I know this is 2 years old but it was very helpful. My biggest takeaway from this is how compact and portable your setup is. I'd be doing multiple trips back and fourth to the car for setup. Also it presents a strong case for a just-in-time approach vs actual live streaming in some cases.

Aaron Parecki Aaron Parecki I thought I had deja vu lol great video I was actually looking for a video like this!!! A million thanks! Question.. can you connect one of the cameras to atem mini via wireless hdmi like the hollyland mars 300? Will there be a delay with audio and video sync?
You definitely can, there will be some amount of delay but I haven't actually tested it myself to see how much. The Hollyland Mars are very low delay compared to others though!

I’d love to see an update for this. I’m interested in recording live bands in crowded rooms where cables can’t be run. Live stream is a want, but it would be so cool to be editing live as moments happen on stage. Love this channel!
For the power supply you can use a V-Lock battery mounted on a V-Lock plate which has multiple outputs each with it’s own voltage such as 5, 8, 12, and 14.5 volts. They’re sometimes called a V-Lock ‘pinch’. I use the Tilta V Mount Battery Plate V2 which has 2x 12 volt outputs, plus then you could also use splitters to get more devices connected as V-Lock batteries are designed for energy thirsty cameras.
For multiple 12v outputs, search for cctv security camera power supplies. I picked a couple with I think 6 outputs. You can also find barrel connectors made for cctv with screw terminals to make it easy to diy your own custom lengths.

Aaron, I love this. New subscriber and fan. Love the practical info. Way too much info for me, because I will be working from home and vlogging. Anyway helps me with the birds-eye view of how this all works. (I am new to this)
Great practical setup. I too have been shocked by just how many power plugs I need to plug in to get this running. I'm up to 3 power strips, especially after I had to add an an HDMI hub and Ethernet hub to the mix.
Hi, I work with a team that streams live events for sports. I like the idea of having the mini WAP next to you for controlling the ATEM. Having the macro tool is now a must have I believe. I am going to review it now. Thanks for your great videos.
Great video. I work in sales for a technology company. My hobby video interest suddenly became super important to my Zoom calls with customers since nobody can travel to meet customers face to face.
oh dear haha! Yeah whenever I rig up my nice cameras to Zoom people are super impressed with the video quality! Turns out mirrorless cameras with a nice lens are a lot better than a $100 webcam 😂
For power supply the Harley Benton Powerplant series might be a solution for you. Some of the outputs are configurable between 9-12-18 Volt and the outputs are electrically decoupled, so no ground loops. Current is limited to 500mA though. Might not have enough oumph for power hungry devices.
Hi Aaron, could you please clarify two questions. At around 2:17 you mention that the Roland outputs two simultaneous HDMI signals. I take it that is from the PROGRAM out and PREVIEW out? Also, is it the presenter that operates the device to switch between iPad and laptop? cheers
There's a edison tri-tap design that seems to be designed with power bricks in mind. They usually come in white plastic, and they are about an inch and a half by inch and a half squares with grounded outlets on three sides and you can plug three bricks in at right angles from each other and you just use an extension cable for the power source. Saves a lot of room on the power strip. You should check it out.
Probably super late, but you can power most things using a DC barrel Jack splitter and a 60W DC Barrel Jack power supply. That way you have between 2 and 5 DC Barrel outputs to one input (depending on the splitter you get). I use that on most of my set ups and it works great, and if you have a DC to DTAP cable, you can even power the whole thing off of a V Mount battery or other DTAP power supply. Its saved me a lot of headache and made my setup more portable.
Hi Aaron, Im doing something similar the day after tomorrow, so your timing is excellent. I also have to stream live and do sound and video for a panel discussion. My hands will be very busy. Loving the videos.
A very interesting and flexible portable setup. I followed most of it but have not understood how you got the audio into the R800 camera as according to the spec the R800 does not have an audio input, only an output. Is there some trick to it?
