Everything about this is wholesome, it reminds me of the early days of the internet where people where just genuinely happy to show of their hobbies and interests with no underlying urge to gain views and money. Keep it up, great content.
Thanks for explaining to me why the majority of internet people I can't watch . It's sad how money gets involved and takes the fun out. I wish was on TH-cam in the early days as it sounds great if it was just people like this guy,.
Same here, and it sucks that they have developed aggression, a new way to speak and addiction to social media. End of an era honestly, and it's not just social media, but everywhere else in the world. Two wars happening, economic crisis especially, etc.
The best is the contrast between this awesome guy’s voice/accent - he sounds like a serious news anchor - and his unfiltered happiness and enthusiasm for his big love in life; trains. Absolutely brilliant! Please don’t change. Remain quirky and happy!
Same. Lifes ups and downs over the years has knocked the joy and laughter out of me. These videos are a reminder of how I used to be over simple interests and experiences.
I just adore this young man .I can't wait to see his next video's. So wonderful to see a person so dedicated to something he loves . What a beautiful smile he has . Keep them coming Francis.xx❤
Me too, he is like a big kid at heart. Serious about trains but so very jovial about them. That grin of his makes my cup of tea. He made me start to learn about trains too.
i was a Train Spotter in my Early days his Excitement is Brilliant the Blue and Yellow BR was my Era for train Spotting as well But i did keep a lower Profile on the Platform i do like his Excitement it’s Great 👍
I’m not a train nut but have always loved the sound of the old diesels, your obvious joy of this is infectious and the video very professional, you had better keep that camera woman happy. I thoroughly enjoyed it thank you.
Hello Francis and greetings from Poland I've now watched many of your wonderful videos and shorts and are thougherly hooked! Your enthusiasm and passion for trains is infectious. Its can't recall ever meeting anybody quite like you before. Thanks for bringing back the young man who was one crazy about steam trains in the 50s and 60s. Thanks for this video- very impressive and thank you to Amy for her help with the filming and her patience!

My father was a Steam Train driver and later retrained for diesel. He used to drive the Iron ore train from Newport dock to Ebbw Vale steel works. He would stop at a quiet location and I used to jump aboard. It was a fantastic experience and do doubt he would have been reprimanded if he had been caught. The days of steam were fantastic and I bet Francis would have loved that period. I recall going to Ebbw Junction when I was very young and seeing all these steam trains being fired up.
Francis is a delight to watch and hear. He has picked up beautifully on the way it is the SOUND that has captivated the newer enthusiasts. Oh how I wish he and his wonderful girlfriend had been around in the early days of diesels! Still, more success to you both and thank you
I am so glad this popped up in my feed. You young man have brought a smile to my face. You have given an old geezer in his 60s a little faith in your generation. You are a snappy dresser too. All power to your elbow.
Hahaha the pure joy on your face is fantastic, love it , I hope you treat your girl to days out doing stuff she loves. Never drove 50's, but drove Valenta HST's since 2003 until MTU , now IET class 800. Miss the HST's. Keep up the good work
Bloody hell Francis, your girlfriend is super committed to be chasing after you all day while you chase diesels. She's definitely a keeper! And yes, she definitely should've press the help point! haha

Fascinating pursuit! This is the first time I've found your channel as I just watched the trip all the way up to Thurso on BBC tonight. I think you would have gone totally bonkers if you had been with me when I was a kid. I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where the Big Boys, the Challengers, and the gas turbines lived. Just for fun, my granddad, a locomotive engineer (driver to you) would take me out to the west end of the Cheyenne yards where the big iron would be spooling up for their assault on Sherman Hill. We'd stand right next to the tracks, as you do in the stations, and just let the incredible sound wash over us. Now, the cinder dicks (railway police) won't let you within 25 feet of the track anywhere outside the stations. Keep up the good work from your new follower.
