    Very helpful video, thanks!
Can you perhaps give any tips on how to disassemble the plastic bush assemblies that press onto the balls on the linkages at the gearbox end ? In other words, the end-connectors that you are busy with at 08:18 ? These look like 3- or 4-piece assemblies comprising the brown plastic inner clip (the part you squeezed), a cylindrical inner plastic liner, a rubber outer liner and a black plastic retainer cage (the part marked with yellow paint).
On my vehicle the brown inner clip and black outer retainer cage have broken, causing the cable end to pop off the linkage ball. I have another selector assembly from a scrapyard that I want to swap parts with, but I'm not sure how to disassemble and want to avoid breaking them while I learn 🙂
It's easy to get the brown inner clips out but not sure about the rest. Any help much appreciated!

THIS is a cool and detailed video, thanks!
I realize it is a bit old now, and you might have dumped the car by now - but maybe you remember ::
I have a small problem with an almost similar car - Megane 2 CC from 2005. The gear lever/stick often refuse to center in neutral, when I let go of the stick. It can make it a hazzle to shift also when driving, because you're expecting it to help guiding through the gears...
Can you suggest where it might be sticking? The linkage/selector was actually changed to a brand new one apx 1 yr ago because something broke inside it and made reverse unusable.
Does the gearbox itself contain some form of spring to make it pop back to center in neutral, or where is that function "hidden"?

Hi. Thanks for appreciation. Yes. Inside the gearbox must be something wrong if linkage are fine.

    Hey mate, great video.
I got a question. In what situation you need to replace the cables? My Megane's gear stick got super stiff. Undrivable stiff. I read in some forums about cleaning out the bush. Just not sure which ones could be clogged

Hi. Cleaning it may get better and keep you going for a while but I would say to replace it because there is probably something wrong or modified in there . Try to change gearbox oil also. Check if clutch is doing it's business too...put it in gear and see if there is enough free travel on clutch pedal before engaging...the cleaning I assume it should be done at the gearbox side because on the lever side it is seal so no problem should be there. But be careful when you take it apart because can break very easy.... about the question when you have to really change it when it breaks or is just to loose and is not going in any gear or only in some gears...hope this helps

Hey Bogdan, thank you for upload this video. This is very helpful for me. I have a question, do you install the cables with the neutral engaged?. I have this doubt because my gear selector was broken with the second gear engaged and I don´t know if I need to put my gearbox in neutral or I can to install the gear selector with the second gear. Thank you very much.

Hi. Don't worry about the gear you are. When you connect the cables the selector from in the car will go in the gear that gearbox is. Just be careful not to mix the cables.

I did this last year to my Renault convertible, I parked it for the winter and today I got it back out, and when I got home and put it in reverse I lost gears again -_- I replaced the wire with a brand new one, so idk why this happened again :S Not sure what to do, I don't want to do all this work again if its just gonna fail again and again :(

Hi my gear shifter has come disconnected from the shifter not gearbox end. Can I check cable by not removing it, can I do it inside car? Thanks

When I shift from 4th, but mostly from 5th to 3rd gear, it gets stuck, behaving like it is in neutral. I have to repeatly shift from 3rd gear to neutral, to make it work. Got Megane 2 1.5dci 78kW. Will this solve my problem? Is it the gearbox or the transmission?
