As a fan of Dead Island and Dying Light, I can say that the second part of Dead Island is better than I could have expected. If you compare Dead Island 1 and Dead Island 2, I would say that the second part could be much better, the game feels shortened especially for people who played the first part. In the trailer, we could see cars that can be driven (In the old trailer) but this feature was removed and the size of the map was reduced, the story of the game could be longer because now the game can be completed in 10 hours. Dead Island 2, despite everything listed above, is a good game, even though the game was made short, but they did not forget to finalize it and the game is fun.

The original dead island felt a lot more dark, gritty, and "realistic." While I think 2 is fun and has a lot of improvements, I do miss the feel of the original. It felt hopeless.
Is the same with dying light, the numbers flopping in screen, the heath and stam bars, this assumed ''rpg'' personality cutted the vibe in a game more viasually realistic, but i think that is the propose in dead island 2...

my friend group found a way to item dupe i don’t even remember how we did it, but we all had a modded shotgun called “The Homerun Crowdpleaser”. it had infinite ammo, lit zombies on fire, electrocuted them, and sent them flying 50 feet back. it became such a staple of the group we started speedrunning to see how quickly we could finish the game with just that alone.

DISE went crazyyy back then. I'd put the mindblowing dev mod on guns and homerun dev mod on brass knuckles. unlock all skill trees on one character. it was so fun.

2:00 - btw in the vanila DI (Not Definitive Edition) you was able to sink zombies in the water, they were actually dying everytime they fall in water, and it was really cool, but after devs fixed (changed) this in remaster game i started to miss it😃

Personally I didn’t have any issue with zombies drowning I just get why in retrospect they’d decide not to have it be a thing.
I love how realistic the state of the body is with different status effects. Like when the Zombie burns it looks really crisby and if covered in acid its melting its skin. I still don't understand why this game wasn't banned at all in Germany at the beginning, like Dead Island 1 (just lost its ban recently) and Dying Light 1 (still banned today). Now it came only with some minor censury, the only cut content in the German Version is the maiming of already defeated Zombies, which makes no sense to be honest. Its really random in my Country. Thats why I mostly buy the Austrian or Swiss Version the German Uncut Versions.
For a game that has been delayed multiple times and switched developers a few times, it actually came out pretty good and fun! looking at you duke nukem forever😂 I'm happy to own all the dead islands and dying lights, some of my favorite games of all time.

It has bar none the most brutal gore system I have ever seen and even after two playthroughs, I still find new ways to maim zombies I never knew I could. Now with the inclusion of New Game+ I’m jumping in again, the main problem of DI2 imo is that there simply isn’t enough of what makes it so fun. But that’s a problem that can be fixed quite easily. I have hope that Dambuster can keep this franchise alive because DI2 has NO right to be this good, considering how fucked the development was.
I mean the fact that DI2 doesn’t even have true reflections in mirrors is kinda upsetting, no reflections of the character models in the mirrors either. And the sound design for walking over floors with wet shoes sounds like a baby duck following you around. DI1 had some really horrifying sound effects with the zombies, the bass in the zombie noises was more throatier and deep and it was intimidating to hear. I love DI2 but I can’t wait to see what they do with the updates and what they do to make it better.
I agree I loved the atmosphere of the first two games sure the game had lots of issues but they absolutely NAILED the zombies and the overall atmosphere it felt tense and hopeless and I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes to look at the character I’m playing as I really wish we could’ve seen the characters more in gameplay they absolutely could’ve made the characters have reflections
I definitely enjoy Dead Island 2's gameplay more and the gsme looks better, so for those reasons i like it more. I also like the classes in this one a bit better and abilities. However there are some things the first Dead Island did better like the horror and also the stakes, like in the first one friendly NPCs that you helped in quests could eventually get turned into zombies (the gas station dudes from what i recall), and i also miss the driving, and in 1 you feel more intimidated by the zombies bc if youre not careful you can die easily in 1 especially ehen it came to the tougher zombies like thugs and those dudes who'd ram into you. Dead Island 2 tskes more inspiration from Borderlands or Doom, where combat is mostly the focus and the maps are kind of built around that, which this game has its stakes too and can also be creepy but i just think thr first one pulled off the horror better.
I guess they changes a lot in dead island 2 so it doesn't feel like a copy n pasted game. all the differences is what makes it stand out from the original
I personally prefer the first one I liked the aesthetic better and the fact that it took place on an ACTUAL island I liked that the zombies virus was more realistic and believable the second games virus doesn’t align with the original at all apparently everyone has it? I also wish they could’ve made Sam B look more like himself in DI2 he looks younger and lankier than he did in the original

They seriously need to add an update to increase zombie npcs.. I seen alot of footage so far qnd can say that it looks like they spawn in small groups and certain locations instead of being spread out.. that really kills the atmosphere for me.

