- TVS's new flagship the Apache RTR 310 is loaded to the T with electronics which help it stand out from its competition but also puts it precariously close to the much more powerful 2024 KTM Duke 390 in terms of pricing. But after riding the top end variant in Bangkok, Sarge had the nagging feeling that the base variant of the RTR 310 could actually turn out to be the true unsung hero in TVS's lineup that can take the fight to the 2024 KTM Duke 250 and the Triumph Speed 400. But is that really the case? Sarge hops on to find out.

You know, the throttle on the urban and rain mode on my RR 310 also feels snappier than it does in the track and sport mode. I thought I was just being paranoid about it. But I’m glad you brought it up! I’ve not seen anyone talk about this.

The base varient is crazy value for money!
So many bikes have ride by wire these days but only tvs has the balls to stick a cruise control on a 313cc 2.4L ex showroom machine!!!
They kind of deserve bike of the year over the Himalayan/ Duke well maybe a threeway tie between Husqvarna 401 + Aprilia 457 !

And also even base variant, correct me if i am wrong comes with steel braided brake lines. It got packed with quality components. i like the chain has a idler roller to keep it from bouncing while riding. yes its low on power but the principles of a quality bike is there and i would like to see in future this should be made available to other siblings in this segment.

Yeah, the top spec variant comes close to 390 in terms of price and TVS is getting trashed by everyone for that. But somehow, the duke 250 which is priced close to RTR310 gets a pass and no one ever seems to complain about it. The typical indian mindset of hating their own country product whether it's bike or cricketer or actor but loves to praise and accept every other country products. Feels very weird man.

I think we both have discussed how TVS media/TD units are vibey but the customer bikes are not actually. People who know, they know. Many people rode my friend's BTO RTR310 and were so confused, had to see their faces. Nice video! Cheers.

Another great video sarge! Which do you think would make for a great sport tourer..possibly even a Ladakh trip(mainly keeping in mind minimum vibes at the cruising speeds of 80 to 130)amongst the three? Speed 400, rtr 310 and duke 250?

Yes, we need bigger variety of brands and models here, is a big market, and thank goodness interesting Indian brands is looking us, Royal Enfield is expanding with a factory, also Bajaj is selling lots of Dominar 400 with waiting list and a factory to be starting production in April, Zontes started well, but the local dealer raised the prices and the sales went way down.
hey sarge, I am upgrading from rtr 200 and I need an absolute fun to ride motorcycle with bulletproof reliability . My options - CB 300R , RTR 310 (mid) , Duke 390 , Svartpilen 401 . I suppose the more the bike is loaded with tech and electronics the more it robs away from the reliability. Your opinions please!
I think CB300R is your safest bet from a reliability stand point

Now that's a video which hits the spot 😌 Loved it Sarge. As a potential buyer I will definitely be taking the top variant in consideration for the two reason :
1. Been dreaming to own an Apache since 12 years now. So it's an emotional thing which will definitely make me get the top end variant.
2. I respect the KTM and at that price the apache really don't hold the handle but thats just not my cup of tea 😅.
Will surely wait for couple of months more. I'm not one of those who gets the newly launched bike. I'll let TVS iron out those flaws which can be fixed.

I would say the rtr mid because it is just as engaging to ride and offers better value

The foot pegs being a little forward set makes it a bit odd for a track bike which is what some would want to buy the RTR for. Otherwise it’s a great great bike for the money! Great video Sarge 🫡

@@harihhs5520 It has got some vibrations for sure. But after 2 oil changes they have settled a lot and there's a noticeable improvement.

This chassis needs bigger engine or it will not sell in india..how about 270* twin 600 for 5L sells like hot cake..

KTM Duke 250 Gen3 / Triumph Speed 400 / Honda CB300R / TVS Apache RTR 310 Base or Mid variant -- all of these are roughly in the same price range

Listen carefully to what I have said. Make a note. Take a test ride and ride at the rpms and gears i have mentioned and then decide.

might consider the triumph speed 400 as it is a better motorcycle in the 400cc . the service interval and less expensive to maintain is main key to buy

If you can stretch your budget the ktm is definitely the way to go
Hands down it looks good but the engine don’t do justice at all, it vibrates a lot.

Both 310 looks super good and rr is my favourite in terms of design but what let's it down is TVS service center experience.
I have seen 10 different service center and all of them were equally bad 😡 ( they just won't believe, they never expect their fault and most importantly they are inexperienced to work on 310 or even rtr200 for that matter)

I feel TVS could have built a slightly bigger engine in terms of capacity because most people I know are either buying a 250 or a bigger 400/500. I know "cc" doesn't give you the full spill but people do look at just "cc". The bike as it is, is very good. The price and options available make it an uphill climb for RTR 310.

Test rode it yesterday, i own a duke 390 which is already viby but Apache amazed me with the amount of bad vibs it has, its more gimmicy . But the quickshifter is amazing and easily the best implementation
This is the second bike i have ridden and it's a dealer bike as it's the middle variant and it was anything but vibey

Hey Sagar bhai, i am your huge admirer. And i consider you my Guru as i too give reviews heavily inspired from your style. However, in this video i seriously think that you should have given it to the TVS against the duke 390 because duke is not at all a practical motorcycle and can be used only for the showoff and track purpose only. TVS on the other hand is a pure Rider's bike. Not limited to just one character. I might be wrong and please correct me as you are still my Guruji ❤️🙏🏼

Any suggestion on a good helmet for Daily + Touring on RR310 with good visibility also, where I have space to mouth GoPro as well. Currently I've got MT Thunder 3 SV which I am really not comfortable with also I did a mistake while buying Its a bit bigger. Please suggest looking forward for your response :)
Have been using the Axor Apex carbon for a while and that's a good option
A bike that i won't own even if given free, any bike with this 310cc engine is a Big no, its a below average engine.

If you are considering the top variant also give the duke 390 a try
But I still don't see many rtrs310s on road..
That's because TVS have mainly focussed their marketing efforts on the top expensive variant and ignored the more affordable base variant. Hence this review
