    Good work and good filming, Kevin; I find these videos with more details and dedicated to a single car make/model much, much better than the ones with more, different cars in a single video.
    If you were to blend the Nm/Foot pounds values as text in the video for the different screws at each step, I think you will become a real reference on the net and gain even more viewers! My two cents...

    It might be a good idea to have a clip of the engine turning over before you change the clutch and flywheel, so we can compare the noise before and after. Especially if it's really bad.

  • @E69apeTheMatrix420
    @E69apeTheMatrix420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is it just me or do the older 1.9 TDI dual mass flywheels give judder feeling straight away or after 500 miles max? Not sure about the newer 2.0 TDI but that flywheel was knackered same as always on these VW. Also fitted 2 Sachs kits to same car within 2 years and they both felt completely different on the pedal with the spring action. Lower gearbox mount is recommended to help hold it still. The more it judders the worse it gets and those bushes are always shot from the constant abuse they get from a bad flywheel. What do you think about all of that? I think the flywheel kits are not strong enough from factory personally.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Henry. A lot of people opt for the poly bush on the dog mount for that reason.
      But in my personal opinion for the GT I’d go for the LUK as the pressure plate are more durable with the self adjuster built in.
      Sachs has a flat pressure plate that may possibly give a smoother drive but doesn’t take the engine torque too well.

    • @E69apeTheMatrix420
      @E69apeTheMatrix420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WMCS Thankyou very much for that. I will look into the updated dog leg. This is on a galaxy / Alhambra / Sharan 1.9 TDI platform. Maybe particularly bad on these? Im 2 cars in and done the job 3 times now including whole front end suspension / ball jointss and bushes on new one. still feels wobbly! I got Sachs kits each time maybe I should have opted LUK then. I want an automatic viano next I hope they are much smoother.

      Hey John.., always great to hear from you. Worst for me is the Citroen C5 because of its suspension ball joint design. And all vehicles which uses a reverse pressure plate system. I just don’t do them anymore.

      They are a bit of a nightmare .., the threads really builds up the powdery rust.

    Good afternoon Kevin I hope life is treating you well. Can I ask a question. I have a 2003 Audi TT 3:2 with a DSG gearbox, the question is why does my DMF rattle when the engine is cold and stops when it’s warmed up and been out for a drive . The car has done 95k so I know it’s all going to be replaced soon
    Cheers Phil

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Phil.
      I take it when it’s in park or neutral it rattles and eventually goes when it’s warm.
      In my opinion in these DMF’s the spacers between the back plates tends to break over time. They are very.
      When the metal is warm it expands and picks up that it of slack
      But eventually all the spacers starts falling apart and you get the constant noise. I suspect yours is it the early fail stage.

    Why does he almost always change the flywheel, together with the clutch and the release bearing? The flywheel is a fairly expensive part.

      Because of the Dual Mass Flywheel

    • @abergbe1
      @abergbe1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mmaiero1993 Can you explain that in more detail, please? I have watched several of William's videos, and I have seen only one, where he did not change also the flywheel. I would avoid doing that, if possible, on my Skoda Fabia from 2004, because the flywheel is a fairly expensive spare part.

      @@abergbe1 First you have to know if your fabia is equipped with the DMF.
      You can read a better explanation than mine online.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual-mass_flywheel
      DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) absorb the vibrations. You have to consider two flywheel attached by some springs (you have a controlled rotation/free-play of the flywheel around 10, 20mm(see the video around minute 26:31), it depends car by car)that turns one against the other(to absorb the vibrations). when the spring /springs inside the flywheel broke down you can hear (when you start or stop) the car a knocking sound(this if you are lucky. Sometimes it can explode and destroy your gearbox).
      I hope you can understand my simple explanation in my bad English.

    that plastic coated disk covering the input shaft, that has a circlip on the outside, thats had a shim mod maybe? and been incorrectly fitted , the circlip goes under the black capon the end of the input shaft!, maybe send the customer a text or something, this is incorrectly fitted EDIT - just googled this gearbox, and yep there shouldnt be any circlip on the outside of that cap!
