- The best comparison between the two games Dead Island 2 (2023) and Dying Light 2 Stay Human (2022), I will compare the most important similarities, physics, details, textures and special places in the game. The entire video was created by myself (GameLight).
Dead Island 2 is the sequel to the zombie survival action game set in infected California, which is cordoned off by US troops, just a few months after the incident of the first part.
The development of the game started in 2012, and ended up in "Production Hell" and for which the game changed three developers, at the moment the game was created by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver

Both games showed a very good result, I did not include some aspects, because adding it would be unfair.
Dying Light 2 (cons and pros)
Cons: Combat sometimes doesn't register hits, There are a couple of bugs, All zombies feel the same, You can turn into a mutant only in missions.
Pros: Huge map, weather conditions, Good skill Tree, Huge number of zombies.
Dead Island 2 (cons and pros)
Cons: The map is small (Compared to Dying Light 2), A few zombies in one location, Zombies spawn very quickly, doesn't have a clear storyline.
Pros: Killing zombies is fun, Every corner of the map is detailed, Detailed zombies, interesting zombie mutants.
I'm glad that the games are different, and not copying each other, Dying Light 2 has its own originality, so does Dead Island 2. This is just my opinion, everyone has their own preferences.

I think there are many differences between them because Dying Light 2 is story-based, while Dead Island 2 is more of a hack and slash game. And that's why both are different. Here, however, we only saw what Dead Island 2 is capable of and compared it to what Dying Light 2 can do. The only problem is that Dead Island 2 is only capable of so much, nothing more. This si a Hack and Slash game. Dying Light 2, on the other hand, knows much more, parkour, stealth, fighting against people, which again requires a different fighting style. and of course it's more story based with 5 endings. These always get left out somehow.

Dying light 2 is a great game to sit and play through. Dead island 2 is less heavy on the story but has a really, really solid and fun sandbox. I find myself getting home from work and hopping on not to do any missions but just run around Venice beach and slay some zombies with TH-cam in the background. The interactive environments and multitude of ways to make every single kill unique gives a special replay value for many. I never did that with dying light 2, I played it and finished it. Haven’t really gone back since.

As i recall some of the old dev of dead island actually working on dying light, after dead island riptide stuff happen so dead island literally have to go through like 2-3 different game dev to have the complete game like now

@@Cookie4yabro it's amazing. bought it bought a week ago and I am taking my sweet time on the story cuz I can spend so much time just admiring the zombie gore and stuff like that. I recommend the brass knuckles and impactor mod cuz it makes you feel like you're in spartan rage.

Honestly both games are special in there own way. I'm enjoying both games to be honest. Both games were made for different kinds of fans. Im a fan of both. Each game has it's weaknesses and strongs.

Great video just wished you could've shown off DI2's combat a bit more, how every weapon type has a different heavy animation/move and how you can use it on any part of zombie body to reflect gore in any way you'd like.
Thanks mate, I removed this part, because in Dead Island 2 there are also finishing off zombies with different weapons, and comparing these factors for fans of Dying Light and Dead Island would be unfair.

Dead island 2 environment and setting is way better than dying light 2 imo. They should've done something similar instead of going way into the post apocalyptic setting
Agree on this point. Environments don't feel monotonous (Copy and Paste) even though the map is small compared to Dying Light 2
I agree 100% with this bro. The weapons in DL2 feel boring with how everything is like hand made or makeshift weapons. There's no guns except the ones you craft that shoot like a musket LOL. DI2 has actual real world weapons that feel realistic in the setting to use imo

Agrees with you friend, The weapons feel monotonous, so that in Dead Island 2 brass knuckles start to hit with crits and faster, after the first part of Dying Light, I would like to see at least a rare firearm. I find it very funny that Dying Light 2 released updates at the launch of Dead Island 2 so that people would not notice the Gore system so much. I love Dead Island 2 and Dying Light, and each game has its downsides.
Yeah, that was the one thing that took me way out of DL2. Its hard to think there still using gas generators 20yrs later. And the whole forest ontop of buildings thing just makes every building structly unstable. Should have just made the two ares then a big open area agian with the dune buggys. Also, why introduce that in the first game, to not have it in the second? Still have gas for thous generators...