Hi Aaron, can I use the ATEM mini to just record without doing livestram? For example if I connect 4 cameras, have 4 different sources show up on OBS for example and then edit that later? What is another solution for this? Thank you for all your wonderful reviews and showing us how to do things!
You'll need at least the Pro model to record directly on the ATEM, but yeah! You can plug in a USB drive and record directly to it. If you want to be able to edit all the footage later you'll need the ISO model which will record all 4 cameras at the same time.
Very helpful. Just wondering why is the RODE wireless mic connected to the camera, instead of one of the Mic input in the ATEM Mini? What about the audio input for the other camera?
So when I filmed this, the ATEM Mini didn't have the audio delay feature yet. That means the easiest way to get the audio in sync is to run the audio through a camera so that it matches already by the time the signal reaches the ATEM. With the latest firmware update, the audio from the 1/8" inputs can now be delayed to match a camera so that isn't as important anymore, although running it into the camera is still fewer steps. The other reason to run it into the camera is that you can record on the SD card in the camera in order to have a backup video feed with good audio in case everything with the ATEM gets messed up somehow. The audio in the second camera doesn't matter since I'm only going to cut to that angle occasionally and I'll end up mixing it with the good audio from the main camera.
@@aaronpk Thank you - that makes lot sense. I have been getting a slight echo using wireless mic on Canon VIXIA HF R800 HD Camcorder, which is connected to ATEM Mini. As you mention, it seems the easiest way to get audio in sync. But my echo could well be that the room corner I am streaming may be causing this, but wanted to rule out if it has to do with where the microphone is connected.
Hello. Can you explane do you use HDMI adapters, kind HDMI to mini HDMI to connect camera with Arem mini. A have always problem with it. We lose Signal from mirrorless camera frequently.
Thanks for a great overview of this process for covering live events. I'd like the option to record to a Mac (which I have) versus using a recording monitor like BM Video Assist (which I'd need to buy). But, so far I've not found a good process. Only two choices in QuickTime, one too low in quality (High) and the other uncompressed with too much data, 2 GB per minute (Maximum).
7:45 you can find USB power adapters for the Vixia to run from a 5V USB port. Works on my R800. For my mobile setup I have an Intel NUC with 2 Cam Links. I think the only benefit for that system is that was possible for me to hack together a backpack system so that I can multicam when I walk (marches, protests, etc). However I've been too busy to implement this very well.
Great video, do we have to get clean HDMI output from the recording cameras to input atem mini? Can you also please make a detailed video of using cheapest cameras with atem mini and recording everything in OBS? If cheap cameras will work with no delay, I wont have to look to but expensive ones for my multicamera videos. Thanks
Thanks for another great video. I am doing the same types of event recordings where I work. It's great to see how others approach similar situations. I would really love to see a more in depth video of your editing/rendering process, including the settings you use for Media Encoder ( I assume that is what you use). Anyway looking forward to more videos.
Aaron, thanks! As usual, I’m late to the party and, naturally, way over my head! Do enjoy your in-depth, comprehensive videos on things and much appreciate the help you’ve given me on getting familiar with the ATEM Mini!. Got mine yesterday, finally! And experimented with it last night. Incredibly easy and so beautifully plug-n-play! Connected a Panasonic GX85 directed at my table workspace, an iPhone 6S running FilmicPro (in landscape!!) directed at me, and my 2017 12.9 iPad Pro running Keynote. The output via USB-C is to my MBP laptop logged into a Zoom session. This is all to do an online sketching & painting class. MY QUESTION: when I look at my 12.9 iPad Pro with Keynote slide, it’s reversed. However, when I send it (“Input #3) to the “Program,” it displays properly to viewers. Is it possible to correct the display on my 12.9 iPad Pro to display correctly so I can read the slide before switching to it?
I've never heard of Keynote showing a slide in reverse, but I guess if you're seeing it reversed on the ipad itself it would be a setting in keynote? Zoom will also mirror the image you see in zoom of yourself, which is normally preferable, but if you've got text on the screen then you'll probably want to disable that. It's a setting in zoom.
