- "Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door Hero Mode" is a mod created for TTYD that features new characters, artwork, story components, battle mechanics, overworld puzzles, and more to the base game in order to freshen it up, create a more challenging experience, and make an expansion on what everybody loved about the second Paper Mario. In this video I decided to check out the demo for the mod which goes through the prologue and first chapter of the game!

This is awesome! I really loved Paper Mario Master Quest for PM64. Looks like there's finally a way to do the same for TTYD it seems beyond just doubling enemy attack power and HP. Really looking forward to checking this out too.

You can do the Pit of 100 Trials in this Mod. That's already fully developed. Please make a video on the Hero Mode Pit of 100 Trials.
Think he's playing on version 3, version 3.3 is the one with the pit of 100 trials
@@jonathantonner4263 According to the sign next to the pit pile, it still uses the version of the Pit from V.2 so unless the removed the pit in between versions, it should be in there.
EDIT: NOPE! The Changelog lists the Pit as a new addition in 3.3 so it really seems like it wasn't there before.
No the pit is pulled from 2.0 its not a new one so it'll be difficult to do as 2.0 is different from v3

The funniest thing is that you said "weft and wight" despite those being normal
This mod letting you use airplane mode from anywhere makes me question why the actual devs didn’t design the game around letting you do that in the base game
This makes it even more unfortunate that in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: Refold didn't flesh out the folding mechanic just by getting rid of the folding panel, and just using it freely.

Okay, yeah. THAT makes the High HP work in your favor! You can be in Peril from 5HP and have all the bonuses from the Danger Builds and have a safety net even with a Life Shroom keeping you in Danger status.
If you had 100 HP, you could revive with a life shroom and be in peril

So this is probably a story where time was reverted but only certain characters remember from what I can see so far. Looks awesome!
Exactly, i'm thinking this is kind of a canonical "second playthrough" for Mario and Co. but they don't remember it. Either Grodus or Shadow Queen somehow managed to cast time magic shenanigans as a last ditch attack ?
That's an interesting concept. Like the villains all reversed time, but none of the heroes remember it. It would explain why gloomtail went in hooktail's place to save her
Maybe the Shadow Queen somehow covered the world in darkness. That would explain why everything is so much darker and gloomier

Paper Mario Master Quest had a similar joke to Koopie Koo. When you fight Lakilester you have to fight him and his girlfriend, Lakilulu; and she's also way stronger than Lakilester.
That remixed dream team battle music is amazing, I had a 2DS XL when I was younger and I loved dream team

I am genuinely curious and I want to wait till this is fully finished. This seems more interesting than the official TTYD Remake. I'm not a massive fan of TTYD, but this mod really gets me curious.

I wanna see a mod of Super Paper Mario so bad, that game had such excellent fundamentals that were only brought down a bit by a few little things in need of streamlining. Obviously that's unlikely though since that game's audience is much smaller and I think it's a lot harder to do that with Wii games.

Ooh, sick, this does some stuff like I am doing with a challenge hack I am early in working on, of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, like having to react faster to enemies attacking at a more aggressive, fast pace. Also, switching Hooktail with Gloomtail? Fun twist to stumble into. Neat stuff! Aaaand I'm really looking forward to the Switch Remake of The Thousand-Year Door next month!

A TTYD MOD!?! Excited I am.
This video was entertaining from start to finish! This mod is such a necessary thing to exist, because the "turn based RPG with real time events" genre is VERY under-explored. The only good difficulty and finished game I can think of in that genre is Bug Fables, which I haven't played yet.
I wonder if the hero jacket is a reference to the Thick Shirt from SMRPG. Take a look at the original art for it on the wiki. Blue highlights, red base color, gold buttons. But, I could be wrong. Regardless of what it is, it feels familiar somehow.

I appreciate the hard work and story updates and reworks, this is a fantastic demo, and the combat rework is very interesting.
Honestly though, I think the battles probably seem more frustrating than fun a little of the time. Yeah it’s harder, but dumping chapter 1 boss as having 120 health or whatever just feels kinda grindy, and they just pulled the ol’ “higher numbers more harder” thing. I guess it seemed manageable, but man, being forced to spam items or die on a lot of those intermediate fights is kinda lame.
There are very few fights you “have to spam items”, it’s more so managing your resources.
These high hp enemies put Persona bosses to shame with such sponginess lol
Wow, you’re so bad if you actually just spam items and complain about struggling. Use your badges and pace yourself. Hell, plenty of these items strategically add to the fights, don’t just spam them randomly. Use the roulette, and learn to time it. Use status effects. Use defence for once. It’s actually testing your skills. Don’t blame the game for being impatient in the follow up battles.
Iron bonk reminds of Kabu in bug fables, would be kinda neat to see you play that game
