence and etc. I suggest you to go for it, if still you haven't took a course, you will explore yourself, you will learn your mind to master it

This is my last option to go to before i quit my high paying and reputable job since i am not able to handle social situation, public appreciation, I can't communicate properly when in group or meeting, i can't do good work since i am afraid i will be in limelight. But before i quit this my last chance.