@@aaronpk Turns out, Aaron, it's a setting in Zoom! By default, Zoom mirrors screen. Unchecking that took care of it. Thanks for your response though. Now totally frustrated because I cannot get any of suggested solutions to work to get audio from my MBP (to which I have the ATEM Mini connected) to record! Not with Zoom, OBS, or NCH Debut! Any thoughts?
Nice video on functionality. Nobody seems to mention that the output video quality is substandard. Notice the blacks in this video (e.g. the shirt) and in other videos using the ATEM. I returned my ATEM and went back to my Camlink 4k because of the significantly color / contrast issues. It is maybe hard to see unless you are actively looking and view them both side by side. I want to love the ATEM so much, but can't accept the downgrade in video quality compared to other capture solutions.
Brilliant! :-) Similar to my own rig. I am thinking of making a multi-output power supply with isolated outputs. Considering making switchable 5V, 9V, 12V outputs. How many outputs? 6? 8? 10? 12? Maybe I should make it modular so you can bolt on 2 at a time.
Aaron, I'm very interested in a little more in depth description of how you integrated the mixer with the Atem Mini. We are starting to use the setup for University lectures and it appears your solution would be perfect to go between the camera and the slides (or is it just between the iPad slides and the presenter slides). I'm guessing you are using one of the Atem's hdmi inputs for the mixer. Thanks and great job with the video's. My colleague and I are picking them apart learning valuable stuff!
Thanks! My mics are routed into the external Zoom recorder and fed from there to the ATEM mini with an 1/8" audio cable into the audio input. Now that the ATEM supports adding an audio delay it'll work with any mixer, not just ones that have an audio delay feature themselves!
I have a problem regarding connecting two Nikon D750 and Atem. So, when I connect everything by HDMI cables, Nikon shows in OBS, but only playback menu or photos taken earlier. What's wrong? ables/setup/setup in cameras?
Out of curiosity I went to see the streaming you did, I must say excellent result. Great !! Too bad that the Picture in picture impacts the slides, they could study 2 DVE so the sources could be placed side by side. I also use Atem and Vmix to be able to do something more, the problem that all the cameras come from the Atem and therefore I can only make effects with other sources. However I know that you are very strong with streams and I often watch how you organize yourself technically.
Thanks! Yeah it's really too bad there's only one DVE in the small ATEM Minis. The Extreme can do more, plus it has the SuperSource feature which is absolutely perfect for making the side by side views!
Is there a way to add lut's on specific HDMI inputs on the Atem Mini? I have different cameras which do not much match together so I have made my own Lut'S but I can't find a way to add them..
@@aaronpk okay thanks.. yes I have one Ninja V but I would need to buy a second one to add a lut to the second camera.. that‘s not cheap 😅 hopefully there will be one day a easier/ cheaper way to do this

Sorry if this may sound a bit ignorant I'm only learning now how to use switchers to improve my work flow, what's the difference in terms of use between the Atem mini and Roland V-02?
I know it is not a direct apples to apples comparison, but what is your opinion about using the sling studio hub for doing the exact same thing? Had you considered it and what were the drawbacks?
Quick question is it possible to use two atem mini video mixers together so instead having for hdmi now you have 8 I’m actually thinking about doing something like that
Yeah! Well you get 7 inputs because one of them is used for the input from the other. I've been doing this in my weekly livestreams, come check it out, I've got one scheduled for later today!
Can you please provide the lapel mic brand you are using with the RODE Wireless Go? I'm using a Samson lapel mic with the RODE and it will disconnect. I've even taped the cable to the RODE but it will eventually disconnect.
In this arrangement I'm recording onto the SD card from the Video Assist (the small monitor). Now that the ATEM Mini Pro is out, it can record to a USB drive itself so this setup would be even better with it now!
@@aaronpk Nice. I own the Atem mini, and I´m figuring out how record the production. My first solution its send the Atem to Vmix, then record it on the SSD.
