Our son James does all the directing, filming and editing. He watches each scene as we film and if we cannot see the process clearly enough, we will re-do it to make sure you can see what is happening. He also checks my language to make sure I don't repeat myself or use the same phrases repeatedly (I like to throw in the work "now" LOTS of times in my explanations).
And once again, you've shown us a straightforward method of binding. I struggle with traditional binding, yet your way makes sense, and your detailed video is valuable. Thank you for your uncomplicated tutorial. Happy Quilting!

I am 59. Will be 60 in july. I have been quilting every seen 2021. I did some when my kids was little be they didn't stay together. So I stopped. My daughter got my me another sewing machine so i could make masks and that is when i found Donna Jordan. I have learned so much about quilting from her. She is so precious and explains everything so well that i can understand it.
So nice to know your husband cuts all the fabric pieces. We can purchase all we need, even the pattern's, in a kit from Jordan Fabric's. That eliminates the pressure of doing it myself. If I'm pressed for time to make a gift for someone, I can just make sure I always have your husband's precut kit's on hand. How convenient. Thanks for your class today. Your great.

I do not give baby quilts. I prefer to give full sized quilts so the child can grow with the quilt and have it after they are an adult. I just ordered this kit from you along with backing. I am now happy when I have been really feeling rather glum about making a quilt for her. Now I am excited!

I saw someone do the binding in reverse, sewn onto the back first and flipped to the front and stitch in the ditch on the front. I'm going to try that just for comparison. I've got a quilt in the works right now so I'll be giving it a go soon.

Easy, straightforward way to do the binding. I was taught in many quilting classes, the quarter seam to join the binding pieces, pinning the binding to the quilt, and whip stitching the binding to the seam. But your method looks so much quicker and much more effective. The corner turns are much more effective than mine also! Thank you for these time-saving tips!
Great Tutorial! Thank you! You break down the pattern and the sequence of sewing that makes everything so understandable. I look forward to trying this pattern. I have a layer cake in Laurel Burch cats fabric that I've been wanting to use but, I didn't want to cut up the lovely cats. This pattern will really highlight that fabric. And your binding tutorial at the end was excellent. I can't tell you how many times I've had to remove binding and start over again. On larger quilts, I have someone put the binding on for me ~~ yes, it's expensive but it looks better than what I can do. I will try your method, Donna.
Love the teal cranes in this fabric line. I would buy this collection, but I've got two similar ones in my stash awaiting a project. Love these japanese style prints with the metallic accents. Keep them coming! There is never enough videos on doing binding. It's the part that I dislike the most because I'm side challenged. I always manage to sew those bias edge bindings in the wrong direction, attach the binding in a weird place, struggle with the corners, and then manage to miss sewing the binding somewhere along the long edge so I have to go back and snug up better.
I always have to check the back side to make sure that I caught the binding everywhere, and sometimes find that I didn't and have to fix it up. I have gotten better with LOTS of practice!

You always do such a great job of teaching, I've learned so much from you. I am currently teaching a single mom and four of her children, ages two at 10 yrs, (girls), 12 and 15 (boys) to sew. This will be a great example on adding the binding. Mom and her 18 yr daughter will now be learning to quilt. I am so excited with the enthusiasm of the entire family.

You always do such a great job of teaching, I've learned so much from you. I am currently teaching a single mom and four of her children, ages two at 10 yrs, (girls), 12 and 15 (boys) to sew. This will be a great example on adding the binding. Mom and her 18 yr daughter will now be learning to quilt. I am so excited with the enthusiasm of the entire family.
