It’s not AI or Saiki speaking. They just got an actor.
By “serving”, they mean a concert. It’s part of their maid theme. They call the concerts servings (okyuji), and refer to their audience as masters (goshujin sama) and princesses (ojousama). There’s a spot where Miku says masters and princess in English as an ad lib towards the end of Manners. It took me forever to figure that out.

A One Man Concert = Just one band on the bill. No support bands, just one band playing. It's a huge stage in a bands career in Japan. Bands usually start in tiny live houses at the bottom of a bill (you are on first - often before the main crowd has even arrived), with 3, 4, or even more bands playing. Entering a live house you are often asked which band(s) you have come to see. If your band get the numbers you move up the bill. Until one day you can get enough for your first ever one man show. Note, even today Band-Maid usually play one man servings (concerts), no support bands. Or rarely.

Saiki was born Feb. 8th 1994, so in the play/acting time she was @19. As of today, Saiki is the youngest and Akane is the oldest member. The person doing the Saiki dialog is, Yuri Takashima, Ohrenji chose her to do voice of Saiki in this and his other episodic endeavor "The Pigeon Who Dreams of Singing", she's real not AI. As you'll see as you watch these doc's.... Kanami had worked with Akane before on Kanami's recordings before Band Maid was formed and Akane had known MISA from Tokyo School of Music. The common music type between these 3 ranges from classic rock to Smashing Pumpkins. Actually, that large crowd was @ 12,000 at their 10th Anniversary Finale at Yokohama Arena, it's their largest crowd that wasn't a festival. The acoustic at the end is "Puzzle" which was followed by "Memorable".

Saiki once said in an interview that if they all went to the same school, none of them would be friends. But I gotta believe Akane would have known them all.

  • @waynebenedict5785
    @waynebenedict5785 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

Akane and MISA have known each other the longest, as they went to the same music collage, with next being Kanami, who enlisted Akane and MISA into her video covers she summitted to studios to get noticed. Miku and Saiki had no knowledge of the other members, and until Miku decided to start the band she didn't know any of the other members but found Kanami of the internet and, as they say, the rest is history! Saiki was a teenager when she was recruited into Band-Maid.

  • @JamesJames-iy6vx

Saiki was born in February 1994. And please keep doing all the documentaries. I assure you that the Maidiacs will love it and appreciate you for it although they themselves would have watched all 7 parts ad infinitum.
The last song is PUZZLE live acoustic version from their 2018 Zepp Tokyo concert, a heart rending, gut wrenching performance by Saiki, assisted by the superb back up vocals of Kanami.
At the end of this number, there'll be a bit of banter between Saiki, Kanami and the audience. Let this banter run until the next song, ANEMONE, begins. Another heart rending, tear jerking performance by Saiki assisted by the superb back up vocals of Kanami again.
To start this journey, do look up the lyrics of these 2 songs before you begin in order to understand the context of the songs, in particular, PUZZLE.
Then, react to the studio (non-acoustic) versions of these 2 songs first.
Next, there are 2 official live versions of PUZZLE. Once from their 2017 Shinkiba Studio Coast concert (which I prefer) and another from their January 2023 concert in Tokyo Garden (I think).
ANEMONE (non-acoustic) used to have an official MV but I dont see it anymore. So, you'll just have to settle for the studio recording. There are live versions out there but they are fancam videos and the sound quality dont quite capture the 2 gut wrenching electric guitar solos in the song.
FINALLY, react to the earlier mentioned acoustic versions of PUZZLE and ANEMONE from their 2018 Zepp Tokyo concert. Now, immediately preceding these back-to-back songs (interspersed with light banter), there is a rather long music box intro played on a backing track before PUZZLE begins. This tune is adapted from Anemone. If you can, leave this long intro in. It really sets the mood for despair and melancholy which are the central themes of the 2 songs. Trust me, you won't regret. You might hate me for putting you through the melancholic tune, but you wont regret it.

Regarding naming convention, in countries like Japan, Korea and Hungary, they put family name first then given name. So, for Kobato Miku - Kobato is family name and Miku is her given name.

Thank you for reacting to the Saiki documentary, Ohrenje and his team did excellent work on this series. That song you asked about was the acoustic version of "Puzzle." There is the full band original version on TH-cam, and I'm sure somebody will provide a link to the acoustic version shown in the documentary. The last song they showed in the documentary was "Memorable." 2016 was a difficult year for Saiki, as Band Maid performed 101 servings (Band Maid refers to a concert as an okyu-ji or servings) in 9 different countries that year, so it really took a toll on her voice. Also, a "One-Man" concert in Japan is a concert with only one Band or artist. Please take care and I hope you have an awesome New Year.

Nippon is the Nihongo (Japanese) word for Japan.
Kobato is her artist surname. She goes by Kobato because it means small pigeon. East Asian names normally go by Surname First name.

Thank you for your reaction. I'm not an expert but concerning the order of Japanese names, surname is typically first. The characters in Japanese I found is 小鳩ミク, Which by internet translation is - Ko, Hato, Mi, Ku. Not sure, why the H seems to become B, but either way the order is obvious. Artists knows that other cultures often have the names the other way around and sometimes adopt, maybe just to make life easier. My #1 band is band maid, but my #1 artist is Kenshi Yonezu as the name is written on his youtube page, yet in Japanese charachters it is 米津玄師, the other way around (Yonezu Kenshi). Have fun! :)

Still with you Sohum. I've watched all these docs so many times- there is always something that I missed. They are made by two guys that come from the Maidiac community- One a band-Maid archivist if you like and the other a professional voice over person.
One Man show- Solo headlining band show. The first song you wanted to know about was- Anemone Official Live Video Zeppelin 2018 (Acoustic). The second song- Memorable Official Music Video 2023. Written as a thank you for the US fans that sold out all but a few of the shows during the tours in 2022 and 2023.

Miku Kobato is the pigeon's stage name/Band-Maid persona. Neither is her real name. She _always_ refers to herself as Kobato, and the band does about 90% of the time, rarely calling her MIku. Miku is the fan base's name for her.

Don't worry, as maidiacs we will watch all the documentaries along with you, we love watching new fans fall further in the pigeon hole, there's no way out now. Your question about the name of Miku -in Japan, surname (family name) is listed first, followed by the given name, so John Smith would be Smith John. Also, most Japanese called each other by the family name, so the other members call Miku as "Kobato". Very close friends will sometimes use the given name. It's a bit of a trope in anime where sharing given names can be very embarrassing.

Thanks for reacting to Ohrenje's docu-series on BAND-MAID. FYI, Kobato is (sort of) Miku's surname, and Miku is her given name (i.e., first name). You'll learn a bit about her name, and more, when you get to her 3-parter at the end of the docu-series.
As for your enjoyment of their banter, I can't judge you any worse than myself. There is something uniquely satisfying when listening to the maids talk with each other. Ohrenje has captioned "videos" of the BAND-MAID NIPPON talk show that was hosted by Miku and Saiki. He even did a manga version for a few of the episodes. HINT: there's an episode 11 with a special guest host that is particularly fun to watch (it's not in a playlist, so you'll have to search for it. Try "BAND MAID NIPPON Akane").
Looking forward to your reaction to Kanami's documentary!

A one man concert is just one with a single act (band or artist) rather than having an opening act or whatever. Band-Maid almost exclusively plays one man now, but a lot of bands early on don’t have enough material or stamina or whatever to do one mans.