Great videos Aaron. I learned a lot from you for my own live streams. I would be interested to learn more about how you connect your iPad directly to the Atem and use the Strata App. I have all the hardware which is needed but I am not able to get a connection between the Strato Macro App and the Atem. I assume I miss something with the network settings.
There's nothing particularly clever about my setup, just need to be aware of some networking concepts. You need to make sure both devices are on the same subnet (easy example is the ATEM having an IP address of 10.0.0.5 and the iPad 10.0.0.6, with netmasks of 255.255.255.0) and sharing an Ethernet connection. You could probably plug the iPad directly into the mini, or you can plug them both into a network switch or router.
i haven’t used that camera. does its USB-C port output a video? if you can use a regular USB-C to HDMI adapter to get an HDMI signal out of it then it’ll work with the atem mini. but in my experience, that style of camera typically only supports video out through a built in HDMI port. let me know what you find out though!
Awesome video, sir! I am setting up my rental venue for live streaming. Something I would love to know- What can use to input into my ATEM what the presenter is outputting from their laptop into my projector? I don’t need something as fancy as the two channel device you used here, nor do I need to use a wireless connection. I simply need to be able to ‘split’ the output from their laptop into both my ATEM and into my projector. Thanks!
That’s an awesome setup. I have two of those vixia camcorders, I like the use of iPad for macros and the smart use of one of the cameras for audio backup.
Great demo of how you can scale down and still produce good quality coverage. Agree about the power brick conundrum, I did once daisy chain from my camera's d-tap output (the camera was running on mains) using d-tap to 12v cables and that worked fine, but obviously your Canon cameras won't support that.
Wow! We’re planning on doing a test shoot with the atem mini but it’s no where compact as yours. We’re looking to hook up at least a pair of Sony NX5U and minimal graphics as focus on making sure the set up for livestream works. We don’t have a video asset and surmise the laptop may do the heavy lifting and not sure if we may secure another laptop to store graphics as another input as a source to pipe into the Mini.
Great videos! I have to do something similar to record classes. The atem mini is in the mail so haven't gotten to test yet. One question is this: I will be getting clean audio from a soundboard into my camera and recording on sd card as backup then running that signal thru the mini and recording MP4 to OBS (while mixing in other video signals). After going through all these steps and connections do you think there will be a problem with a few frames delay so the audio doesn't sync exactly with the video of the presenter talking? I'm trying to avoid any post production premiere pro fixing at all. Thanks
It should be perfectly in sync like that. The only trouble is when you have the audio coming in from the 1/8" on the mini and video from HDMI, although I've heard that the latest firmware update helped that a lot too.
In this configuration the audio is coming thru the camera so it's in sync with the video. The only concern is bringing the the audio in via the 1/8" jack.
Thanks for all of your videos. Do you think a gaming laptop would be ok to record, stream and run OBS and BM software. Dont want to buy a monitor/recorder
Probably! The software control app doesn't really use any resources, so it's really just OBS to worry about. It'll have no problem recording and streaming itself if that's all the laptop is doing. If the laptop is also rendering edited video or playing a game you might run into trouble.
The blackmagic software is just to control the device. You need something else in order to stream on the internet. You can use OBS for this, or other software, or you can get dedicated hardware devices like the Webcaster X2 which I talked about in another video.
There's a setting in the Roland to choose what you want to send to the second HDMI output. In my case I set them both to show program. Tho technically that wasn't necessary since the Hollyland has a passthru HDMI anyway.
I don't have a specific device in mind, but if you're looking for 12 Volt power supplies with multiple outputs, maybe you'll find something useful among guitar pedal power supplies. Guitar FX pedals are usually 9 V DC, but some are 12 V so high end PSUs for pedal board use tends to have 12 V outputs as well.
