      Deployed for two years. While I was gone, my sister used my car. She traveled all over hell and half of Georgia. I forget how many thousands of miles she put on it. About two months after I got back and took the car back, of a Sunday morning in the middle of nowhere, there came a wondrous knocking from the engine.

I gingerly drove it down the street to the Honda dealership so they could replace all of the wheel studs. I have never been so scared before driving a vehicle but that was sketchy as hell. My wife was following behind me and she was freaking out the whole time. How do you think I felt, woman. But all is good and it's safe to drive and the most important thing. • @darkshadowsx5949
      @darkshadowsx5949 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i was doing just minor maintenance on my vehicles. until one day my 6 speed automatic transmission gave up and only went in reverse.
      instead of paying $3k or more to get it fixed i bought a shop manual on ebay for $8 and watched some guy on youtube disassemble one at least 6 times.
      read the manual a few times and even got into the technical diagrams explaining how the whole solenoid valve body works to shift gears. the manual was impressively detailed. i bought all the parts and tools i needed for $800-1000 and took my time fixing it. took it apart and assembled it 3 times and then went through the entire transmission to find everything worn out and replaced it.
      the forward piston had ripped and my overdrive clutch plates burnt. replaced the whole overdrive clutch pack including steels and all the clutch plates in the other packs. as well as the forward piston that caused all the problems. i got it all put back together without missing a single thing.
      it works like brand new now. everything was put back where it belongs. i think its funny no one wants to touch a transmission let alone think about taking one apart, but i dove right in.
      if people cant take the time to learn how to do the work properly they have no business doing the work at all.
      i refuse to pay $120 an hour for dealer mechanic labor. I rather learn a new skill. i used the money i saved to buy a backup car. so i got more out of it.

    We had a guy at work not change the oil in his company truck for almost 70,000 miles. Our oil changes are super simple - take it to the lube place, tell them the company it’s for and then sign two papers…that literally it, no documentation to keep track of, no receipts. He also had the entire back seat and front passenger seat full of Hunt Brothers pizza boxes, and empty Mountain Dew and Dr Pepper bottles. And when I say full, I mean literally floor to ceiling.

      @Orxenhorf ปีที่แล้ว

      If the shop is smart, they make the customer sign an acknowledgement of how unsafe it is before returning the keys. Good luck trying to get cops to respond to a report of that in under 2 hours though. The car will be long gone.

      Plot twist, safety inspection are not mandatory all over US and several states didnt had any so you can drive around with your death trap until It litteraly falls appart

    That's why I change my oil every
    89,999 miles whether it needs it or not.
    Actually I change my oil every 3,000 miles. 2010 Nissan Altima 221,000 miles and it doesn't use a drop of oil. No " fancy " oil or filter, whatever is cheapest at Auto Zone or Advance.

    It amazes how stupid people are to not check for things like the shoes behind the brakes and not checking to see if the air vent was open

    As a European, seing some of the cars that are on the road in the US reminds me of some of the cars I saw in Africa. We decry tech inspections because it cost money but at least there are no death trap driving with us on the roads.

      If the Police in the USA see a car that looks dangerous on the road they can potentialy put it out of service or write a repair order preventing them from driving it. This is less than 1% of the cars on the road. Majority of the folks have decent cars on the motorways here.

      1% deathtraps..
      Compared to 0.0001 in EU.
      A traffic jam, 100 cars...
      20 got smashed because the 1% did not have good enough brakes.
      1% is absurd amount of cars that should not be allowed.
      I wonder if 1% of the guns in the USA would misfire and explode...
      There would be quickly regulations for this!!

    While working for a trucking company, we had a truck come in that was 50,000 miles past its regular B-service (oil change) interval , normal interval at that time was 25,000 miles. Additionally, we also performed what we called an A-service at 12,500 miles between oil changes. So not only did the driver skip 2 oil changes, skipped routine 2 vehicle inspections. As a result, we ended up putting $12,000 worth of repairs on the truck.

    Sometimes it is truly baffling how cars in the US can drive around. Over here they wouldn't even let you drive out of the workshop anymore when a car is that broken.

    • @jimmydesouza4375

      @@rhuephus Nah even in britain as long as your car can pass a pretty light set of tests (that most shops don't even perform properly anyway) they let you drive out. A lot of MOT places earn a reputation of being "easy", which is they will just pass anything, because it is a bunch of guaranteed business for them. Basically once you have the set up qualifications to be classed as an MOT testing center there's no real quality control past that point to make sure you're actually testing correctly.