Dead Island 2 has some of the best graphics I've ever seen, especially on consoles. Can't wait for nex-gen when, apparently, consoles will be up to par with high-end gaming PCs.
A lot of details lacking and the environment is not desolate at all, but still a really fun detailed game the 2nd one turned out to be. I'm about 50 percent done on the xsx and it runs super well with no stutters and fast loading at 4k. I'm a pc main. Just impressed.
i just bought DI2 a month ago, and i remember climbing on vehicles in di1 and riptide in order to escape and breath. so imagine how bad someone shit my pants when i witnessed a runner jump up onto the hood of a cargo van i was hiding on in di2.
Most annoying thing for me: You shoot a head in DI2 and....half of it comes off. In the old games, it shattered...same for meelee. And all heavy meelee weapons feel like slow-mo...

Dead island 1 had me scared shitless i would find myself running through doors and just locking them behind me but in dead island 2 for some dumb ass reason they decided to remove the door closing which has litterally made it unplayable because 15 zombies in a storage closet is not a fun or scary its just annoying but dead island 1 had the worst driving and terrible aiming for guns.
I honestly would've prefered the game to be on an actual island like the first game specially with the gorgeous graphics. But still fun honestly, the gore is top notch.
I played DI1 and Riptide (I finished both last monday) until I had money to buy DI2, and I realized that it has a very light system of gore/cuts on the zombies' bodies (at specific points depending on where you hit, but without detailing and it doesn't even matter the type of weapon). It was probably already an old plan to this elaborate gore system that they couldn't achieve at the time of release.

I doubt they'll add more slayers, since it'd mean reworking the whole introduction cinematic, voice the whole game with said slayer and make the new slayer special so it feels a little bit different from the other ones. So sadly no slayers ;(. Perhaps they could in a DLC tho
The description for the expansion pass lists new weapons, skills, areas, missions, zombies and a character pack, but I think that's for cosmetics and not an actual new character.

Dead Island 1 had it's fair share of problems, and so does Dead Island 2. But they're both fun in their own ways I find. Dead Island 2 is fun in terms of gameplay, but Dead Island 1 actually had a longer story. Not to mention, although Dead Island 2 has a decent story, I personally think the first one was better written
By far the physics is what made the original so good to me. 2 feels horrible, no impact at all and they just tank hits. Dont even get me started on throwing weapons, they absolutely ruined those.
One of my biggest upsets about Dead Island 2 is its desolate areas of zombies its almost like they finished a game without much of the main core of the game actually inside of it. Pick Venice Beach for example there is literally nothing there just a few crusty zombies and a few sand dwellers that pop up every now and then or maybe the odd crusher here or there and thats it, they really shoulda put more zombies inside of this game it feels like they scaled right back on the amount of zombies there is to fight or stay away from. Like they shoulda put more zombies in the game and possibly maybe thought about making some proper no go areas or maybe horde areas or something like that it just does not look like a city of literally millions that have succumbed to infection or that have been trapped there I mean how many were they really supposed to have escaped?
Did you use the original Dead Island version or did you use the Definitive version of it? Asking since, there is a lot of things that the Definitive version just flat out broke when it comes to the physics. ( More than some.. )
I played the whole story with Ryan. I didn't paid much attention at the begining and saw him dressed as a firefighter, instantly thinking that in a realistic situation, he'll be the most accurate pick in a zombie apocalypse, just to finish and later find out he was actually a stripper in a firefighter costume...(No, I didn't played the first game before)
Both dead islands have vastly different worlds, so can't really compare them all that much, but Dead Island 1's world was more gritty, and the animations were way better on Dead Island 2, it's not even disputable

Blood effects in this game are amazing. But it vanishes after like 10 seconds, meaning the aftermath will always feel dull as hell. You can't sit there and enjoy the mess you made in this game. And don't tell me "mods will fix that", no, the console players also need some satisfaction.

Paradise vacation, a place where family usuly go and have their best memories and it's quit, sad. The pool full of blood ect. You can hear the exotic birds in the distance. But di2 is above the first one in everything. It has its own vibe.