Do you have a link to the TH-cam video of the conference by any chance, would love to see the output! But just got an ATEM mini on order as well and looking to test it real soon =)
Here are the three from this event! th-cam.com/video/emZGYOD_z_c/w-d-xo.html Looking back at it, those cameras are really struggling in that low office light. I'm definitely going to try better cameras next time! Sound is great tho!
@@aaronpk thank you!!! looking to use my panasonic ag-ac8 and sony mirrorless camera with mine, should be good camera wise! looking to be able to shoot more of these with minimal editing and the ATEM mini seems to be a good way to try it out! :)
Funny how I clicked 'Like' before I even watched your video :) I'm doing a live event in two days and it'll be interesting to see wether I will survive it. My setup will be slightly different as I will be using Zoom to livestream: I will be at the back of the room with the laptop running Zoom and livestreaming as a 'Host' with two cameras' feed coming from ATEM Mini (love that little thing!!!!) - one close up and the other wide shot while the presenter will be at the podium set up as a 'Panelist' and sharing his slides on Zoom (HDMI hardwired to the projector too) . So I should be able to swich between slides and video feed within Zoom itself and just use ATEM Mini to switch between two cameras. Getting the audio feed from the PA system into Mini. Well, that's the theory in my head anyway :) Will do a dummy run tomorrow to see if it works as I imagine. P.S. First time ever doing something like that.
Perfect addition to your other videos, as this provides great info for people like me who don't intend to Live Stream, but who do intend to record from the ATEM mini and then upload to TH-cam later! Two thoughts came to mind after watching . . . Do you still see a need for a Stream Deck given the iPad/Strata Macros app option you demonstrated (perhaps for a different type of project)? Also, the BM Video Assist recorder ($495) seems to do the job perfectly in your more recent videos, do you still see a need for the Hyperdeck Studio Mini ($695) that you used in your Behind the Scenes Conference video several months ago? Fantastic job providing quality info concisely and clearly in all of your videos!
Power Brick Problem: You could build a power plant, from an old PC Power Supply. Take one out of an old small form factor PC, like HP or DELL they are around 4"x4". Use the yellow (+) and black (-) for 12V DC. You have lots of 12V DC yellow wires and should get 10 to 20-AMP's of total power output. Some PSU's are smaller and might even be fanless. There are videos that show how to jump green wire to black on motherboard connector, to turn on PSU that is not in a computer connected to MB. Find some old wall-wart power plugs with correct plug for your equipment, to cut off and connect to PC PSU (save originals) that you are using to make your Power Plant. Of course, all this is if you are comfortable DIY building and plugging your equipment in this way. (At Your Own Risk!!) I did this once for a computer lab, where I had 3 or 4 LCD monitors that did not have the factory power plugs anymore and needed 12V DC. Worked great. You would be making something like this, but with higher AMP rating than this one, with only 5 AMP's. Plus the DIY one, made from old computer PSU, would have 5V DC as well if needed. www.amazon.com/ARyee-Adapter-Charger-Security-Surveillance/dp/B07CYMXSTW/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=Small+12DC+power+supply+with+multiple+plugs&qid=1583808927&sr=8-2
Wanted to add, you can also cut your Power Adapter plugs cord at about the half-way mark, and put Molex connections on to disconnected and plug into Power Plant wires. This way you don't have to find donor ones and would have the nice screw-on one for ATEM Mini connection. See Amazon link below. Serious question, how much do you charge for something like this? There is a lot involved. You're only recording for about an hour and a half but Including prepwork, live editing, etc. I would think $6-7k?
id doubt that as he said 30 mins setup so well assume 30 teardown also so 2:30 work time im not saying he is bad but for what hes doing paying several thousand dollars a hour is a wee bit steep id say a job like this would either be flat rated out at something like a grand or 2 or done hourly at under 200 a hour with a call up fee of 500 just to show up if your trying to price this yourself figure out what you need to be making hourly and price off that take into account your expenditures costs equipment fees buisness fees all that jaz
awesome info , Will attempt to build a similar set up. Is there anyway to make this more portable I'm using a Sony and have a recording limit and looking for some 4k camcorder options like Sony A33 or even the z90 any thoughts anyone??

