    Nobody sets out to make a bad movie, but it does happen from time to time. Still, these awful flicks are still made by professionals, meaning every now and then, they’ll be able to craft a standout scene or two. Some of them are so great in terms of character and story development that we wonder how the rest of the film went wrong. Here are Screen Rant’s 10 Amazing Scenes That Almost Saved These Movies.

      +SpinKing69 The hobbit was bad, but I agree with you, it's far from terrible. Also, cause I read the book, I must say my expectations were up high and my judgement might not be the best, but definitely not terrible.

      +R2green3 they're entertaining at least, but the problem is their main draw comes from their gimmicks: lightsaber fights and visual effects. in terms of quality they're dog shit compared to the original trilogy. screen writing is absolutely horrendous, badly developed characters, and bad pacing.
      not trying to be cool by hating on the prequels. just saying there's a reason why the originals have loads more oscar nominations. well at least i just saw VII and fortunately it looks as though the series is going back in the direction of good writing and acting.

    • @gustavluhr8464
      @gustavluhr8464 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Mario Spice Already resorting to personal insults are we? Mature.
      It was a while ago since I watched them, but I can still recall a brief overview of them. It is poorly written and poorly acted/poor line execution. The shots are also bad, the scenes where they talk a lot specifically (hello walk up to couch sit down stand up and walk up to window).
      The first one is is especially bad with it's lack of plot main character and even likable characters in general. Pair that with one of the most universally hated characters ever and the fact that it doesn't in any way at all contribute to any of the star wars saga since everything introduced in it either dies or is never reffered to again. Now this is partly subjective, but you get the idea.
      The second one is just as bad just less memorable, and the third one is just average, but shiens by comparison.

    • @gnurtfnurt2544

      Crawster its like 3 hours long.

    • @Realcfx
      @Realcfx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      PastaThe EpicGamer // PastaTurkey There's so little going on in 3 hours. I only like it because of my nostalgia towards LOTR (all the small references, like Sting(his sword)). And compared to LOTR, which had storytelling throughout its even longer span(3hours+), the Hobbit simply falls short with scenes like the barrel ride and countless of other scenes. It needs more meat to keep people interested instead of relying on silly CGI effects and the CGI was mediocre, nothing impressive, but not the worst I'd ever seen. I think screenrant should do a "top ten blockbuster with worst CGI, as in $200m+ movies with bad CGI".

    • @WithTheLads
      @WithTheLads 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Realcfx I taught the CGI was on point, didn't see really any flaws to be honest. Yeah I agree the barrel scene is a complete mess, I skip it every time I watch the movie. But other than that I taught the movie on it's own and not being compared to any other movies was good. Oh and the barrel scene wasn't even in this movie so how could that scene effect this movie?

      +Thomas Kite I think it's ok to like movies because you like them, even if they are bad. I can recognize the flaws but just let them slip, sometimes because I grew up with a movie or because there are scenes and mythology I like. I personally do think the prequels are bad, but I can see why people would like them, and that's ok.

    • @merrymachiavelli2041
      @merrymachiavelli2041 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I kinda agree. The _places_ in particular were amazing. The lava-world, Coruscant and the Senate, Naboo and tons of other locations. Not only were the places varied, but they were also interesting - an entire planet covered in buildings 100s of stories tall or a water-world where clones are created on vast futuristic platforms, as opposed to just a desert planet or a forest planet or an icy planet...etc.
      The prequel triology gets some stick for too much CGI but the world-building alone made it memorable to me.

They already changed the books enough, why not add Bilbo's gay lover as Martin Freeman, something to show that Bilbo isn't as opposed to adventure as most hobbits. XD

      The films for hobbit and lotr follow the same mould. 1= intro, lots of story, adventure and battle at end. 2= lots of adventure and dialogue, big battle at end. 3= many battles through out, lots of story. I love those films because off that mould and it makes the story more simple. The hobbit and star wars and the matrix one, are not terrible and are good, but flawed. I wonder if this video will get more dislikes than likes.

    I believe that Hayden portrayed Anakin in a way that would honestly show how Vader was in the past. How everything that happened to him made him into the Sith Lord we have come to know. I agree. The character anakin is supposed to be an emotional mess from the beginning. He was a slave for 9 years! Yeah he's whinny, but that's because he was taken from his mother, had terrible nightmares, found out that his mother was being tortured, and watched her die. He shouldn't be happy and energetic an exciting. I never thought he did a bad job. Maybe someone who showed a little more emotion would of been better.

      Well, I guess you could argue that, but you'd be wrong. See, there are some amazing movies, and most of the movies on this list aren't among them (I'd personally put all three Hobbit movies among them, but whatever). However, there are so incredibly many truly terrible movies that most of the movies in this list are well above average. MadShyPie has it right. If you think these movies are bad then you can't've seen many movies.