And the sound design for walking over floors with wet shoes sounds like a baby duck following you around. DI1 had some really horrifying sound effects with the zombies, the bass in the zombie noises was more throatier and deep and it was intimidating to hear. I love DI2 but I can’t wait to see what they do with the updates and what they do to make it better.
I agree I loved the atmosphere of the first two games sure the game had lots of issues but they absolutely NAILED the zombies and the overall atmosphere it felt tense and hopeless and I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes to look at the character I’m playing as I really wish we could’ve seen the characters more in gameplay they absolutely could’ve made the characters have reflections

The game is more gloomy, especially when you play solo. Especially dark vibes feel in City of Morbey and Sewer.
I definitely enjoy Dead Island 2's gameplay more and the gsme looks better, so for those reasons i like it more. I also like the classes in this one a bit better and abilities. However there are some things the first Dead Island did better like the horror and also the stakes, like in the first one friendly NPCs that you helped in quests could eventually get turned into zombies (the gas station dudes from what i recall), and i also miss the driving, and in 1 you feel more intimidated by the zombies bc if youre not careful you can die easily in 1 especially ehen it came to the tougher zombies like thugs and those dudes who'd ram into you. Dead Island 2 tskes more inspiration from Borderlands or Doom, where combat is mostly the focus and the maps are kind of built around that, which this game has its stakes too and can also be creepy but i just think thr first one pulled off the horror better.
I guess they changes a lot in dead island 2 so it doesn't feel like a copy n pasted game. all the differences is what makes it stand out from the original

They seriously need to add an update to increase zombie npcs.. I seen alot of footage so far qnd can say that it looks like they spawn in small groups and certain locations instead of being spread out.. that really kills the atmosphere for me.

Dead Island 2 has some of the best graphics I've ever seen, especially on consoles. Can't wait for nex-gen when, apparently, consoles will be up to par with high-end gaming PCs.

A lot of details lacking and the environment is not desolate at all, but still a really fun detailed game the 2nd one turned out to be. I'm about 50 percent done on the xsx and it runs super well with no stutters and fast loading at 4k. I'm a pc main. Just impressed.

Dead island 1 had me scared shitless i would find myself running through doors and just locking them behind me but in dead island 2 for some dumb ass reason they decided to remove the door closing which has litterally made it unplayable because 15 zombies in a storage closet is not a fun or scary its just annoying but dead island 1 had the worst driving and terrible aiming for guns.
I honestly would've prefered the game to be on an actual island like the first game specially with the gorgeous graphics. But still fun honestly, the gore is top notch.

I played DI1 and Riptide (I finished both last monday) until I had money to buy DI2, and I realized that it has a very light system of gore/cuts on the zombies' bodies (at specific points depending on where you hit, but without detailing and it doesn't even matter the type of weapon). It was probably already an old plan to this elaborate gore system that they couldn't achieve at the time of release.

While in Dead Island 2, it is now a massive feature, but it feels like they always wanted a system like the F.L.E.S.H system since the start, and I vaguely remember before the OG Dead Island was released, that was the plan and while it is there, it is very bare bones compared to what we got in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 1 had it's fair share of problems, and so does Dead Island 2. But they're both fun in their own ways I find. Dead Island 2 is fun in terms of gameplay, but Dead Island 1 actually had a longer story. Not to mention, although Dead Island 2 has a decent story, I personally think the first one was better written
Longer story it basically has 8 to 9 hr max gameplay and dead island 2 has like 18. Hours
One thing I will say about the old one is the physics look really good and like things have more proper weight
By far the physics is what made the original so good to me. 2 feels horrible, no impact at all and they just tank hits. Dont even get me started on throwing weapons, they absolutely ruined those.

One of my biggest upsets about Dead Island 2 is its desolate areas of zombies its almost like they finished a game without much of the main core of the game actually inside of it. Pick Venice Beach for example there is literally nothing there just a few crusty zombies and a few sand dwellers that pop up every now and then or maybe the odd crusher here or there and thats it, they really shoulda put more zombies inside of this game it feels like they scaled right back on the amount of zombies there is to fight or stay away from. Like they shoulda put more zombies in the game and possibly maybe thought about making some proper no go areas or maybe horde areas or something like that it just does not look like a city of literally millions that have succumbed to infection or that have been trapped there I mean how many were they really supposed to have escaped?
Did you use the original Dead Island version or did you use the Definitive version of it? Asking since, there is a lot of things that the Definitive version just flat out broke when it comes to the physics. ( More than some.. )

I played the whole story with Ryan. I didn't paid much attention at the begining and saw him dressed as a firefighter, instantly thinking that in a realistic situation, he'll be the most accurate pick in a zombie apocalypse, just to finish and later find out he was actually a stripper in a firefighter costume...(No, I didn't played the first game before)

The zombie physics are so damn good in di2, they remind me of the euphoria engine.
Do not compare to that GTA trash. I like GTA, but GTA is washed up. The new Vice City look is trash, if that's their new engine. 🙂 I have very high expectations. Tchia and DI2 both blew Doom graphics out of the water. No Final Fantasy looks this good. The ray-tracing is optimized on console.

Blood effects in this game are amazing. But it vanishes after like 10 seconds, meaning the aftermath will always feel dull as hell. You can't sit there and enjoy the mess you made in this game. And don't tell me "mods will fix that", no, the console players also need some satisfaction.