I actually was wondering if I can ad the atem mini to my set up. I'm doing some streams for medical conferences using the Zoom solution. On my set up I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 with a Shure CV200 for the voice over and a Saramonic SC9 for the speakers. ZOOM uses a very crappy cam from logitech but I also record for posproduction and editing with a Lumix G7 and a G85. I was wondering if I can use de Atem mini to use the Lumix cams and if I can record video on the SD cards while streaming. Thanks for the video.
Unfortunately you can’t record on the LUMIX GX range and output to HDMI at the same time. Bit of a bummer really. The Atem mini record function does seem very reliable though especially if you go with a Sandisc SD card.
For the power situation - a suitably sized (ie, enough current) 12V power suppply, and a guitar pedal power daisy chain would do the trick. www.rockshop.co.nz/gear/Daisy-Chain or www.thomann.de/gb/rockboard_flat_daisy_chain_cable_6_a.htm - a lot of places have them.
The 2-input switcher is so that we can switch between the iPad and the presenter's slides to show on the projector in the room. There's no extra output on the ATEM Mini to be able to run the projector in the room from it. I do that in larger productions with the ATEM Television Studio's AUX output though.

You culd use a multi guitar pedal power supply for the 12v devices. You just have to get the right cables and adapters.
Hi,
I work with a team that streams live events for sports. I like the idea of having the mini WAP next to you for controlling the ATEM. Having the macro tool is now a must have I believe. I am going to review it now. Thanks for your great videos.
hello . can’t you please tell me if your camcorder canon vixia has clean hdmi output ? thank you
It does! That's the reason I use this camera
Also, is it the presenter that operates the device to switch between iPad and laptop? cheers
Hi Aaron- any chance of a reply please. Thanks
Any suggestions/ links on the barrel splitters etc?
Thanks in advance...
Hi Aaron, Im doing something similar the day after tomorrow, so your timing is excellent. I also have to stream live and do sound and video for a panel discussion. My hands will be very busy. Loving the videos.
th-cam.com/video/75ST8IoX_t4/w-d-xo.html
A very interesting and flexible portable setup. I followed most of it but have not understood how you got the audio into the R800 camera as according to the spec the R800 does not have an audio input, only an output. Is there some trick to it?
OK found it now, the R800 does have a mic in connection. The later one (R806) in our region don't.
Easiest budget option for recording of ATEM Mini (Not Pro) ???
For the sound issue (tapping the PA system) you need to run something like the Behringer Ultra DI to strip out the ground.
Good point.
I’m trying to make a set up for our band Cosmic Wagon.
But my echo could well be that the room corner I am streaming may be causing this, but wanted to rule out if it has to do with where the microphone is connected.
yeah, love these videos like this because the seem so practical. Thank you!
You could try recording in OBS, it's a free app and has lots of options for recording quality.
Thanks
Do you have a video on what to charge for conferences and how you figure all of that out?
Thanks for another great video. I am doing the same types of event recordings where I work. It's great to see how others approach similar situations. I would really love to see a more in depth video of your editing/rendering process, including the settings you use for Media Encoder ( I assume that is what you use). Anyway looking forward to more videos.
Good idea! I'll add that to my list. The short version tho is I use the 1080 TH-cam preset in media encoder and it seems to work well enough.
Can you also integrate a usb webcam plugged straight into the computer not in the atem mini but also use it in software?
@@aaronpk My apologies...I'm talking about the Roland video mixer. Thanks for responding so quickly.
I have a problem regarding connecting two Nikon D750 and Atem. So, when I connect everything by HDMI cables, Nikon shows in OBS, but only playback menu or photos taken earlier. What's wrong? ables/setup/setup in cameras?
