    I just used my Combro 625 today. Still works great. I bought it 20 years ago and it still gives great readings on my air rifles. I wish I could buy a second one to have as a backup but I can't find them for sale anymore.

    Had one for over a year, and no I've not blown it to pieces, and neither will you if you use it right ! Really useful bit of kit, especially for seeing how different weight pellets perform and that you're Legal !

    I’ve had one of these for years a MK 1 still going strong, and in all that time never shot the end off but unfortunately I dropped and broke it today. I went on the combro site and bought the bits to repair it and it came to £7.50 with p&p, these chronos are amazing value and easily repaired.

  • @markhomer3790

    Bought one of these years ago , it was all. Could afford at the time an " unmentioned " RFD advised me against buying one ,reason being it's inaccuracy , they were WRONG . I've since purchased a CHRONY f1 pro , and the 625 is right in the ballpark accuracy wise . But looking down the barrel too line up the Chrono is a very spooky operation , you just have that " feeling " no matter how many times you've checked / double checked there may be something ready to hit you in the eye ... That would not sting .. I'm 99% sure that you would be dead .. the little plastic locater didn't come with the Chrono originally , but I purchased one as an accessory later .. best couple of quid I've spent ... The new ones ( I understand DO come with locater ) now ... The only problem I had , was the slide you adjust it with ( after loosening he chrome knob ) was really stiff .. minor irritation ,csorted by a drop of lube ..
    Merry Xmas too you and you wife .. and all subscriber of this channel ... And have a great ( and safe shooting ) New year ..

      Nice one Mark, they are good and I too share your concerns about peering down a barrel. Always double and triple check before you do so. Happy Christmas mate to all and family.

      Love mine to. I have compared Combro wiht Chrony. The difference is hardly 1 fps.

  • @DualDesertEagle
    @DualDesertEagle 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for mentioning the accuracy, that's really mostly all I care about. I'm about to get one of these used and it might just be the perfect device to chrono my airsoft tri-barrel shotgun with. It would usually fire 3 BBs at once but for chronoing it accurately I'd load only 1 BB at a time, but since it's hard to keep the 1 active inner barrel aligned with any other chrono it would sure as hell help to have this thing strapped to the barrel and just shoot through it without having to worry about hitting the chrono.

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      mmmm, careful, 1 pellet instead of 3 with not give you accurate readings for 3 pellets.

    • @DualDesertEagle
      @DualDesertEagle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@airgunology Yes, it will, since each of the 3 BBs is fired from a separate barrel-cylinder-piston system.

    hi steve,i got one and it was cheap and does the job and i like it,talking about air gun safety about 30 yrs ago my brother was shot with one,his mate was messing about with one, it was loaded and yes it went off from about 2yds away it hit my brother dead center between his eyes, he was taken to hospital and an X-ray showed it about 1inch inside his head, they said it was to risky to operate,and so decided to leave it in, it is still in his head till this day with out giving him any problems,they said he might blow his nose one day and the pellet will drop out.regards john.

    bought one for use on my HW97k, saved the day when I fitted replacement spring (told genuine) found it to be well underpowered, had the evidence and got refund next spring purchased fitted and tested bang on when fitted with tinbum short stroke kit plus spring sleeve. now shooting smoothly and accurately at
    11.3ft lb . with the cost, easy to set up and use, but more fiddly with the 97 due to under lever having to fit it at angle because of under lever latch housing.

    One thing for sure you can never be too safe! I was clearing my AK & the bolt does not lock back. I was certain the gun was clear as I went to dry fire it there was a round in the chamber & it went through a door & 2 walls. Just cause it's a pellet gun does not mean it can't harm or kill. A .22lr is more dangerous then a higher power cal cause it can ricochet inside the body.

    You haven't explained the function of the knurled brass screw on the front end. This screw allows you to line up with the barrel by sliding the chrono up an down in front of the barrel attachment and then tighten up when aligned.

    If you feel weird about the barrel, just leave the bolt open. I have even used a strong flashlight at either end and see if it lights up something in the the other end before staring down there lol (OK I always do but I feel silly for it). Technically you could still get a lead shaving shot into your face in a crazy rare malfunction I suppose. Definitely not a fatal deal though haha. Your chopstick trick is great too. Good news.. Looks like the cheapos today are made differently with a larger opening so that is cool. No need to have such an exact alignment. Safety third!!

  • @auldman

    Agree about need for being sure you don’t get shot. It is down to human error and always fully implementing a secure procedure every time. Idiots will always find ingenious ways to hurt themselves.
    What I like about is you can get a “Blueshot” lead that sends the shot data to your android device for a permanent record without having to (a) write the fps down and then (b) transfer it into a spreadsheet.