    • @PwnEveryBody
      @PwnEveryBody 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may have been a bit blunt in my statements, but I mostly stand by it. The point I've been trying to make is that movies can be rated more or less objectively according to technical excellence, critical reception, and/or popular reception. A movie that does well in all three cannot be called bad, precisely because it performed well at the box office (great popular reception), received good ratings (great critical reception), and was a technical masterpiece. The Hobbit is one example. Avatar is another.
      I'm not mad. If anything I was annoyed at how amazingly stupid you seemed to be in your previous comment. I'm going to assume by your last comment that this is not the case. I've grown to expect amazing stupidity from TH-cam comments.

      Because it's a trilogy. It could have (and has) told the book in one movie, but they had to add in stuff like the stupid Legolas-girl elf-Kili triangle. One thing that was cool was Gandalf's trip to Dol Goldur, but they didn't need that as it is part of another Tolkien book, not The Hobbit. All in all it dragged, with few interesting moments.

    I've got to say, THE HOBBIT MOVIES WERE GOOD. Just because there was three movies for one book does not mean the franchise was bad. The movies actual had detail. I will tell you right now, anyone going to a movie based on a book they've read will want detail. If there is any fantasy movie based on a book that you need to just kill (even more then it was) then pick on the Eragon movie! Seriously.

    • @kirstywaters6854
      @kirstywaters6854 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Making the hobbit into three films was absolutely criminal and don't fool yourself into thinking it was due to fans wanting detail, it was due to the studio wanting to extract as much money as physically possible out of it and it really was as is that simple... And it's left us with a horribly dragged out and boring version of a fantastic story with virtually no excitement. It was also unforgivably cheesy and without such a strong cast would have a hell of a lot more to answer to. The cast saved that film. How can anyone who has read the books justify one very small book getting as much screen time as three larger books? Solely a money making decision.

    • @alicaido6616
      @alicaido6616 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not say that they weren't trying to squeeze money out of it (because they obviously were) I'm saying that just because there was three movies does not mean it was bad. I like the movies and I understand that some people don't because of various reasons. But I've got to say that they really weren't that bad.

    I personally love every Star Wars film. The prequels were needed and necessary and Revenge of the Sith was a beast of a film with the most gut wrenching, beautifully choreographed lightsaber duel in the whole saga. The prequel hate is becoming incredibly tiresome and I'm sick of being made to feel like a bad Star Wars fan for loving both the originals and prequels. That just doesn't make sense. The prequels were there from the point that A New Hope was announced as episode 4, like them or not they are a huge part of Star Wars and what Star Wars is.

      Michael Townley I believe they were necessary as they were part of the full story Lucas intended, he couldn't have exactly decided against them once he'd started from episode 4, and while it's always enjoyable to imagine I feel they give the Originals a nice platform to stand on. I understand people's dislike for them and they follow a very different mood to the originals and do contain many flaws, however with Star Wars being ingrained in me from a young age I can't help but love them as part of the story. As a huge Star Wars fan I'm happy they're there as it's always interesting to discover the backstory a writer intended for their character. My main issue is it's bothersome to be insulted for liking the whole of something rather than just the bit that's deemed as "the good" by most, especially as they do make up just under half of the saga and that's how the saga was intended whether wanted or not. Thank you for respecting my opinion also :)

      Ace the Armadillo Poorly thought out and rushed scripts, bland plots without tension, shallow settings and themes, very little continuity between films, no character depth whatsoever, uninspired cinematography, dull and emotionless dialogue, overuse of CGI. They are horrible movies from a critical standpoint, but they are at least entertaining in the turn-your-brain-off-and-watch-the-flashy-lights sort of way. People hate them so much because the original trilogy had none of these problems.

      Hector Garza Why? As many film industry people have pointed out. Marvel doesn't need them, they are doing fine without them. They created a giant franchise without them. They only have this agreement with Sony using Spider-Man because Sony gave up. And as of X-Men First Class and Days of Future Past, Fox knows what at least to do with X-Men with Bryan Singer around.

    • @Nopicrandom

    • @ASliceOfGamingPodcast
      @ASliceOfGamingPodcast 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hector Garza But then Marvel would probably never use them. It's too late. Now if your'e saying wishing they never sold them off thats another story. But if Marvel were to regain full control of Spidey, X-Men, FF, Namor and all those other guys that are currently at other studios tomorrow. They wouldn't use them. We might get some brief appearances by a new Wolverine and Mr Fantastic or something. But they have their blueprint for their movies and they don't want to change that plan I'm sure.
      The only reason we are getting another new Spider-Man movie in 2017 is because Spidey is one of the biggest names in comics. If he was any less popular he would be in Civil War and nothing else but cameos.
      The ONE good thing about other companies making Marvel movies is that we get to see them get made. Remember last year when we were all excited that we had Amazing Spider-Man 2, Days of Future Past AND Winter Solider in the same year? (forgetting that not many people like Amazing Spider Man 2) we would not get schedules like that if everything was owned by Marvel, they would still stick to their 2 movies a year quota.