You need to find the "clean HDMI out" setting. It looks like on this camera it's Setup -> HDMI -> Advanced -> Live view on-screen display -> Off
@@aaronpk Dear God, you saved me.:D So, just another question, any possibility to stream/record without camera LCD working?
Sorry, not sure about that one! I'm not super familiar with the Nikon cameras
@@aaronpk Thanks a lot for quick reply. Next step is AC adapter for Nikon:D
Aaron Parecki How different is a Rode Wireless Go to a wireless but analog System like the Sennheiser G4 HeadMic? What is your recommendation?
@@aaronpk Yes, thanks Aaron.
Is there a way to add lut's on specific HDMI inputs on the Atem Mini? I have different cameras which do not much match together so I have made my own Lut'S but I can't find a way to add them..
There isn't really any color processing in the ATEM, you'd have to add them in the camera or an external HDMI monitor before the ATEM
@@aaronpk okay thanks.. yes I have one Ninja V but I would need to buy a second one to add a lut to the second camera.. that‘s not cheap 😅 hopefully there will be one day a easier/ cheaper way to do this
Hi A.P, can you make the review of yolobox pro and Minemedia r8 4g? Both of them are a great choice for small meetings like...?
I have a bunch of videos about the YoloBox Pro now! th-cam.com/play/PLRyLn6THA5wN1ADH1nF_fIc_eFTrbaDV0.html I've seen that Minemedia R8 but haven't actually got my hands on one yet.
Aaron, in this video you say that you are able to get all your gear into this one rolling suitcase (great). Does this include your tripod?
No, this rolling suitcase is actually pretty tiny, it's like a large backpack.
@@aaronpk Thank you!
My partner and I do many funerals and we are always looking for ways to reduce the equipment we use and streamline how transport it! Thanks for your quick reply to my original question. Happy holidays to you and yours!
Sorry if this may sound a bit ignorant I'm only learning now how to use switchers to improve my work flow, what's the difference in terms of use between the Atem mini and Roland V-02?
I like your use of the Hollyland Mars 300. Has lag or latency been an issue? Have you used it for a camera?
I haven't used it on a camera yet, but I'm super curious! I might have to do a test to compare the latency on it!
You can get a guitar pedal board power supply that will support multiple 12V outlets from one power source!
I know it is not a direct apples to apples comparison, but what is your opinion about using the sling studio hub for doing the exact same thing? Had you considered it and what were the drawbacks?
I actually use the SlingStudio a lot! I should make a comparison video because there are a lot of interesting subtle differences
Aaron Parecki please do. Seeing how you have both devices.
@@aaronpk ok i will thanks
Can you please provide the lapel mic brand you are using with the RODE Wireless Go? I'm using a Samson lapel mic with the RODE and it will disconnect. I've even taped the cable to the RODE but it will eventually disconnect.
Can you explain how do you record with the sd card please. Thanks for this incredible video.
You may not be able to answer, but the Insta360 One R that has a Type C usb, would that work with this with the correct HDMI connector?
i haven’t used that camera. does its USB-C port output a video? if you can use a regular USB-C to HDMI adapter to get an HDMI signal out of it then it’ll work with the atem mini. but in my experience, that style of camera typically only supports video out through a built in HDMI port. let me know what you find out though!
Awesome video!
Question, please- Is it possible to do a mix-minus with a ATEM with a audio mixer board?
Wow! Thank you so much for this!
What about power bank with usb c PD and 12V?
@@aaronpk ur awesome. thanks
Did you have any problem with audio offset?
In this configuration the audio is coming thru the camera so it's in sync with the video. The only concern is bringing the the audio in via the 1/8" jack.
I love this setup. Fascinating video, cheers
I hope you plan on covering the ATEM Mini PRO sometime soon.
For sure! I'm super excited about it! Keep an eye out here
Thanks for all of your videos.
@@aaronpk you could stream without OBS correct? The BM software can connect directly to TH-cam or Facebook?
The blackmagic software is just to control the device. You need something else in order to stream on the internet. You can use OBS for this, or other software, or you can get dedicated hardware devices like the Webcaster X2 which I talked about in another video.