@Bzake DI2 it feels the zombies barely react to your hits. You sit there bashing them with a big ass hammer and they just sit there standing still continuing to hit you. Dying Light 2 is "floaty" because its actually real gravity. Currently after some updates combat is better in Dying Light 2 than the first, parkour got upgraded etc.

Dambuster studio puts every other high budget game developer to shame. I hope Dead Island 2 gets plenty of awards this year, because it deserves them. In my opinion this game is a solid GOTY material. I'm speaking as a person who generally doesn't enjoy zombie games.
Not really... Just because most of the important assets including the physics tech they're using... They didn't make. Techland did before they split from Deep silver to make Dying Light 1.
Can't wait to compare Dead Rising 1 remake in 5 years to Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 3

Ambos son grandiosos juegos y se adaptan mucho a sus limitaciones, Dead Island 2 puede verse tan bien y usar esas fisicas por que como tal no es mundo abierto como tal y pueden permitirse tener mas fisicas, ademas de usar trucos visuales, pero aun asi son juegazos
igual hay q tomar en cuenta que dead island tiene el doble de años de desarrollo, si bien es cierto que fue un desarrollo ''turbulento'' si nunca lo dieron por cancelado fue por que aun seguia el proyecto activo, lo que no me gusto es su sistema de combate me parece repetitivo, todas las armas las siento igual sin peso o impacto como si golpeara el aire, se ve hermoso graficamente y el sistema de desmembramiento esta genial aunque ese sistema fue diseñado por techland para dead island 1 pero por limitantes de hardware nunca fue implementado, y para que hablar de la historia es bastante meh aun asi divierte pero para mi al menos no es rejugable... en cuanto a DL2 pues lo mejor sin duda es el sistema de combate y la libertad del parkur, faltan variantes de zombies, armas de fuego, un balance de equipo y un ajuste de IA de enemigos (aunq la de DI2 me parece peor) por otro lado se nota que es un juego a medio terminar por el solo hecho de que la ultima mision del modo historia es el primer gameplay q mostraron en el E3, osea quien aria eso? a menos que solo fuera el inicio de algo mas grande que tenian pensado, espero algun dia lo terminen con ultimos updates lo han mejorado bastante pero aun esta debiendo lo que prometia

Yeah man like fr. I see these comments of people talking about DL2 like it's a masterpiece but in lots of ways it's a freaking downgrade compared to DL1..
I am just frustrated from how people can't see it..they really think that DL2 is awesome to the max while the first part is much better. And the sad thing is that not many people hate it - Techland won't understand that they need to take a closer look at how they downgraded...
One thing that annoys me is when you hit something non relevant your weapon gets damaged, but in DI 2 that doesn't happen and it should not be in dying light to.

@@arabman5848 I didn’t like it. I played it when it launched. Got about two or so hours in and it just wasn’t clicking for me. To say it’s “almost perfect” is a stretch. I didn’t like the story I didn’t like gameplay I didn’t like anything it presented to me within those first few hours.

My main complaint with DL2 is that the second map is not only too big but it's also too cooy and pasted. Yeah I enjoy exploring it even after 120hrs but still it dose get a bit boring at times.
Played both games but gotta say...after the latest update from dying light 2 the good night and good luck update it really got better and I now enjoy it more than dead island 2 but both games are good I enjoy both for what they are this offers different experience and same for the other

People blindly look at stupid details they'll never see like hitting water with a machete and get excited. DL gameplay is absolutely light years away from DI. Why for someone a game with more graphical details is better xD Why nobody mentions the main advantage of DL "parkour" In DI, we run around the streets of Los Angeles and kill a few zombies that come along the way. In Dying Light, we meet dozens of zombies in one place, we run around skyscrapers, we swing on a rope like spiderman. We parachute, and much more because the world has a lot of activity unlike DI. Also prefers the DL combat system where we feel the impact more. For example, when we hit someone with a pipe, it bounces off the head not through the body like in DI

DI2 is good from start though... I almost bought DL2 but after seeing the reviews it was a hard pass for me. I think DI2 just needs some fixes especially water graphics and zombie spawning...