      1. They do.
      2. The cake was to prove that the world they are in is a ruse and can be changed at a whim by those who understand how it all works. A cake can taste like a cake, but change some of the coding and you have a woman who has an orgasm instead.
      3. So they can let it out at the appropriate moment in the movie.
      4. The architect is saying that the human condition is too difficult to formulate into a single balanced equation, that there is a variable that the machines cannot account for. Therefore, the introduction of "The One" is to balance the equation for this indeterminate variable. He is basically saying that Agent Smith is the Devil (the evil side of the equation) and that "The One" is Jesus or God (the good side of the equation). If both do not exist then there can be no balance.
      5. I'll refrain from answering a question designed to try and illicit an angry response.
      Also, answering these from my memories of the movie since the last time I watched them... like 3-4 years ago.

    • @averagejoe6617
      @averagejoe6617 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      But the two movies basically are filler. In the second one they have side quest after side quest, and in the third one the limbo scene is entirely pointless and just there to drag out the movies. And there's no reason for everyone to have a philosophical speech very ten minutes. Again, filler. And Tom and trinity's chemistry consists of them making out a lot. This brings up something I forgot to mention, everyone is blander than bread.

    For me, the best scene in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is the introduction of Gambit. I love that character (he, Banshee and Nightcrawler are my favorite X-Men), and the scene did not disappoint. I did wish it would show more of the snarky animosity between the two we see in the comics, but that is likely a relationship that would have to be built up over time. Sadly, the franchise doesn't seem to be interested in giving us that opportunity.

    Most of these(save for F4 and SM3) weren't as bad as people say they are, it just wasn't a commercial success. The funniest part was where it was "too epic" or words similar in meaning. A story, and by extension a movie, is an inner creativity brought forth by the author and illustrator. Unless there are actual deaths or really crossing moral lines(ex: Spliced, don't watch it.), nothing is too much.

      Louis Brennan well considering that good and bad is totally subjective it's completely fine that we disagree. I'm not "wrong", it's how I feel about the fight. I seen the movie on opening night (stood in line for 3 days) and thought it was a major let down. So did many other people. The majority of people see the fight as a let down. It's alright if you like it though, as I said subjective. Was Darth Maul a cool looking character with a cool looking weapon and a shit ton of potential? Fuck yeah! Damn that fight was a major let down though.

      Get real... The hobbit was about making money over story telling and character development... Otherwise it would be one... Not three movies. It was completely unnecessary to have sooooooooo many scenes and I found it earth shatteringly boring.

      +Xalted118 Having 3 villains with 3 entirely different arcs that need to be fleshed out in less than 139 minutes is a recipe for disaster and Spider-man 3 proved that pretty well.

    That Sandman scene was hauntingly beautiful and you could tell Sam had a great love for the character. It was, of course, completely countered by the musical number, but that goes without saying.

      Cytrem 3 wasn't great.
      It was an "ok" watch.
      I've watched it twice and will never watch it again. They put too much shit in one film. (Which was Sony's fault)

    • @concord327

      The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones came before the Clone Wars. they sucked before the cartoon was created. and even if the Clone Wars was the greatest cartoon ever it couldn't save the movies. Does the Batman Animated Series redeem Batman and Robin? No it does not.

    • @kruger7796
      @kruger7796 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clone troops and the idea iself is cool. Aswell as the cartoon you mentioned. I grew up watching the prequels and I did like some of the scenes as a child. However, none of this change the fact that they are fucking horrible. The script, the cgi... everything in prequels are the reason we had to wait until now to get more Star Wars movies.

    An Unexpected Journey was not a terrible movie. IT is just that the whole trilogy should have been two well balanced movies rather than three with the first being slow paced, second being perfect and third being to fast and action packed. But as a whole trilogy I thought it to be brilliant in linking itself with the Lord of The Rings trilogy.

    Attack of the clones wasn't terrible, Xmen 3 and Origins Wolverine were entertaining for a one time watch, fantastic 4 and Spiderman 3 could have been much worse, and frankly I kind of liked Doom and I definitely liked Hobbit: Unexpected Journey. I can't speak for the other movies in this list.

    you got superman returns wrong, its technically a reboot, but it isn't, its a true sequel to superman II. I actually liked some of these movies on this list (like Hobbit, Superman and XMEN 3) but its an opinion.
