Paper Mario: Black Pit is a mod for Paper Mario 64. It contains a lot of new challenges and modes, with a bunch of new and overhauled mechanics, one of which are stylish commands like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
The Let's Try series is a way to preview / review games in order to get my first impressions through the first moments of gameplay.

The sick thing about the ttyd mechanics (not 64) is you can theoretically counter any hit to never take damage, just depends on how much guts you have

Happy birthday! Been waiting for this! Sooooo glad you did this. Paper mario was the one game I always rented from blockbuster back in the day. 😊 also for the daisy, the tell to block is just after it opens its eyes! I never knew this until I started watching a speed runner play this mod.

@@nethowarrior3294 I mainly worked on CNA, I was an enemy programmer on that project, most of that stuff isn't public yet though but on my TH-cam channel you can see some enemies I programmed for my own cancelled mod

I would love a series like this, but I would suggest going into the Classic Pit first to Tattle all the enemy types first with Goombario so that you won't have to double-guess how much HP an enemy has in Rougelike mode. And it will also prepare you for any new threats

Its a shame you had to drop that run part way in. Watt + HP Drain was an OP combo, and I think that fake toad's middle items was Flower Saver for even more future hilarity.

A play-through of Paper Mario's Roguelike mode would be quite fun to watch! It had a QoL update 3 weeks ago so it would be a good time to do it too.
I was also under the impression the boots you got on this run gave you the ability to bounce on their heads indefinitely for as long as you got the timing correct, meaning you could heal back up all in one go?
Would love to see you really get into this, very interesting mix of game and genre

Enjoyed the vid, I'll have to look into this romhack, love Paper Mario, so Thanks for the Vid. Just a bit flabbergasted that he didn't notice that letting Watt attack first gave him an extra point of healing. So, instead of +2 from the jump, he'd get +3. It'd barely, if at all, affect his battles to just switch to Watt for the first attack, but net more healing over all. Unless I was just seeing things when he got 3 from a turn where he did just that.
