Change your microbes and your food addiction will change. You have sabotaging micro organisms inside you 😢 messing with your brain 🧠. Push breakfast back by 1 hour for a week to reach 16:8. Only eat for 8 hours a day and FEEL the power of taking control of your life. 🎉it's better than drugs

I am a very healthy 80, no medication of any kind, walk a big dog 3X a day, about 2 hours. Break my fast at midday, protein and fresh veg only, with some fermented food, kefir always. If I am hungry, rarely, at 6ish, I will eat olives and cheese. Now and then I will have something sweet or a potato. Drink coffee, about 3X little milk and cream, otherwise water. Clean eat only, nothing in a tin, packet, or bag, or man made, I eat nothing that I have not cooked. Menopause came and went, uneventful. Menopause was never a disease in my generation, until doctors found a cure for it. I have not used any soap, cream, etc. on my skin for over 20 years, water only. I deodorise with body butter mixed with bicarb and aromatherapy oils, brush teeth with bicarb, salt and peppermint oil. Wash my hair with baby oil. Sleep a minimum of 8 hours. My health, energy and brain power are excellent. Have not seen a doctor for ever. Health is a birthright, it is our default setting.

Fasting truly has some amazing benefits, and for menopausal women this will remove the damaged forms of estrogen that accumulate with age. Some benefits of occasional extended fasting and lowering carbs in the diet: High blood pressure is lowered to normal levels very quickly while fasting. Fibrosis/scarring is reversed over time, including in the heart and lungs.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion plaques, growths and pathogens by the immune system. This will also remove spikes quicker, whether natural or unnatural in origin!
    Blood clotting is lessened.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased as fasting improves metabolic health, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy.
T cells and T reg cells are vital in fighting cancer, autoimmune disease and infections but as we age the thymus stops making as many of them. Fasting releases stem cells, which then can become new T cells. It also releases growth hormone, which regenerates the thymus itself!
Fasting restores NAD+ and increases nitric oxide release to open blood vessels.
Reflexes and short term memory are increased.
Your body recycles up to 1/3 of all immune bodies in a 72h fast, rejuvenating your entire immune system. This helps prevent the onset of new autoimmune conditions, which develop through a leaky gut and damaged immune system.
Fasts from 36-96 h increase metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
Fasting increases anti-aging Yamanaka factors and increases average telomere length in stem cell pools.
Fasting can help with MS, Depression, BPD, Autism and seizures.
Fasting restores your circadian rhythm to normal over time.
The hunger hormone ghrelin also lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast but most teas and herbs are OK. Supplements and meds often break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many meds are dangerous to take while fasting.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone. Fasting also increases insulin sensitivity, which helps with muscle building.
Fasting activates autophagy (literally self eating). This will cause cells to recycle damaged proteins and foreign matter such as viruses.
Lowering insulin via fasting virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body.
Weight loss from daily caloric restriction has 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight lost as lean tissue while many studies show fat loss from 36 h fasts without losing any lean tissue!
The obese will lose loose skin while fasting, but the frail will have increased growth hormone release, which helps to make more lean tissue and reduce frailness.
Fasts of 36-96 will not affect short term female fertility or affect menstrual cycle. They also may increase long term fertility issues for some women.
Fasting reduces pain and anxiety by stimulating the endocannabinoid system, just like the effect of CBD oil
Just 24h of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half! This reduces leptin resistance, which impairs immune function.
Stomach acid is reduced over time while fasting and can allow for the healing of treatment resistant ulcers. Some patients may need continued acid reduction medication while fasting.
Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose. Except for brief periods of very intense exercise, your body mainly burns fats in the form of free fatty acids.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism, fighting infection and cancer prevention!
Fasting releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth. This can help a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
When not in ketosis, the brain can only burn carbohydrate, which produces a great deal of damaging ROS the brain has to deal with.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells, destroying them. Senescent cells are responsible for many of the effects of aging and are a root cause of the development of cancer.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and extremely low carbs.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. They also help with dementia and many other issues even if you take them while not fasting!
Glycine and trimethylglycine can also be useful supplements while fasting that won't break ketosis and have many benefits.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness or tremors, then simply break the fast and seek advice.

For the first time I feel like a woman is breathing life into the truth of what women go through as they navigate the chaos of their cycle, hormones, work/life balance, toxins and the actual disconnect we have from the natural woman. I love how she explained the chaos isn't internal but rather a lack of knowledge of women in understanding their hormonal system. 10/10

24:56 I’ve been pregnant or nursing or both for the past four years, so I started fasting 36 hours anyway. I had to. Baby had fever for a few days, I got my cycle back within a week after starting fasting at 7 months postpartum. Longest fast was 40 hours. I’m pregnant again and in a much better place than if I hadn’t started fasting.

This is a great conversation. And also, I feel overwhelmed. I have her books, I've listened to lots of her podcasts, but as a woman who has a period every few months due to perimenpause shifts away from a regular cycle, I feel really overwhelmed and don't know where to start. When I fast, my cortisol skyrockets and then I get the pendulumn swing back. I can't figure out how to put her information to work in my life since I am neither regularly cycling nor in menopause and I have no idea when to expect my period or what phase my hormones are in at any given moment.

Hey there as somebody who messed up the first month and started fasting immediately before her period I just wanted to share that regardless of whether you have your cycle or not, she recommends following the moon cycle or if it’s easier just start with your last period that you had an account every 28 or 30 days and follow the graph in her book. You said you have her books she has everything written out thereto fast and fast

    • @kbc1883
      @kbc1883 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@aMaga-24 Thanks, Amy. Yes, she does. The challenge I’m having is with the fasting triggering cortisol and anxiety and then I get boomerang cravings. It could be mental (I’ve struggled with disordered eating my entire life, with lots of support, but still very prone to binges if feeling deprived/hungry). I easily intermittently fast, usually am OMAD, but the longer fasts have been tricky. I need to reread parts of her book.

    • @kbc1883
      @kbc1883 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@chrismacfly6122 She does, but that doesn’t address the situation I am in where I still get periods, they are just erratic and the cycle itself is stretched way out, so I may bleed heavily for a full 10 days or have PMS symptoms for 2 weeks then the next period might be more like spotting for 3 days. So my hormones are cycling but not in any predictable way and yet the moon cycle following also doesn’t work because it doesn’t match what is going on with my body. It’s just a challenging time to try to get anything new started. And it’s overwhelming generally.

But i was born with a persnickety heart and am now in heart failure. So I'm not supposed to fast any longer. It's so hard trying to force myself to eat breakfast. But now the world is upside down and I'm supposed to change everything. Can't even use certain skincare products any longer. It's crazy and hard.

Good discussion, however, so much toxic exposure is completely out of our control. I have known too many people that have succumbed to cancer living on golf courses and next to farms it is scary. Most of us live in toxic environments. The water, the air, the food supply both organic and non-organic appear to be the smoking guns and we cannot escape it. As long as we allow this to happen not sure using non-toxic soap is going to do much.