I enjoyed both games!
Dying Light has a much more driven story whereas Dead island kind of goes all over the place. But combat for both is fun and gruesome. But what I like about dead island is that in a game about zombies they focus more on the zombies but lacked in story hopefully we’ll get an expansion to tie in the rest of the story? Maybe some buffs on supplies new weapons maybe another survivor? Techland I can respect the fact that they are still working on and polishing DL2 hopefully we’ll get a sequel? Or a 3rd person version like RE: Village

I have both games and it's been easier to get bored of the game faster cause realistically there isn't much to the game other than the gore mechanic and the lighting, I do love the personality's that the game has but it does feel a bit to goofy to take seriously sometimes but it's not a bad thing for some which is alright. I just feel like the world combat in dying light has more depth and realism to its world in a lot of areas where dead island is missing. But dead island regardless has still been a great limited area sandbox which is fun to pass the time 🔥🔥
Dying light 2 just isn't a zombie game, it tries way too hard to be like the last of us but never succeeds since the catchers are terrible and the plot itself is broken and clearly changed at the last minute. Dying light 1's story didn't offer anything:It wasn't about zombies, but the humans were also way too often forgotten and badly written, to the point that I didn't even remember half of the caratchers mid game. The gameplay also wasn't satisfying: while the gore was really good, the combat was boring and way too easy at times and way too hard other times, and the resource management was very unfair and badly balanced, unlike alien isolation that had the perfect amount of types of items and resources and they were placed extremely carefully around the map, to the point that it never felt too unfair, hard or easy and that it was always worth it to use your very few resources, unlike dl were pretty much every trowable was never worth to use since they were all the same, useless and basically too hard to use to be even worth crafting at end game
Idk. I like DL2’s gore more. It feels more rewarding. Don’t get me wring DI2 has mire gore. But i like when i smash a zombie in DL2 because depending on the weapon is what the gore will look like. Broken bones sticking out and smashed heads go to blunt weapons and cleaner cuts where the body is cut in half goes to shaper weapons. Where in DI2 it feels like no matter what you hot them with it will blow them up like they got hit with a tank round.

I wanted to specific that DL2 is 25 years later from the plague, so many things did had checked for many years.
DL2 is also a parkuor game, so there are many places wich you can get to, so it’s logical that many thing who are there haven’t animation or someway to interact to ‘ehm, ‘cause of we don’t have NASA’s pc, so it will ruin fps game.
The water isn’t animated at all, but there are that many things to do instead of staying in water, so will be your last thing you will do.
Fighting system is that same, cause an half of attacks is based on weapons, and the other one over parkuor combos… so making that effective weapons or physics’ combo will reduce “parkuor impact” over the player who is playing a horror parkuor game… so is not the chase to do that…
As last thing, Dead Island 2 is beautiful over its own ways, and DL2 too.
I think that making a comparison over 2 game who has the same context but works on different ways is the most useless thing… like forks and spoons… they are about the same context but works on different ways…

Different devs different game engine and different mechanics for each game! I think people expect dead island and dying light to be cannon to each other and be the same game just different environments but dead island is a goofy hack n slash with a wacky story while dying light is supposed to be a survival horror and make you feel like your always running away and out numbered!
I wish Dead Island was an open world with better story and quest like DL2. Or if DL2 had the same fidelity and graphics of Dead Island

Dead island 2 is absolutely a better game than dying light 2. Maybe DL2 is more open world with more to do as of right now, but Dead Island 2 is just so much more fun to play with the utterly satisfying gore and combat system. I also like DI2's more focused approach to the world since it's easy to get around/explore the smaller zones and travel between the different locations instead of having an overwhelmingly big sandbox map. Oh yeah, and DI2 is the clear winner in terms of graphics, performance, and attention to detail as well. DI2 might be a smaller game, but it does everything better than DL2. Quality > quantity

@@LowResLeafa Says the guy who made multiple comments defending DL2 even when people are speaking facts. DI2 is just a much better game. The graphics exceed DL2 as does the combat, the gore is one of a kind and the optimization is great.
DL2 was a buggy mess when it came out and it still is, I haven’t had ONE issue with DI2.
This is coming from someone with around 3000 hours in DL and 500 on DL2. I’ve only played about 20 on DI2 and I would take that of dying light any day.

