This song set Band-Maid free with regards to writing their own songs. After this album they never looked back ....and in September they are now their own independent company "Maidit Co., LTD." They call all the shots now and we are so proud of them.
One of Kanami's longest solo's here too. This song to is also PRE- Zemaitis, PRE-PRS, PRE-Tama, PRE- BlackCloud sponsorship.
They collaborated with The Warning and with Mike Einziger of Incubus. The two songs are on their YT channel "Show Them" and "Bestie"
Simply put....Kanami is a genius

It has such an early 2000's pop punk sound. IMO that is where Band-Maid truly shines. Other similar Band-Maid songs are Dice , Different, Choose Me, Sense , and Blooming.
Nine years later and its still a great song and has hints of what's to come. Most of their songs are unexpected and not cut/paste and your favorite Band-Maid song will be the last one you listened to. That's what we love about Band-Maid, all their songs are different, all are wonderful and all keep you listening.
I think you'll love "Shake That!! and "Choose Me." Both are fantastic pop punk songs, Band-Maid style. I'd love to see you react to both of them!! Saiki is velvety chocolate to Miku's pop fizz. Together, they produce irresistable vocal flavours!! 🤘🤘💕💕
"Alone" was the first song that Band-Maid's management company allowed them to write, produce, record, and make a musical video with. After "Alone", the band changed management companies and have composed their music ever since. Just recently, the band created their own management company to have total control over their product. The company's new name is MaidIt Co. LLC., a tongue-in-cheek reference to their success as a band wearing maid costumes. They have done two collaborative songs with Western artists, "Selfie" in collaboration with Mike Einziger of Incubus, and "Show Them" a collaborative song and video with The Warning has garner a great deal of praise from their fans.
The best way, I think, to describe Band-Maid music is that is "genre-less". The band incorporates many musical styles into their songs. Even using multiple genres in some songs. We Maidiacs (that's what Band-Maid fans call ourselves) simply call their music Band-Maid Music. To us, their music is instantly recognizable for it's composition, seamless transitions between choruses, and the incorporation of creative bass riffs from MISA, their bassist, into their music. Also, the vocal harmonization of the two vocals is incredible.

Yes, this is a great song and the first one they composed themselves and then at most all songs were written by Kanami, she is the genius composer, with the help of Misa, the bassist. And for most of their songs Miku (Rythm guitar, band founder) writes the lyrics.
Now you have listened to four rock songs, and always the album versions. But they are better live: I can't wait to see your reactions to Play, Onset, Corallium Moratorium or Real Existence live. But also their slower songs are fantastic (Daydreaming, Memorable, ...). And then there are their acoustic interpretations... You have a long fabulous journey ahead 😊
Plus BandMaiko! This was an beautiful and elaborate April Fools surprise from our Maids! Sung in a Kyoto dialect with 2 videos In traditional kimono BandMaiko presented several reinterpretation of their songs. Gion-Cho was an original BandMaiko song about tge life of a geisha in the Gion-Cho district of Kyoto. Very cool stuff!

@Sohum Miku being a professional poker player is one of the myths that gets repeated by fans from time to time. The confusion comes from the fact that she did once come in 2nd place at an open tournament that did allow professional players to compete. Still quite an impressive accomplishment, but yeah, she is very good, but most definitely not professional.
Also, Miku has loved to bet on horse racing for years and is even one of the owners of a racehorse in Japan named Dogma. Speaking of racing, the Japan Racing Pigeon Association should find a way to contact Miku to be their spokespigeon. Po.

When Misa starts playing her solo at the beginning of the bridge (before Kanami’s guitar solo kicks in), you can hear the high pitched feedback buzz (probably from Miku’s guitar) which they chose to leave in there; very interesting. So at that point, all instruments were playing, even though the highlight was the bass.
Thanks for pointing that out. I like the details that make it sound like a one-take effort, but it at this early point it was most likely Kanami doing all of the studio guitars.
That sustained feedback is intentional. It fades up into Kanami' solo.
This is one of my favourite songs. The harmony between Saiki and Miku makes me feel crazy.

