- Yep, you saw the title. We're gonna be running latest versions of software on Windows Vista, including the latest version of Firefox, Google Earth, Whatsapp, and other close to recent versions of software. Surprised? Yeah, I'm lost for words.

When you realize that Vista is 14 years old... Time flies... I still remember the release of Vista and everyone hated it.
I remember getting my first big tax return the year Vista came out. I burned it all at that time building a new bleeding edge computer at that time in order for it to run well. It ran great and it ran even better after the 2 service packs came out.
Yeah everybody liked seven but guess who released the most popular windows 7 features Vista areo user account control gadgets later discontinued and directx 9

I was in college when vista came out, I bought a laptop with vista on it from Currys it was a Acer laptop, my college had windows XP, I took the laptop into college and even the teachers were like dam Ur the only one with vista as everyone has xp devices and the teachers were playing with my laptop hahaha
My first laptop come with windows vista and I use it for 5 years. I love windows vista, it has it's own charm.
Very cool to see Vista getting utilized in the modern age of Windows. Despite Vista's negative reputation, I actually loved it's organic look, realistic icons and 3D interface especially Aero. As long as you run it on decent hardware, it's quite a good experience.
Actually now we got to the point where chromium 88 launches on Vista. Unbelievable! Fall guys for example or rocket league is also working. I love it!

I am so glad to see that people are finding ways to keep the older operating systems alive. When Windows 7 will lose all support, I hope people will put as much care into keeping it alive.

@@Andersstuff That's cool man. I found that the best laptops for Win7 are the Lenovo Thinkpads and maybe even the Sony Vaios. But I am glad to hear that you used it for at least that long. Any plans to switch back? Repair the old laptop or get a another Win7 one?

0:33 Something a lot of people don't seem to know, Windows 10 in the DOS Prompt (Yes, It still runs) identifies itself as NT 6.2. NT 10.0 is just the marketed NT version. Internal, It's still NT 6 and they are pretending 8.1 just never happened

The future is so bright, what this means is that eventually when software stops supporting Windows 7 something similar to this can happen to it and allow you to run all the newest versions as if nothing happened, what a timeline!
it might end after windows 8.1 stops support, because it had nt 6.3
@GoTi4No windows 10 used newer of NT kernel through, so it's might caused a problem but however, Microsoft atleast backported DirectX 12 to 7 in 2019 update.
Also aswell the KB2999226 update was created so user can run some Windows 10 apps (as long it's not UWP or has a different coding way).
Sadly, after programs stop supporting windows 7, they will probably drop windows 8.1 as well, leaving them maybe to be compatible with windows 10 or 11 in the future

@@justj7304 Well, mind you that Windows 10 gets constant updates, a lot different than what it was in 2015, so it's more likely the NT kernel changes throughout the updates, so most likely 10 isn't the last NT version of Windows (hopefully not)

Try replacing the Image source DL file in Win 7, with the DL file in 10 and add to dl.old

@@xpmyt341 there's the rub, hardware *isn't* supporting it. Ivy Bridge was the last Intel generation to support Vista, and while Ryzen does support it, that's only been tested up to Summit Ridge. On the video card side, your options are a GTX 980 or an RX 300. Both are still unobtainium to me so I'm not scoffing at it, but the point is that there's a finite and shrinking pool of compatible parts. I say this as a Vista user myself, its days running on bare metal are unfortunately numbered. Maybe someone will make a ReactOS fork that turns it into Vista, which should actually be possible given that the source code for ROS is publicly available.

Vista was my favorite os. I had optimized vlite version of it on my tablet pc but at some time it stopped being supported. Thanks for the video. I will reinstall vista there and try it out.

Also, poor Vista. It had such a bad reputation but was not bad in the end.

It did happen on older version of XP when the Update Root cert is disabled in control panel, user needs to be enable it on control panel and then install the certificate file from kaspersky, after that it's work. This issues may not happen on some updated Windows XP iso

That's because developers know that it's gonna be used for a few years after EOL. Makes sense why Chrome 100 can run on WIndows 7.

You know what's more impressive? In 2020 I installed a somewhat modern version of Opera on Windows XP and it allowed me to perfectly access modern websites like TH-cam on Windows XP in 2020. Windows XP is way better than Windows Vista in my opinion.
@@iamethanmiller I was able to get TH-cam running on a Windows 2000 Compaq EVO using the Windows 2000 Extended Kernel and running MyPal on it, make sure everything is updated obviously. There’s more accurate instructions somewhere on Google, I can’t remember where I got it from

Some old hardware simply wont run on whatever the latest windows 10, and some people (like me) dont like to trash that old pc (sure, u can upgrade but laptops for example are pretty hard to upgrade)

@@michaelselui6998 Well, tell that to the people that are running Windows 7 still. Why use Windows 7? Windows 7 PC´s run Windows 10 just fine, as they share the same System Requirements. Altough it might be a tick slower running Windows 10.
Also don´t tell me about hacking Windows 7 to get updates until 2023. Why illegally hack Windows? Why go to jail? Why won´t you just upgrade?

Maybe its too early for this question, but it is possible to develop extended kernel for Windows 7 to run W10 apps? This could be a step ahead for me because more and more developers leaving W7 away, but I dont want to go into W10.

At present, I still think that vista design is more modern than 8/8.1/10 although the latter 3 windows adopted a so called "modern" design.

@@cannedbeverage7687 No one complained about Windows 95. Now people are complaining about today's design. WIndows, 1.0-98 had the most basic design that some 3 year old could probably make it by accident.
@@hmwndp The difference is that hardware back then was less powerful, so obviously they would've went for simple designs, things like Aero were not possible with 90s consumer hardware. Nowadays most hardware can support beautiful fancy effects, but they choose to make "simple" effects, which are super bloated anyway, so why not go all out and make it all shiny and detailed?
I wonder if more modern games could run on Vista now, it does support DX11 after all.

virtualbox supports nt6.0 so u can basically run anything on winVista if u really like it, but then it wont be win vista anymore, unless you try to mod it in some way that an application from start opens it in virtualbox inside of a tab, without booting the entire guest os, qubes os has an implementation but that's intel xen with linux and windows 7, idk if its possible on windows vista
