  • In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves reviews (and mini-torture tests) the (super-leaked) NEW Smith & Wesson CSX, or "Chief's Special X". Is this just a metal S&W Shield Plus? No - it's also hammer fired. And single action only. And smaller. And lighter. And holds more ammo. You know what, just watched the damned video.

    • @alexanderguzman6235

Sig Sauer would be way better off if they adapted a micro style of the p226 style gun, based around the p365 magazine. Everything about the p938 would have to be redesigned to make it doublestack since it's so freaking thin already.

    • @alexanderguzman6235

@E the p938 is still smaller and thinner than a p365. It shoots better too. And cosinderinf how fast they still move at local gun stores, the p938 is still far from dying.

As someone who prefers the 1911 manual of arms, a gritty 8# trigger with a Glock safety defeats the entire purpose of single action. It's an abomination. S&w has been going down hill since they stopped bluing guns. It's sad to see how far they have sunk.

    • @bannedbycommieyoutube5time920
      @bannedbycommieyoutube5time920 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

@@zdub8438 apparently you didn’t watch the review in regards to the trigger. It was not 8 lbs. He showed it was 5-6 lbs once he had a couple hundred rounds through it, which is acceptable for that particular guns use (concealed carry). It’s all about application. You could probably polish it or go aftermarket (eventually) if you wanted to make it better. The trigger “dingus” is also irrelevant for the guns use. Concealed carry is up close, center mass, fast shooting. It’s not a target gun.
Smith and Wesson still makes some great guns. Accurate, reliable, the finish/treatment they use on the M&P series is fantastic from a durability perspective, good ergonomics, so your shrill reaction to this gun is unwarranted.
We are in agreement though that old school Smith and Wesson firearms are the best from a materials used, beauty, and craftsmanship (example - old smith and Wesson blued revolvers, 5900 series, etc). Frankly, if we could go back in time I’d love it. However, to not recognize the pros of the new stuff and calling it junk is being very closed minded, particularly for carry guns that are exponentially better now from a size, weight, caliber, and reliability perspective.

@@jayzenitram9621 whats the point of having an external hammer? Mainly that appendix is a super popular carry position but regardless of carry spot you can ride the hammer while reholstering and make it impossible for the gun to go off even if there is pressure on the trigger. Not to mention that some people just prefer the DA/SA trigger, you need intent for the first pull and every pull after is generally lighter than a striker fired gun with a better break.
There are other reasons like when the hammer is cocked its generally easier to rack the slide for those who are older or have lesser hand strength.

You don’t need night-sights because you should be point shooting in that situation NOT aiming with sights. Especially if in low light or darkness. You’d be blinded by the muzzle flash. It’s very accurate, fits my hand, medium size, very well. I’ve even seen a guy with large hands shoot it no problem. No trigger issue for anyone who knows how to shoot. There’s 12 rounds in the mag so expect it to be a little tight. Love the 1911 style safety. If it was good enough for John Browning it’s good enough for me. I was never comfortable cocked and locked striker fire but this hammer fired external safety I have complete confidence in. Great review James as always. Slide/Hammer bite are a major concern for me. Single action hammer fired pistols must have an extended grip safety or I bleed. I'll stick with the Shield 9mm and Sig P365. If S&W would like to make me happy They'd re-introduce the 3913,my favorite 9mm pistol.

I'd have really preferred it to be DA/SA with a decocker rather than SA only. I'd rather not expose the hammer / firing pin interface to debris when carrying. And I'm of the opinion that all modern carry pistols should be carried in an equivalent of Condition 0, rather than the Condition 1 that the CSX was unfortunately designed for.

As I look at this gun it seems to me as they pieced together the slide from the SD9 and redesigned the bottom from the shield plus. It's a good marketing strategy to use the SD9 slide as its design offers great grip with the front and rear serrations while keeping it appealing and minimalistic. The grip angle has been one of the high selling points of the M&P line.

Yep sticking with my shield 1.0-night sights, 10 rd mag (hyve) with apex trigger and barrel upgrade (tru precision) for carry. Always nice to have more carry options though! Personally Looking at Springfield’s xdm elite compact with hex red dot for my next carry piece.

If it shoots anything like the P938, I think it'll be a great gun. I love the idea of a slim gun with a low bore axis. They shoot comfortably and the capacity would finally make me consider it over other carry options. Night sights would be good though.

I'm very curious what the CSX becomes after it goes through the same product evolution as the Shield. A 2.0 version, CORE treatment, a slightly longer slide, higher capacity version, etc. And I don't see any way they offer a sub-five pound trigger from the factory on a carry gun.

I'd like to see this design upsized... Like I understand I am essentially asking for more 1911 variants but I honestly would just like to see what S&W could do if they wanted to put a double stack single action only that isn't a super expensive triarc or nighthawk custom. Want 10mm too.

Great Review. I have been to the range with my new CSX. Agree, the false reset isn’t a issue when shooting. My CSX trigger is getting lighter but it still too heavy for me. Would love for someone to review the CSX with the XS DXT2 Big Dot night sights. I think even after a year they are the only replacement night sights for the proprietary CSX rear sight.

Nice already seen some pre mature jerk offs release to soon and call the gun heavy. I mean it weighs less than the polymer shield and holds more ammo what's heavy about it. Nice video. You can definitely tell professional gun reviews vs amateur.
