He wanted an extremely small, concealable pistol that gave you more shots than a double-barreled derringer, such as the Remington. He also wanted utter reliability, which is why he designed the case semi-rimless and decided against chambering his new gun in .22 rimfire. The little lead bullets went halfway or flush into the wood. Skeeter felt that the Remington derringer was more of a distraction than a threat to life, though brandishing it might scare an aggressor into retreat. I fired a small .25 ACP with full metal jacket bullets into the side of an abandoned dryer at a local gravel pit. Then I fired .22 Long Rifle bullets from a 6" revolver against the same painted steel. The 1928 Sauer & Sohn .25 ACP was surprisingly accurate at 20 feet, putting 6 shots into a 4" circle at 20 feet, from a benchrest. Its 50 gr. bullets made a significantly deeper dent than the High Velocity (1,200 to 1,250 fps) rouind nose bullets of the .22 LR. Browning sought a reliable pistol that would fit into a vest pocket, provide at least 6 shots, that could duplicate or better the .22 LR ballistics of the early 20th century, in which it was invented. This is legendary. I've been watching Hickok literally since he posted his first video 7 or 8 years ago. Epic. Wasn't expecting this! Been watching you too both channels since day one.
Hickok is like that uncle or grandpa that has a huge plot of land and knows just about everything you could ask. Also has enough guns to arm the entirety of the civilians of that state.
It's not so much about just checking the gun is clear, but also seeing how the slide moves, if it gets stuck anywhere after a few slides, etc., I would assume.
