  • We tackle an ongoing issue with our Hydronic heating system where every time the burner kicks on it smokes like a freight train. With a GRAND amount of help from another TH-camr…zmotorsports…we tackle a job that while not difficult, just takes some patience.

Great job on the Webasto burner rebuild.
I am flattered by the comments and like you, I just wanted to hopefully help someone else who may be experiencing similar symptoms.
I am glad my video was helpful.

Man we can never thank you enough for the info. Will push your videos as much as we can. They are an invaluable amount of information. We picked up a HEMI for the JK but I’m leaning to selling and doing an LS due to your videos. Thanks.

@@ALongLongWaytoGO you won't regret it. I have 45k miles on my 6.2 LS swap now and still grin like an idiot every time I turn the key and drive it.
It is so mild mannered and docile yet a monster when you push on the skinny pedal. I love both the on-road as well as off-road feel off it.
Best of luck with whichever direction you go on the JK.

Another great video . I had a float switch go bad while we were in Yuma two weeks ago. Red light on the control panel water level was lit up. Got real lucky as there was an add in a local paper for HydroHot repair technician in Yuma. Gave him a call and he had a new brass float valve on his truck. Mine was plastic just as he said. It broke off in the tank just as he said they do. You might want to shine a flashlight on yours to see if it’s plastic. It’s gonna fail if it is. Matter of time he told me. Harbor Freight had the socket (to remove oxygen sensor on exhaust system 3/4”) to install the new valve. Between you and ZMotorsports I feel very lucky You guys share you knowledge. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip…will do. Cause I guarantee you if it’s gonna happen to me and this Hydro~Hot…it’s gonna happen. This thing loves to tick me off 6 days out of the week !!! And a HUGE thanks for watching. Sorry about how long it was.

So your saying to use an oxygen sensor socket to be able to unscrew the old switch assembly for removal? Sounds painless enough. A Saturday afternoon and a few basic hand tools. ( 2 days later )……LOL

Yep, my bad I said 3/4” it’s a 7/8” oxygen sensor socket, you know the one that has the side slot where you tuck the wires in when removing or installing the sensor. My plastic unit was a 1” socket , I just cut off the wires and used a regular socket cause it was bad. Being plastic and old and heated and cooled all those cycles it twisted the head off of the old sensor. Had to take a pick and dig out the plastic that was left in the threads where it mounts to the tank. I used a little wire brush to clean up the threads as I didn’t have a tap to use to redress the threads. The main body of the sensor is now in the bottom of the tank just as the guy said it would. Maybe you can get yours out in one piece. The new brass unit is marked so you know when it is “clocked” at the right position when reinstalling the sensor so the float end is in the right spot. The new brass sensor cost $285 from the tech. I met him in a Walmart parking lot to buy it from him. Kinda felt like a drug deal gone bad lol! I’m not sure if I paid to much as I looked online and found them under 10 bucks. It did have the same manufacturer tag on the wires as the old one that came out so check around you might find one that’ll work for a lot less than I paid. I very much enjoy your videos. Have you decided on headlight replacement yet?

I figured it was 7/8. I have to change oxygen sensors every 90 days in the industry I work in ( Feds at work ya know..LOL )….We do have the new headlights. They look awesome just haven’t stuck myself in the eye yet to tackle those. Previously someone had epoxied all the headlight adjusters into the buckets. Brainstorming now for solution. Stay tuned video coming soon !!! LOL

I don't have the Hydro Hot, but a discontinued Aqua Hot of which I have not picked up the coach yet. I got to say of all the systems these coaches have, this hydronic heater scares me the most. The mechanical maintenance and/or repairs don't necessarily scare me it's when the wife has no hot water......yikes! Good job, and explanation of the repair.

LOL….That thing is pretty cool. We are actually going to permanently mount in the Jeep with an air fitting on each bumper.
