That crew was probably dead or close to dying on hours of service. They were most likely dhing home or the away from home terminal/hotel. I have deadheaded in a trailing unit a few times, but the majority of the time we would deadhead in a crew van or Amtrak. NS and CSX are pretty notorious for not treating their employees very welll, so this may be common practice with them.

I've seen crews send photos of roaches in their room, I know NS ain't treat them the best. 😭
@@LocoPro most away from home hotels are in the middle of nowhere. They can range from pretty decent to omg is that a roach or a raccoon.