@@aaronpk thanks for the reply, I saw your video. But I thought I saw a video (not yours) that streamed from the BM software
2:05 How did you send 1 copy to the mixer and 1 copy to the projector? Thks.
There's a setting in the Roland to choose what you want to send to the second HDMI output. In my case I set them both to show program. Tho technically that wasn't necessary since the Hollyland has a passthru HDMI anyway.
Do you think it will also work with ATEM MINI (instead of V-02HD) ?
- with a hdmi splitter to output: 1 copy to mixer , 1 copy to projector
Do you have any sample footage from when using the the cannon cameras with the atem mini? Thanks.
Hey, I don’t know if I missed it but how are you recording the program out from the atem mini for post editing?
Blackmagic Video Assist! I think I mentioned that somewhere in the video
Aaron Parecki Thanks! I’m sure I accidentally missed it.
That's ok! There's a lot of content and I talk fast!
wow!! That was crazy awesome!
Cool! Maybe I can harvest old gear rather than buy more widgets. Thank you! P
Q - Thank you for all your helpful videos. Would you be willing to share how much you charge for a small conference like this?

looking to be able to shoot more of these with minimal editing and the ATEM mini seems to be a good way to try it out!
Nice! Sounds like a fun challenge! Best of luck!
Amazing you can get setup in 30mins and fit it in one bag!
(At Your Own Risk!!)
I did this once for a computer lab, where I had 3 or 4 LCD monitors that did not have the factory power plugs anymore and needed 12V DC.
Worked great.
You would be making something like this, but with higher AMP rating than this one, with only 5 AMP's. Plus the DIY one, made from old computer PSU, would have 5V DC as well if needed.

I would think $6-7k?
id doubt that as he said 30 mins setup so well assume 30 teardown also so 2:30 work time im not saying he is bad but for what hes doing paying several thousand dollars a hour is a wee bit steep
id say a job like this would either be flat rated out at something like a grand or 2 or done hourly at under 200 a hour with a call up fee of 500 just to show up
if your trying to price this yourself figure out what you need to be making hourly and price off that take into account your expenditures costs equipment fees buisness fees all that jaz

Interesting seeing your setup Aaron, thanks. I’ll get a few of my thoughts n the ATEM mini up soon. :-)

You can use it just over USB! Unlike the other ATEM models, the Software Control app works over the USB connection on this!
Aaron Parecki Actually I bought my ATEM Mini few weeks ago and testet it successfully. Everything worked the way it should.

@@stephencarter832 Thank you mate. You gave me a lot to think about to improve my work.
I’ll be streaming a concert tonight with 3 cameras and an ATEM Mini Pro. Not the first time.
what is your favorite SD card to use?
For the power situation - a suitably sized (ie, enough current) 12V power suppply, and a guitar pedal power daisy chain would do the trick. www.rockshop.co.nz/gear/Daisy-Chain or www.thomann.de/gb/rockboard_flat_daisy_chain_cable_6_a.htm - a lot of places have them.
What a great solution - what about enough power AC/DC adapter?
What app do you use with the atem mini
I watched this 3 times and cannot understand why you needed 2 video switchers. Why didn’t you run the presenter’s slide through the Atem mini?
The 2-input switcher is so that we can switch between the iPad and the presenter's slides to show on the projector in the room. There's no extra output on the ATEM Mini to be able to run the projector in the room from it. I do that in larger productions with the ATEM Television Studio's AUX output though.
If only I could get my hands on one of these! Already waiting two weeks to get my order.
Check DVE Store! They've had a few shipments recently!

Streamdeck to run the macros?
iPad app! I talk about it in the video!
Concise and very helpfull. Thank you.
Are you still using the slingstudio for projects?
Yea! I use it while traveling. Because it has a built in recorder and can also stream over the network it means a lot fewer devices and cables which really helps while traveling. I like both options a lot though!