There's only so much you can do in DI2. And it's just killing with some options and that's it. Yeah, same can be said for DL2 but alteast DL2 expands upon it with 'combos', or as I like to call 'em badass finishers (TM).
You can be grappling a zombie to you and stomping on their heads, jumping up from a zombie and then grapping a gascan, activating and throwing it into the crowd and finishing off with a bow and arrow kill. I do not care about the gore of DI2 because I know I will get tired, I like my blood fountain inducing badass katana anyways, better animations and more crispy, satisfying sound effects and visual effects.
Cry about it, just admit it. 70 bucks for a game that is linear and not even open world, not trying anything new and just sticking to the old formula that is "kill le zombie" without any other fun gimmicks like DL2.
@@lemon-tq4rt only thing that makes Dead Island 2 better is gore... combat in hit impackt is for me more satisfying in dying light 2 now with the recent update... i overall just like open world games more... both games are good on their own but i was bored of dead island 2 after 20 hours and i didnt even finish the campaign...

Dead island 2 seem to bring the fun I had from dying light 1. Dying light 2 was good game but too many bugs and glitches compared to dead island 2. Combat way more satisfying in dead island 2. Watching a melting zombie coming at you from toxic elemental dmg just awesome. Dead island 2 needs some sort of parkour system, more variety of things to do and huge increase to stash and inventory space.
From my eyes dead island 2 combat nowhere close to dying light 2 it's pretty delusional imo to thank dead island 2 has better combat I've watched a lot of videos when it ces to exclusively combat dying light 2 is better like jumping 50 feet in the air and thor smashing zombies is always fun drop kicking is better ramming the grapple hook and that's about it
Like dead island has better effects and more satisfying sounds graphically speakimg it's better but fighting mechanics not as good as dying light 2 dying light 2 is more combat focused and when dying light 2 first came out alot of people says it was better than dying light 1 post lunch farther it's not they are saying the same about dead island 2 but think about which game would obviously survive longer after post launch? @@7kingly241 I am now an official owner of dead island 2 and me personally my opinion stands correct combat is nowhere near as fun in dead island 2 as I. Dying light 2 dying light 2 is still much better I honestly got kinda bored after 7 hours of playing the game when I hopped on dying light 2 afterwards I had much more fun especially the new outstanding update dying light 2 feels so alive now it's either better than dying light 1 or tide with dying light 1 now

You should revisit DL2 if you haven’t. They’ve added so much and changed a ton, added a lot of qol features and just overall changes to the game to make it a lot more like dl1

У Dying Light 2 основная фишка - паркур по зданиям и полеты, чтобы быстро перемещаться. Поэтому всякие стулья там не ломаются, чтобы не путаться под ногами во время движения. В Dead Island 2 такого нет. Поэтому там сделан упор на разрушаемость, чуть красивее картинку и по мелочи, чего нет в DL 2. Вот и все. Но в моем случае мне DL 2 больше нравится, чем Dead Island 2.

I know I’m late but I’m having way more fun in the 2 hours I’ve played or island 2 than I did in 400 hours of light 2. Light 2 tried todo too much and just felt incomplete…. Still love both 🎉

Dead Island focuses a lot less on story likely for focus on things.. like physics.. when in reality your not gonna go and shoot a bow into water… and yes the gore maybe better in dead island, but that’s also very over the top, DL2 isn’t realistic in terms of what would actually happen if you slice at someone with a knife.. but let’s just say it’s alot harder for that to go through bone plus other tissue etc etc.

After spending 40H on Dying Light 2, Dead Island 2 kills it for me.
Dead Island 2 is SO MUCH better! The Gore is top of the notch, the gameplay is fun and the settings are great. i loved every single Minute.

The main problem (personally) is that end-game it just becomes mindless, it's too easy and without the graphics and gore it'd just be boring.

i think dead island is obviously a better game in graphical experience, but dying light is making updates so the game looks better! like a new gore sistem and animations to the story, even aditional parts! both games are awsome though

I'd saying DL2 should have some of those same moments from DL1, especially at night chases with the Volatiles

I owned both games and these are both awesome games, so why some players are barking at each other about which is better if you can buy and play both games. They have both different pros and cons, for ex on my end, since I'm still playing on PS4 Dying Light 2's performance are good but not superb and graphics are terrible however, on Dead Iland 2 the performance and graphics are superb and exceeded my expectations compared to Dying Light 2 but to be honest overall I still loves Dying Light 2 becasue I loved the decimated world and much simple combat system compared to Dead Island 2. And lastly your video comparison is great and it is fair for both games. Good work mate 👍

I've played all 4 of the titles so far, and will say that I enjoyed Dead Island 1 Co-Op with 4 man parties, same with Dying light 1. Dying light 2 kinda of fell off for me not as intense as Dying light 1. Dead Island 2? a LITTLE different then i expected but the experience with the Gore System and story. I sure enjoyed it more then DL2. Is Di2 Worth the 80$ price point?
No it's a 60$ game for me, the story is (main) really short. compared to the First one.
That being said. Both great titles series that go for a different crowd.

