    What’s up, everybody? I hope you’re well. I wasn’t going to do a review of the Big Bar because I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of reviews lately, but I guess many of you appreciate me sharing my thoughts on all this home fitness equipment because I’ve had a couple dozen requests for a Big Bar review come through in the past 2 weeks alone. So, here you go!
    The Big Bar is one of the latest releases from BaseBlocks. It’s a full-size, freestanding pull up bar that’s solid, sturdy and built just as well as their other bars. It stands at 81" (206 cm) at its high setting. You can use it for everything from assisted pull ups to learning your muscle up, front lever and back lever. I cover the assembly, usage and storage in the video and share my thoughts on it.
    I hope this is helpful! Don’t forget to use my discount code if you decide to buy it (or anything from BaseBlocks) so you save 10% on your order, and thanks for the support! 🙏

    I just got mine yesterday. Before I ordered it, I scratched off the base bar, because the big bar had that hidden feature. Well, I've come to find out that the hidden feature is a hidden feature for a reason. It's too much work switching between big bar and base bar levels. Assembly was a workout in itself. 😭🤣 So yea, I'm still gonna get the base bar and the conversation kit. The big bar is a very satisfying purchase, and I'll be investing in the majority of base block's collection as time progresses.

    I was wondering if you could elaborate a bit on how the push pins on the t stands work? My blindness prevents me from seeing how the assembly works but I pretty much understand everything else. You are literally the only person who talks about how to assemble this thing at least that I could find. I also did not have a manual in the package for mine that came last week. You sold me on the base bar and rings and I had no trouble assembling the base bar myself.

    After watching this, I decided to skip this base block model. The reason I said this is because I have the original basebar, and already having a tough time switching back and forward in height.
    I saw many pull up bars, and one that excites me the most is the Fit! Home Gym. Sure it cost more but to be able to just snap and go, man that is nice.
    So with that, I learn my pull ups, chin up through this base bar I have now, get my reps and strength and before moving to the Fit! Home Gym.

      @@Ronnock hey, there a down side to Fit! Home gym. That being said, if you are an advanced athlete, or someone already advanced in calisthenic, you might want the Basebar.
      My nephew has the fit! And I have this original Basebar, he saw more benefit in the Basebar because he is way more advanced than I am. Minus the dip bar. But imagine he had the pro Basebar or 2 of the original Basebar.
      For now, I prefer using the Fit! Home Gym, but I still used the Basebar. The one I have is the single version, or single bar.

    The website mentions that the recommended ceiling height is 98'+ or 8ft 2 inches. I have a standard 8 foot ceiling. Since they recommend a minimum of 8ft2 inches, will I have a problem with it in my apartment? For example, I'm 5'11'', will I be able to do a full rise on a pullup?

  • @winsonlimofficial
    @winsonlimofficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Quick question. I'm planning to improve my strength using push and pull exercises. Do I really need the Big bar for pull ups and chin ups? Or I can just get the B bars? How's the big bar compare to a ceiling pull up bar? I am thinking should I just install a ceiling pull up bar which is cheaper than the Big bar? What's the advantages of having a big bar? I'm mainly wanted to do dips and pull ups. And also learning other push pull exercises to improve my strength.

    Do you think it’s stable enough to also use it as a anchor for TRX for some inverted standing rows?

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s stable, but I wouldn’t recommend anchoring your TRX on it. The TRX would loop around the bar and the carabiner would attach to the strap, so there’s nothing preventing the TRX from sliding off the top of the bar and down the sides. You’re better off anchoring the TRX on a door. It’s safer. I used my rings on the bar but had to be very careful not to let the straps go to close to the sides and slip off.

  • @savagebeafy
    @savagebeafy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure how the TRX mounts to a bar, but if it’s anything like gymnastics rings then I wouldn’t recommend it. The straps around the bar can easily slide too far to the sides and slip off.

      No, it’s way too large for travel. The base especially. If you’re looking for travel size pull up gear, I personally recommend the Duonamic Eleviia for a doorway solution. I use it at airbnbs, hotels, etc. You can use my code MINUS10 to save 10% on it: www.duonamic.com/product/eleviia/
      If you don’t like that option, the next best option is gymnastic rings, but I’ve run into situations where I couldn’t find a good place to hang my rings. That’s why the doorway grips are my preference.

      For example, say you wanna train for max strength, you’d need the big bar to do weighted pull ups, especially if you’re trying to more directly achieve max strength. You will take a longer time doing so with the b-bars.
      Now, for max pushing strength, dips are probably the best method and that’s where the b-bars play their role.

    I really want a free standing pull up bar that's tall enough for me to do a dead hang (195cm tall) but a product like this doesn't seem to exist... This one isn't it either!

    Looks solid but I find most of their products a bit pricey. For that same price I can get quite a lot more...

    Might sound stupid but can you human flag on it ? If you hang on the right pole toward the left one on a slight angle

    • @MinusTheGym
      @MinusTheGym  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, definitely not sturdy enough for human flags