Glad to experience your enthusiasm! I recall vividly seeing almost all the D400s (class 50) locos thundering up the WCML in the late 1960s, brand new, even saw a few leaving Vulcan Foundry on their very first journeys!
Your passion for the gargantuan grunt of these monstrous diesels is indeed infectious! I’ve always loved them too since I was old enough to ride on them aged about 5 well over 50 years ago now in the heyday of diesel locomotives.😁
Reading through the comments. I am really surprised no one mentioned the golden age of the Fort William sleeper when it still ran out of Glasgow Queen Street with a stock of sleeper cars, seating then 3 mark 1s attached to the front at Q Street! In those days window hanging was still possible! 1 single 37 4xx climbing out of the station from a standing start straight into the tunnel on full throttle to climb that hill……. THAT WAS NOISE! Real proper full on noise but also the smell of the diesel in the confined space of the tunnel! On a passenger service it was without doubt one of the best in the country! Also helped by mk 1 carriages, door windows down, carriage windows fully open! Right behind the engine! No let up through the entirety of that tunnel! That is a special memory for me! There must be someone who remembers the breakfast move! Upper Tyndrum, down to the Little Chef then Lower Tyndrum on the first Oban of the day back into Glasgow. The day trains on the West Highlands never sounded as loud as that first train of the day!
Francis, your enthusiasm is wonderful. These locomotives have always made me want to jump with joy, especially the sound and especially the 50s. I did see and hear them in period, at Paddington, coming up out of Exeter St David’s with a full load on and ripping my eardrums as they tore through Didcot at 100mph. They are so loud it’s hard to believe it was ever normal but the quality of that sound, a massive, what, 200 litre 16 quad turbo is up there with Merlin engines. Keep up the great work!
That is one understanding young lady indeed! She needs a medal! Also featuring amongst the many folks picked up in your video was Tim Shoveller from FL and also a very well known resident of Texas!!
This person is the best because on the class 313 farewell tour and I got talking to him and even got our photo taken. This guy is the best rail spotter in the world 😁
The sight and sound of the "Hoovers" is something you just can never forget. I must have seen them all from Dreadnought' to 'Fearless', as they passed through Andover on the Waterloo-Exeter services Your video brought back such memories. Please keep them coming.
here in devon we used to see who could clear the whole lot the quickest , if you put the time in it really could be down to a month before starting again , 50`s and 47`s literally all day long with the occasional 37 doing clay freight
Not really into trains, except to say that there really is something quite mesmerising about those old diesels thrashing. And your enthusiasm is really infectious! So I’ve just subbed to my first transporting channel! Thank you!
Great video, used to see the 50s double headed at Crewe mid seventies, and then South west late seventies when they were named. Keep enjoying your trains .
Everyone should take huge inspiration from this guy, Everyone should find something they love and devote their lives to it, to find that itch that you can scratch, because life's too short. I love how he has no shame in his passion and how infectious his joy is, when he gets excited we all get excited for him.
Your enthusiasm is infectious! I smile with you all the way through your videos. I'm seventy-four, and I've been watching trains since i was three, and still in a pram. I got my first set of electric trains the Christmas I was four, and have had a life-long and most enjoyable set of hobbies ever since.
Loved it from start to finish, brilliant video and kudos to you and especially your girlfriend filming in that filthy weather! I'm relatively local to Stratford and have spotted all around that line. In 1985 or 86 there was an experimental HST service between Paddington and Stratford; I was doing my nurse training in Warwick at the time and used to go and watch it screaming up Hatton Bank! Brilliant.
Your a star in your own right Francis ,,really enjoyed watching your day out ..37`s , 50`s 47`s 20`s so many great diesels out there ..and subscribed 👌👌👍👍
My favourite loco of all time is the Deltic (class 55). The sound from those engines vibrated through the platform and into your chest. Even the drivers need eardefenders, they literally are deafening.