Even at this point, after so many updates Techland released for DL2, Dead Island 2 still beats Dying Light 2 to a pulp in terms of attention to detail.

A game on launch Vs a game a year after it’s release. While I get why these games are being compared it really just doesn’t feel fair. It almost seems like DL2 devs felt like they needed to step because they knew they had a zombie game competitor.

I’m sorry but DI2 took home the winning prize, that’s like people comparing tlou2 and rdr2. Rdr2 came out in 2018 and had it all from the start. You can’t just fix your games because you see that one is better, you’re supposed to already include this before your competitor arrives.
@@MachiTea techland is used to working on their games for years after they release. They did it for dying light 1 and they'll do it for dying light 2. Dead island 2 coming out changed nothing for them.

The thing about the Dying Light games is the lighting makes everything look dull and washed out in browns, oranges, and grays. Dead Island 1 and 2 pop much more and have more interesting settings in my opinion.
Dead Island 2 was way more colorfull and that was pretty good

Firstly dying light 2 Came out earlier than the dead island.Secondly, these games have different studio developers techland I did not develop a dead island, but only appointed a new developer, so there is no point in comparing two games that absolutely do not have developed games.

BOth amazing games tbf I have had more fun on dead island plus the characters animation on dead island is miles ahead of dying light.
Dying light 2 went for a more survivor feel and it works well for the game it feels realistic hopping down fighting a horde around some supplies and running off once you get them before more come back in that sense it feels realistic and cool dead Island is more of a zombie game where you’re a bad ass and it’s fun the gore system really Carries the combat tho both have interesting and unique combat so it’s hard to pick which one is better but one critique of dead island is that you feel a bit more limited in what you can do as well as once you play enough you can see that the gore system is not as dynamic as they make it out to be but still amazing both are awesome so it’s really hard to pick I just decide to play one or the other based off my mood

Looking at dying light 2s gore in this video, it looks good but it definitely doesn't top dead island or dying light.
Dawg DL2's Gore is better than DL1 and DI2.
DL2 it is always worse than DL1 currently still.
DI2 is very small and you can do much less with weapons than DI1 has no developers no 2 craft Homerun or Shredder Mod.
DI2 only has 8 Unique Legendaries and DI1 has 27.
Have platinum after 30 hours. If it wasn't for level gate, Mainstory would have finished in less than 10 hours.
To me, Dead Island 2 isn't worth $30.
@@johnfive8211 I oppose that. But respect your opinion. I really do like dead island 2. It is very similar to the old games and I loved those games too, which probably contributes to me liking dead island 2 so much.
But, I can see why to some people it might not be worth the price. For example, it might seem quite lackluster in terms of weapons, something I have noticed and it does have a few glitches that ruin immersion which I have noticed as well.
But I feel the infected in this game is brilliant (obviously not on par with the first Dying Light game as it is superior in almost all aspects except gore) I put hours upon hours into DL1.
I like how the gore feels so natural and random. It is so realistic.
Visuals are beautiful. Movement is quite restricted though (but I guess that keeps the charm of the old games).
Story was meh. But I am a gamer who doesn't really care about story unless the game is 100% story driven.
I'm just glad dead island 2 was released in the state it's in now. It went through developmental hell and could've been way worse. I love it for what it is.
But that's my opinion.

I really love dying light 2 and 1 over dead island the parkour system the volatiles chase which is scarier i latest dl2 update the map yes the map of dl2 is really cool it gives you vibes of post apocalypse that small amount of games introduced it in cool way like tlou2 and the combat in di2 is5 too slow and repeative

Beat dead island 2 just now so sad there’s not more content abrupt ending and story love the gore and fighting way more than DL2 but that’s all I can really say for it…