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is a good system, but has obvious safety issues. In the right hands it is a cracking piece of kit and the accessories to connect to a phone are great as well. Recommended, as long as you are careful.

    Hi Steve. Jelly hell... but my´n did´t come with this yellow barrel thing. So I use the straw . But!!!!!! You forgot a big point; this unit don´t work exactly at stronger " springers" ( gas ram)!!!! I have one of this and it just works with one of the no recoil air guns . At my HW 77 k it shows me 640 fps to 980 fps with the same pellet ! I did the test 3 times , any time the same result . I have to use glue to fix it "dern" to the barrel , but my rifle is more important !
    Anyway, great video!!!! Thanks

    Great review, I will say though that having sold and used these for a few years, they are not always suitable for CO2 cartridge rifles / pistols as the CO2 will cause you to get a false reading, same as the oil from some springers. Maybe you could do a video testing a CO2 pistol / Rifle or a springer with the Combro CB625 vs the Chrony F1 :) BTW, did you get the pellets ok?

    I understand gun safety I really do but I don’t understand why your so worried about looking down the end of your barrel, if your the only one using your gun and you know there’s no pellets in there what’s the worse that can happen a face full of air lol, an if you got a springer just don’t cock it it can’t fire simple lol. I’ve got one of these myself and I do use the tool provided but I’ll always check visual, slate me if you like but I know my rifles and I know when there loaded or not

      Hi steve my chrono didn't come with the alignment tool after contacting the shop they said it was an extra.Okay i have some experience with air rifles so no problem i will get one or use something else to check,but a new comer into the sport wouldn't think twice thinking just put it on my gun barrel that will do could be a disaster waiting to happen.All these chronos should have the alignment tool as standard i believe the earlier ones didnt have them included which isn't right from a safety perspective.

    Is it possible to attach this to an air pistol?

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      might be, depends on the length and shape of the barrel. If it fits it will work as just measuring speed of pellet.

    poor boys chronograph. by BT. one telephone directory 2" thick. if the pellets went passed page 20 your weapon was not a toy. all our power was sorted this way. If your pellet went halfway in. you were chuffed and had bragging rights. if the pellet went all the way through you were top dog. but your Dad would take it off you, so you kept quite on that. I do not remember the make of that air rifle that was back in the 50s.

    Safety safety safety you should stress how important safety is
    You mention it 4 or 5 times but should mention safety every 20 seconds or so.
    SAFTEY FIRST.

    Lucky you're not in Canada I'd you feel uncomfortable putting your head in front of the barrel, when you take your hunting class here they teach you the safest way to make sure your gun is clear is to look down the barrel lol and that's with real rifles and shotguns

    +steve Allen do you know why its under 12ftlb limit ? the reason is you cannot break the sound barrier from sub 12ftlb..you can buy expensive super light pellets but never really make it much past 900fps..230+ fps shy of mach 1.
    loud noise is the quickest way to annoy people and get into an argument...in the uk we have 6+ million people in dense areas regulary shooting air weapons in back yards...i live on a rough ish council estate and id literally be pissing off everyone in a 400meter+ radius...thats probably several hundred homes putting up we me legally going BOOOOM every 10 secs...id have enough bricks thrown through my window to build an extension after the first days shooting 😆..so to save us from ourselves its sub 12ftlb..
    if it was about power my 150lb crossbow would be regulated as its got equal/more power then a live 22short pistol round and some sub sonic 22lr ammo..🙂👍🏻

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No sure whether to believe this or not ????

    • @TheCraigy83
      @TheCraigy83 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i could of give you more to work with..
      to break mach 1 you would need to get a super light 5gr leadfree tin pellet and sand/pollish as much as you dare to get a 4gr pellet if its even possible...the maths say 11.3fpe will be super sonic but lead free dont deform to the rifling and take almost 1fte just to shift out the barrel compared to lead...its probably possible with a smooth bore barrel with a modded 4gr pellet..smooth bore rifles are usually cheap and not full powered tho..you would have to really go out of your way to legally break the sound barrier...
      a guy two streets from me killed a lady with a sub12 .22 with a heart shot..hes called david edwards it happen in hull around 2002 ish..
      his slow fat .22 pellet made it through a jumper t shirt and a bra and still damaged her heart...and either calibres will deal a fatal headshot all day long at even 9ftlb...Germany know this so limit their guns to 6fpe..but our police just really care about not policing the sound barrier...they would have to force everyone to use silencers and add a set limit that some kid banging on a set of drums might breach...it would be a mess...easy to limit sub sound barrier instead...
      why else would we still have a limit thats still lethal as f ?