I am addicted to this channel. Francis your enthusiasm is infectious. So much so, I am currently reading your book and out train spotting later, it is such fun.
Thank you so much! You've really brought my heart to so much joy!! Not only did you get some marvelous shots of the class 56, but my eyes watered when i got to see Elton John at 12:05! Thank you so much for making my entire day!
I love your joyful energy and enthusiasm. It’s so needed at this time of national trial and misery. Great to take a break from it all and watch you chasing trains.
Good video Francis I love all class 37s/50s/56s/ they take me back to being a kid spotting in the 1980 at Wakefield West gate/Doncaster/Bescot/Manchester Victoria/piccadilly!!!
Love it. Reminds me when I was young chasing steam. From my bedroom we could hear the whistle as loco left station, and we would run out to a footbridge at the end of our road and stand on top to get engulfed in smoke where it was still pulling hard. Great days they were.
I lived in Banbury in the 1980's so Class 50's to New St. were very common, managed 30 class haulages... great times. So sad 56081 can't be saved as it is.
Love your enthusiasm for trains, reminds me of my younger days. I really loved big blue diesels of the eighties! Class 40 "Whistler's", 50's and of course the class 55 deltics. English Electrics are the best!!
Hi Francis and Amy, usual great footage captured within mad-cap car/train chases, I bet some of the Drivers wonder how you can appear to be everywhere at once...😁 Well done... Jon B.
It’s so refreshing to see someone so genuinely passionate about their hobby and your dedication is commendable what with the early starts, chasing trains around and of course, the expense. 🚞👍
I have a model Deltic in my kitchen, like a regular grandma. Reminds me of when I was a child in the sixties and my brother and I used to stand by the bridge at Enfield Lock station for the thrill of these monsters passing just a few feet away. Scary but thrilling!
I used to go to West Ealing in the mid eighties, the 50’s were still all running in service, also had the 47’s and HST’s, remember the DMU’s coming in from the Greenford branch as well as coming and going from Reading. Happy days they were, keep up the good content
Follow your passion that’s what Francis is about so much more rewarding than financial matters.
Same here, and it sucks that they have developed aggression, a new way to speak and addiction to social media. End of an era honestly, and it's not just social media, but everywhere else in the world. Two wars happening, economic crisis especially, etc.
That what I said, most subs aren't into train. Just the Internet is so toxic atm this is pure blue sky sunshine.
What a cheerful happy lad. A pleasure to have discovered him. In this weird world, he’s a tonic!
imagine the train driver seeing the same guy at EVERY stop ...going like: "Wait a minute ... am i tripping??"
The best is the contrast between this awesome guy’s voice/accent - he sounds like a serious news anchor - and his unfiltered happiness and enthusiasm for his big love in life; trains. Absolutely brilliant! Please don’t change. Remain quirky and happy!
I’ve had so much of my enthusiasm for life knocked out of me …so to see these videos just lifts me with hope and joy
Chin up.
Same. Lifes ups and downs over the years has knocked the joy and laughter out of me. These videos are a reminder of how I used to be over simple interests and experiences.
I love you so much. Your smile made my dsy. I came here to subscribe and let you know that I love your content
Found you on Reddit. Love to see your passion for these trains. Hope to learn more!
Yeah same
I wished I loved anything the way Francis loves his trains....❤
The world would be a far better place if more people were this enthusiastic and happy about something/anything. Fantastic.
I just adore this young man .I can't wait to see his next video's.
So wonderful to see a person so dedicated to something he loves .
What a beautiful smile he has .
Keep them coming Francis.xx❤

Not had a model railway in over 30 years but your love could change that I love the 37s and 50 great vid.
It’s a wonder history channel or national geographic don’t give u a TV show. Good voice and presentation and passion for trains!!!
BBC's Travel program just aired here (US) tonight, with his journey all the way north to Thurso.
