      Same for carrot stains, the carotine is oil soluble. So if you eat carrots for the vitamins, always mix in some oils so your body can absorb it.

      Yup, I left my teaching career because of the lack of respect anyone has for anyone: Students, parents, and administrators for teachers; parents, teachers, and administrators for students; and of course politicians for the whole damned institution. Everything is just so insanely conflict-driven, it's a miserable place to be for everyone involved. I heard it was better at one point. It felt like it was better when I was a student. But man, I don't know how we got here.

    • @kewoshk
      @kewoshk ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SamWeltzin just what other job gets this amount of disrespect? I have been thinking about this for the past year and still haven’t found an answer. The schooling system that is in place now is ill-fitting with the needs of this age and the teachers get bashed instead of the institutions that keep this rotten system alive, despite its horrible shortcomings. We can’t even choose what we want to teach and we get the stink eye. If the conditions don’t change anytime soon, they won’t be able to find anyone that is willing to teach and only the abusive teachers will remain, causing a wild number of issues that they deserve tbh. And in my country the minimum wage is getting closer to what teachers are getting paid (at least that’s the amount closer to what private schools pay) and I don’t think the teachers would remain there. They would seriously consider working in other lines of work that has less bitching and way better work-life balance. Those parents and spoiled brats can go and fuck themselves then. I would rather die than working as a teacher again. Sorry for the foul language but that’s honestly what I feel.

      @@kewoshk Yeah. I think part of this whole thing is by design. I'm not sure what country you're living in, but mine, the United States, has had one of its major parties making a concerted effort for decades and decades to try to destroy public schooling and privatize everything by running smear campaigns against what happens in public schools, 50% of which is made-up, and 50% of which they caused. I grew up in the US, and it really was rare to meet any other student who could honestly say, “I like my teachers, respect what they do, and are thankful for their lessons and help!” People are always so resentful and cynical towards teachers. Probably because a lot of school teachers also lack motivation and training to be effective teachers, and thus, left pretty bad impressions on their students.
    Teachers SHOULD be treated and payed as much as more highly respected professions like doctors or engineers. BUT, they should also be given much more comprehensive training and be hired based on higher standards by schools and Boards of Education.
    School teacher are essentially second parents to kids. Children meet them almost every day, spend hours a week watching and listening to them in class, and basically grow up with them.
    Teachers deserve more pay, more helpful training, and more respect from not only parents and students, but from the government itself.
    It’s probably idealistic and naive I know, but hey, if we can teach the next generation to be better, then maybe they won’t be as cynical and defeatist as the people firing up their fingers to type pessimistic hate comments right now.

    We need an Emkay podcast. Robin ranting about life's BS, Lexi going all nerd on tech stuff, Jack just being Jack. Hell, we could get the EzPz and AskEmkay folks in there, plus Damien and Zack too.
    @8:30: Chuck Feeney would be the best example of a great billionaire. He started Duty Free Shoppers Group, those places you see in the airport. He was (key word there) worth $8 Billion. He has given it ALL away to various charities. He's 91 and lives on $2 Million that he kept and rents an apartment in San Francisco (as of 2016). He only ever travelled in coach, never owned a car or house, and wears a $10 Casio F-91W watch. He plans on dying broke....on purpose. Chuck Feeney is the best kind of billionaire, Mark Cuban is second.

    In oklahoma I had to pick up one of my brothers nephews. I walked into the school and started wandering around. A teacher stopped me and asked what I was doing. I said I was looking for the little kids school area. They sent me over to the right spot. I didn't remember the kids name, so I said I'm here for a little boy. They just handed the kid over. I had no identification on me. No information about the child. They just gave him to me. This still creeps me out to this day.

    Mark Cuban has helped save my life. My insurance decided that it no longer wanted to cover my medication, imatinib (yes the same one from the video), and all the pharmacies and my insurance told me I make too much money to receive help on buying my life saving medication. I'm a high school teacher and the medication costs roughly 2.5 times my monthly mortgage at the cheapest I could find it. Thanks to Mark Cuban, I don't have to choose between going into life-ending debt or life-ending cancer.
