I don’t know the ins and outs of the English translation of this song, but this is one of my all time favorite song titles. Of any genre or band. “Non-fiction” meaning “facts/reality” in literature, and its used here to convey the idea of “those real days.” Brilliantly clever, to me, anyway. You are noticing just how much work the Maids put into what are essentially straightforward rock songs. I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts when you get to “Blooming.” Widely regarded as one of their finest arrangements. I would use it as an example of how to write the perfect rock/pop song.
I feel like this is one of the strongest songs they had to work with prior to being given the song writing keys by their label. Check out "Alone" from the same album to experience their first home brewed song. And it's all built up from there.
Hello, I want to thank you for your reaction to Band-Maid my favorite band since 2014. As a musician, who's studied and performed music from the age of 15. Kanamincho (Kanami Tono) lead guitarist, writer and composer is a genius in my opinion. I have studied each and every song that Kanami Tono has written and composed. She beyond belief, I studied music theory and she uses everything I have learned in every song. To pick my favorite song by Band-Maid? To show their musical skills I would listen to their instrumentals "From Now On", "Onset" "Giovanni" the instrumental version. Band-Maid saved my life back in 2014 on Facebook. As a disabled musician, I can't play keyboards anymore, Band-Maid makes me survive for one more day every time I listen to them. Thank you again. 🤘🤘👍👍🕊️🇺🇸 Keep Rocking...
1st song i heard by THE MAIDS in 2016 was the mv for 'real existence after getting a youtube recommendation. that was my introduction to japanese female rock and metal. loved it so much i saw this and instantly punched it up for my next song. 2 songs in and i was SOLD in about 10 minutes. what a glorious find.
I stood on Kanami-san's side in Detroit (May 24, 2023) and I didn't wear ear protectors as a personal choice. lol, I don't regret it but dayem, my hearing became muffled half-way through! At first I thought the volume of the instruments changed but later on realized that it was my ears that blew out. Listening to the lead guitar is definitely an experience. Next time, it'll be the middle for me--Saiki-san's section with Akane-san behind her (I'll try at least). I've been to MISA-san's side (bassist) and in between MISA-san and Miku-chan (rhythm guitarist).
Same thing happened to me in Detroit on Kanami's side. My friend was on crutches so security put us in handicapped seating in front of Kanami's speakers. My ears rang for three days. 🤯 The experience of a lifetime ! ❤️
Exposure to sound above 85 decibels for more than 10 minutes will cause permanent hearing loss. It happened to me,only I was exposed for more than 2 hours. Ten Years After were the loudest; so loud I left the concert early because my ears were hurting.
One of my favorite OMV and songs! Love the compression on Saiki's vocals. Note the blush makeup high on her cheeckbone right under the eyes. Love the location. Akane outdoes herself again. She one of the most inventive and powerful drummers to ever eat a banana (or pick up a pair of sticks)! Good reaction! All Maids took a song and executed it with verve, panache and passion. Always passion!
The Non-Fiction Days use to be their go-to closer. When the song ended, the Maids would give Miku her few seconds to say goodbye, bow, and then all quickly walk off stage. The crowd felt like they'd been run over by a speeding freight train of awesomeness. It all felt so good and the fans wanted more! But they were leaving... until next time! Thx, Sohum!
Thanks Sohum. Live versions of this song will frequently include an extended Misa-Kanami collab. Just FYI, they didn't write this song, but Kanami and the band I think learned some things about rock music and writing from their earlier studio pieces. And oh ya, Band Maid live must be experienced. And I also went earplug-less. You have got to hear the band. Cheers.
7:27 There is only one thing that can keep up with *Kanami's* guitar shredding, and that is *Akane's* drumming. In addition *Jimmy Page* is a fan of *Akane* request a photo op with her after one of the shows. 😁🍺
"Oh!... Oh!... OH!" Yeah, exactly. The Maids are RELENTLESSLY good! They don't drop off in quality at any point, but just keep rocking your rear off start to finish. Every time.
This is from the 2016 Album "Brand New Maid" which was somewhat a transition stage for Band-Maid where they were finally allow to write one song to be release on this album. that song is "Alone" (available on their TH-cam channel). Non-Fiction Days music was written by Toshinari Onishi and Kanata Nakamura wrote the lyrics. Soon after this "Mini-CD" as they call it (only 8 songs), Band-Maid was writing their own music by Kanami Tono And Lyrics by Miku Kobato.......and the rest is history. At this time, as of October I believe, They are totally independent and are now their own company “MAIDIT Co., LTD.” and we couldn't be more proud of them.....God knows I helped finance them....LOL!
Your song selection is very ideal! Please continue with Bandmaid's reactions. I think it would be interesting to compare the LIVE version and the studio version someday.
"The Non Fiction Days" was not composed by the Maids... they began to include their compositions since the song "Alone"... currently almost all the material on their albums is composed and arranged by themselves.😉
You contradict yourself, you say that you would like to see Band-Maid live... but you haven't bothered to see any of their live performances, you have only reacted to three of their official MVs. I get it, you must be one of those "reactors" who rather to only react to studio versions... but any Maids fan will tell you that the videos of their live performances are usually better and memorable.🤔
Sohum , I`m gonna ask again , why do your videos look so zoomed in n cut off on the sides , what kind of program do you run them through before you post them , it looks bad .
@@Sohum Don't worry about copyright with Band-Maid, especially their official music videos and lives. They even watch reactions. Part of what made them popular outside of Japan is reactors on TH-cam. And who knows? They may have already watched one of your videos :)
*BAND MAID!!*
I have a feeling your really going to enjoy your trip down the *pigeon hole*

Great reaction, Sohum! I like your comments on what the Maids are doing throughout the song. Many more great songs to come . . .
Thanks a ton

Thank you. If there was ever a time that we needed Band-Maid, it's now.
what do you mean
@Sohum It's a scary time for many of us in America. That's all I really want to say.

Could you do "Rinne" MV next please, just cos i asked & i'm super nice. Ta.🙂👍
Only in the next life, Po.
Ill be a character witness. gary is really really nice and Rinnie MV is an excellent choice to show a different side to BM.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Yes, Rinne is great. They are all great. Even the ones they haven't written yet...great.
@@MrBryanwithay Aw shucks.🤭 And like me BAND-MAID aren't serial killers either...🤔 tho the jury's still out on MISA :)

First time we see Miku with a Zemaitis guitar and Akane's drum kit has gotten bigger.
I think I just felt an earthquake from a thousand fans finger drumming along. Maybe it was just me.
Welcome to this magic music! Band-Maid just doesn't know how to do a bad song, but always different!

Dedication to their craft. They were freezing their beautiful butts off while filming this video. 🥶
