very epic, thank you for your bravery. I was in great need of this because the layer of Gamer Grease on my Gamer Mousepad (no anime boobie cushions yet) really dulled the brilliance of its RGB light performance.
The main thing I would suggest is to use fragrance-free hand soap. My steps: 1) unplug USB cable, 2) use soap and water to clean in bath tub. Try not to get light module wet. It doesn't matter if the light strip itself gets wet because it's just an optic fiber, which doesn't have electrical current passing through. 3) lie the mousepad on towel and use a blow dryer until thoroughly dry. Also, press down anywhere on both sides to check for remaining damp spots. Whole process shouldn't take more than 20 mins.
'It doesn't matter if the light strip itself gets wet because it's just an optic fiber, which doesn't have electrical current passing through.' this is the info i needed!
I got inspired cleaning my coolermaster keyboard/mousepad with this video. in addition to your cleaning method, i tried to take out the led assembly that had 4 philipscrews at the back and to my surprise once i had that removed, you are left with a regular pad that can be cleaned with the traditional method. No led lights whatsoever. Thanks!
Just finaly got to your video after searching for weeks, get that like it's more than deserved. I'll also share the video to all my friends with rgb mouse pads
Thank you for this man. So many tutorials are too long and bogged down with useless info, it's good to see an efficient tutorial. I'll def be subscribing.
i was about to commit unlive because i couldn't figure out how to clean my pad but then i watched your video and it gave me faith in humanity again. thank you... earned sub!
A word of advice, cover your expose outlets that connects to the usb cord with duct tape, this ensures that no water can enter the technology and the lights
I spilled a whole can of Coke over my mousepad and I cried and didn't use my computer for a month. I had to do this a few times but it did work I used the other side of the sponge and it didn't hurt anything
I think it's ok to clean it as long as you unplug it obviously and let it dry completely because it won't destroy the lights as long as there's no electricity flowing when cleaning it with like some soap or liquid
An easier and better method is to use the sprayer in your kitchen sink. Just hold the area with the controls up out of the water, and cover with your hand. Spray it down with warm water, squirt a little dish soap around, and spray it down thoroughly. Pat it dry with paper towels and allow to fully air dry. With this method you are getting it fully clean. Don't worry, there are no electronics in the tube surrounding the pad. Cheers!
A quicker way for surface level stains and such is to dampen a wash cloth with rubbing alcohol and scrub the mouse pad a few times avoiding the rgb controller
What a delightful tutorial. Mine looks better than brand new. Also, your soft voice made the tutorial even more enjoyable to watch. Definitely getting a sub from me.
I don't deep clean my mousepad, but I literally just use wet wipes, and it's fine xD. Using the razer goliathus chroma mousepad. Wet wipes seem to be enough.
Your best bet is to submerge it in distilled water and isopropyl alchohol mixture, soap and mineral water can corrode the traces and sabotage any diodes/capacitors
Decided to wash it since I bought it when it first came out and I have been pretty liberal with the water and it has yet to die if any of you are worried. Just found this video to see if there was a more effective way since mine was pretty gross even with regular cleaning.
I just recently got a razer mouse pad and its grey so you can see EVERYTHING ive ever spilt on it. I'm going to try this tommorw to see if it will work. Thanks so much!
@@1337ington I clean mine weekly with soap and water. It totally works and gets all the stains out. I used a blow dryer to dry it off, and it looked brand new. Good luck with yours !!
I just take it in the tub, make sure the module is above water level then scrub with a washcloth and rinse with the shower head, so far so good! What id like to do eventually is see if there’s a way I can mod the module to make it removable to some degree, just need to find the time and patience to figure it out
Hm... I'd be sceptical of putting much sope into there without the possibility of rinsing it out properly. Sope is pretty damn dirty in itself (it only makes things clean once you've thorougly removed it also with water...) and bad smelling bacteria can definitively get worse if soap residue is in there (depends on the soap type and humidity levels etc.) But I guess this method can still work well enough if you're successfull at removing the soap well with the towel. But still, I think I'll just try to clean the entire thing from the RGB-module down, like a normal large mousepad, keeping the module dry. And then washing with a damp cloth around the module. It's not like it's ever going to be full of skin-cells or much dirt up there in that corner anyhow. But even if I would do it differently, the video was well made and to the point, as a tutorial should be. Well done 👍