他のリアクション動画の誰だったかな…？思い出せないが2番の歌詞なんだが彩姫の歌とアカネのドラムがシンクロしてるんだよね。聴いていて「あー本当だ😃」と思ったね。コレは勿論アカネ自身が考えたんだろうけど凄くしっくりくるし聴いていて不自然な感じがしないよね。
あと余談だけどこのpvでの彩姫の動きが妙にジュリーを思い出させるとずっと前から思ってましたがジュリーには悪いが彩姫のほうがカッコいいです。

Live Maid is the Best Maid.... as good as the MV;s are .. these ladies are born for the stage.. any band can fake it in the studio but bringing those same songs live is a whole new experience . fire up any Live performance.. No God, Puzzle, Hate:, Manners /Black Hole... take your pick and have your appreciation of what a Band can do elevated....
You should definitely react to some official live videos. "Hate?" is a recent one that seems to get the most recommendations. But for someone new to their music, "Domination," official live is a few years older and as good a place as any to start. Great reaction. New subscriber.

She came in second in a Celebrity Texas Hold 'Em Tournament. She also not only plays the Horses, but eats them as well. Some prefecture in Japan specializes in Horse like other specialize in Whale or Apples. Oh well, Kim Jung Un just sent cases and cases of canned dog meat to Russia. Not dog food. Dog Meat. So there's that... Weird eh? But yeah, she gambles, is the only one in the band that can drink MISA under the table and she eats dried salmon flakes like an old gezzer. Her band mates say she's really a middle aged man in a girls body, and a pigeon, of course.

Puzzle, did I hear the word "puzzle?" There's your next song--I highly recommend listening to the live electric rock version from early last year at Tokyo Garden Theater and then the live acoustic duet by Kanami and Saiki. Same song, but what an incredibly different treatment.

Once they were left "Alone" by their record / management companies to create what they wanted, well, look what they did. Alone's somewhat sad, heavy, yet empowering story (topics Miku's known for writing about), against Kanami's up-tempo, complex, yet rockin' music, is quintessential Band-Maid. BAND-MAID is an important influence and contributor to the music industry with a continuous, growing worldwide fanbase. But to me, they are just the best sounding, best writers of hard rock music, and the most fun, joyous group of musicians to come along since the Beatles, imxo! Thx, Sohum!

Not the first song they ever wrote, but it is the first one to get recorded to an album. They had been trying to get songs recorded for quite some time before this one did. Still VERY impressive!

So, here you are. Their first self-written song. Everything else you've reacted to was written by someone else. After this, you're going to get to some rather unique music from them. And it just keeps getting better! I like how you're mostly going in order on their channel. After a while, you'll get to official lives, which really show just how talented they are. Their lives are even better than their music videos. And I mean their official lives, as they have very high production values. Their music videos are incredible, though.
I love when Saiki leans into her alto and Miku sings the octave and this was the first song where I (not a vocalist) switched from just liking it to oooooh and the last track on their new album continues this lovely trend. At least 2 styles in this song alone (pun intended) -- the seamless subtle one at the beginning, then a little punchier 1:36-1:50, back in at 2:15, Miku(!) 5:40+; and also plenty of unison. "Boring" harmonic intervals compared to much of their music, yet so enjoyable.

Since it seems like you're going chronistic.. or through their songs from beginning to end, I guess you've come to "just bring it"? You still haven't touched their live-stuff, so I guess live versions of "Don't you tell me" (Yokohama 2023), "Puzzle" (Tokyo Garden 2022(??)) should be next?
"Moratorium" (live 2018) maybe too.. but you don't find it in their channel.
Everyone is going to tell you about the song they did with The Warning but before you listen to the song "Show Them" you should listen to the The Warning which is a band I have been listening to almost as long as Band Maid. @johnkryton3210 She is into both horse racing and poker. She is not a professional player as some fans like to think, but she does play in open tournaments sometimes.
This song has a fairly normal verse-chorus structure but the second verse starts very different from the first verse; it's not a copy-paste of the first verse. They do that a lot. The guitar solo is based on the chords of the chorus.
Band-Maid's collabs with the Warning and Mike Einzinger are not my favorites because they had to water down their sound IMO. Babymetal has some interesting collabs with Lil Uzi Vert, Tom Morello, Polyphia and Bring Me the Horizon among others. The best Japanese bands sound like nothing you hear in the West. Wagakki Band, Maximum the Hormone, Hanabie, Kroi, Paledusk, Broken by the Scream, UKRampage and many more.

I truly feel sad for you. That sucks that it prevents you from enjoying great music. Growing up I didn't understand the lyrics to half of the American songs I heard so wasn't obstacle for me. They do have a killer instrumental called From Now On on their channel. You might enjoy that.