I agree
Very nice video ❤love from India 🇮🇳 Best wishes 🎉
I’m not a train enthusiast but I watched your beautifully narrated video with great interest . Your enthusiasm is infectious. Well done fella 👍
What a nice lad great to see him so happy he puts a smile on my face watching his posts
I remember as a boy in the 70's seeing these roaring in and out of Blackpool north.
I'm always smiling when watching your videos thanks mate
I can finally see what you see in the thunderous sounds of those locos. 😊
You have to be happy for him. So excited.
Francis, your enthusiasm is wonderful. These locomotives have always made me want to jump with joy, especially the sound and especially the 50s. Trains and cats. Doesn’t get better than that!
Keep up the brilliant videos.
😁 Chris.
Francis, I love your videos and your infectious enthusiasm. So enjoyable and entertaining. Keep it up. 😊

Side order of fluffy mouse 😂 priceless
That is a lot of miles for a few seconds of eyeballing and wonderful engine sounds. Very keen and full of enthusiasm well done to you both.

Great vid of 56098 and 56081, I recently saw 37418 in its New Loram Livery with A saloon coach:)

I've sat between the twin engines making recordings (up to 90mph). Ear defenders on, of course :)
This guys enthusiasm is infectious.....
Definitely 😊
I am addicted to this channel. Francis your enthusiasm is infectious. So much so, I am currently reading your book and out train spotting later, it is such fun.
Lovely video bringing back some great memories. Hang onto that sweet lady of yours... she is cute. Regards from Oz. Gaz😊
I love trains when watching this man
Francis is a true Gentleman 👍 ❤
Absolutely love your enthusiasm Francis .keep it going
Two lovely catches at the start which are overlooked. The prideolino and class 92 with the sleeper :)
Amazing video
The thrash at 5.44seconds absolutely hellfire ! Great video great chase !
One man and his hobby is great to see
Thank you so much!
Really appreciate the effort needed to get those brilliant photos and video. Best wishes to you both and many thanks.
Great video Francis 👍
You are amazing, the genuine love of Railways is fantastic to see. Thank you 😊
And the love of cats 🐈
Francis your enthusiasm is infectious, the signal lights reflecting on the
rails outside Paddington was superb, well done. Just subscribed...
Good video Francis I love all class 37s/50s/56s/ they take me back to being a kid spotting in the 1980 at Wakefield West gate/Doncaster/Bescot/Manchester Victoria/piccadilly!!!
Wakefield man here !!
Love it. Reminds me when I was young chasing steam. From my bedroom we could hear the whistle as loco left station, and we would run out to a footbridge at the end of our road and stand on top to get engulfed in smoke where it was still pulling hard. Great days they were.
It's nice seeing someone so happy about what they love and not caring what others think ❤ good on you mate
I love trains, but this fellow deserves a medal !
Hi Francis and Amy, usual great footage captured within mad-cap car/train chases, I bet some of the Drivers wonder how you can appear to be everywhere at once...😁
Well done...
Jon B.
That is amazing video of a train you must come to Peterborough one day😊
Great video! Must of been a long day! Thanks for taking us all along 😊
The head moving around on the ,ap is cracking me up! 😂😂😂😂
It’s so refreshing to see someone so genuinely passionate about their hobby and your dedication is commendable what with the early starts, chasing trains around and of course, the expense. 🚞👍
Beautiful video mate!! That loco's got a beautiful turbo , love from India
Outstanding efforts here, your enthusiasm brings a huge smile to my face. More please
Wondering, do the drivers have a Francis spotting association
I have a model Deltic in my kitchen, like a regular grandma. Reminds me of when I was a child in the sixties and my brother and I used to stand by the bridge at Enfield Lock station for the thrill of these monsters passing just a few feet away. Scary but thrilling!
I used to go to West Ealing in the mid eighties, the 50’s were still all running in service, also had the 47’s and HST’s, remember the DMU’s coming in from the Greenford branch as well as coming and going from Reading. Happy days they were, keep up the good content
