i think we lost two days later on easter monday at home to newcastle 1-0 we stayed top but had no games left, Liverpool and Leeds played their final matches mid week and could have topped derby but they both blew it !!!!
Well one of the main reasons Leeds blew it was because they had to play their last match away to Wolves just TWO days after playing Arsenal at wembley in the FA cup final, Leeds were fucked, it wouldnt be allowed happen now, not taking away from Darby who were a great team
I loved watching Derby County and can I whisper it Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough and Peter Taylor ,they took ordinary professionals and turned them into great players ,made some astute lower or lower league players and then added the stars ,a fantastic combination ,I watched Brian Clough play for SAFC ,saw him build a wonderful youth team with the likes of Colin Todd coming through and although John O’Hare was a good player for SAFC under their management he became a class act ,fancy that Clough wanted the Managers job there but they turned him down ,wanted some one with pedigree Bigest mistake we ever made!
