You can't disagree with the fact that Windows Vista was the best version of Windows aesthetically. I currently have an extra PC with Vista for some older games, it's a Dell Precision T3400 with a Core 2 Duo E6800 and a GTX 750 TI I bought on eBay. Watching you play Minecraft on that brought back some memories of using my sister's old Dell Inspiron 531 from 2007 with an AMD Athlon 64 3800+, 2GB RAM, and I believe some Nvidia 7000 series card with 512MB of VRAM. I used that computer from release 1.4 to 1.7 to play and got pretty much 30 FPS at best, 15-20 usually, and lots of lag spikes to like 1 FPS.
I never had any issues with Vista, like 10 years ago I remember I could run every game on it easily, fallout 3/nv, Crysis was running quite well on medium/high and 720p
As someone who started out on windows 8 on my first computer, i am proud to see these things hold up. (Yes I do have a MSI gaming laptop and I get max 87 fps on some games) What I am saying is that these old systems have hold up REALLY well.
I can tell you exactly why the PC had a low fps in CS:GO even with the 750 Ti. Cause the game has gotten so bloated with updates and stuff lately, that pretty much any dual core CPU without hyper threading is going to suffer. it does not like anything less than 4 cores or 4 threads anymore.
I'm glad to see someone making a video on the subject, i'm a big fan. Loved to see Vista in 1440p :-) Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 is an excellent OS, and it's my main OS today, i wouldn't replace it by 7 or 10 even if someone gave me a license for free. I already became an expert in Windows Vista (every component you have to install in order to run the newest software Vista can run, patches, hotfixes, tips, settings, useful tools, etc.). Some advices: 1-The newest NVIDIA GPU series that have drivers for Vista is the GTX 900 series (and the Titan X), and the last Intel platform that has drivers for Vista is socket 2011 (X79), that is the best hardware Vista can be used on. GTX 1000 series and Intel 2011-V3 (X99) only have drivers for Windows 7 and newer. I don't know about AMD, though. 2-The web browser i use on Vista today is Maxthon Browser, it's very good and is an updated browser that still supports Vista (the last version of Chrome that works on Vista is from 2016, still works OK, but doesn't support the latest features of some websites). - If you're using an SSD: 3-Since Vista acknowledge SSDs exactly as HDDs, you should disable the automatic disk defragmentation for the SSD on Disk Defragmenter. 4-Vista doesn't support TRIM out of the box, but you can install 3rd-party SSD optimization tools to perform the TRIM optimization, keeping the SSD at peak performance (i use SSD Tweaker Pro). Pretty sure the cable you used might have been the issue with the 144hz feature. That is if you used some random HDMI, or maybe it was actually the modern HDMI but the 750 ti's port wasn't modern enough? Idk, I think a displayport cable would fix it.
My favorite laptop that I'm using now is a Dell Precision m6400 laptop which actually still has Windows 7 professional. It seems like Dell's most powerful and expensive laptop from 2008. Mine has a Core 2 Quad QX9300 cpu with 12 gb ram and a 1 gb AMD Firepro m7740 and a 1920 by 1200 display.
@@MCJonCRLKLLR lol, actually, I don't think you have to upgrade your PC as often as you used to have to back in the 90s and early 2000s. Another smaller laptop that I have, a Dell Precision m4300 from 2007 with a Core 2 Duo CPU runs the 2019 version of Windows 10 just fine at least for general tasks like web browsing, office work, 720 p TH-cam playback, and even some light gaming.
3:39 I see. The monitor driver could factor in the inability to push the pc itself to 144 hz, but I agree that the pc the video shows wouldn’t be capable of 144 hz
My first computer was a core 2 duo windows vista laptop. Minecraft and those older tycoon or sim games ran well enough. But yeah, windows 7 is my favorite probably cuz it’s like vista but newer and works much better.
The reason for not being able to fully utilize the hz is probably because the gpu only supports 1080p and below at 120hz, and not 1440p at 120hz (or the hdmi cable, too)
I do think the best way to get out of a gaming addiction is to only have Windows Vista installed in your computers. It's basically having massive parental controls on it.
During windows vista era I was just playing HP games from WildTangent tbh, polar bowler, desert strike, and others I can’t remember. Oh and GTA sa, I still remember installing like 4 HD car mods on the windows vista pc and everytime one of the cars spawned you could hear the fans go full VRRRRRRT

I really dislike the look of windows from windows 8 on, it just isn’t eye appealing at all and feels very “dull” to the past versions of windows. Even Windows XP, looks more elegant than 11 to me. I understand there trying to modernizing UI’s all around with this flat look, but I really really dislike it. It just feels so bland

Windows 7:A Good Reason To Have 6 Computers In Your Closet Windows 8/8.1:bad Windows 10:Nahh Ill Just Not Work.
The reason why you couldn’t use anything past 60 hz was because your GPU model doesn’t have a DisplayPort cable. (Some 750 Ti models do, like the one from EVGA)
The reason your Monitor possibly wasnt running at 144hz could be because the HDMI version on the card does not support 144hz over HDMI. My guess, but this has happened before and it does indeed have to do with the HDMI port versions that cards come with.
I grew up on Windows Vista and had used it for some time. A few years ago my dad agreed to get a new pc running Windows 10 and I was happy! Since a lot of things didn't work and or were slow on it so it was not a great experience.
I ran Minecraft 1.11.2 on WIndows 2000 with 4gb of ram, Pent 4, Int Graphics and it worked without lags. IDK whats ur issue. Also to install the latest version use "TLauncher" not the MC Launher.
broski i have a laptop that runs on vista that we've had since 2007. Until this year it hadn't been used since 2011. Its on a Dell Inspiron 1720, and it takes a minute for it to entirely work at a normal speed and for everything to load. I tried to open Purble Place which was a game already installed on it, and the system entirely froze. vista didnt crash, but it froze, so i ran down the battery on it to be able to use it. Your computer is probably easier to run on because 1) You just recently put vista on 2) it has msi computer parts, and msi computers/parts run REALLY well with everything. we have msi's for e sports that run on windows 10
Just a quick PSA if you are getting error 0x7E on installing try put your ram below 3 gigs than update to sp2 it fixed it for me and plus if you have a issue with a gtx 1060 there is a older Nivda experience that will work. These are just some fixes for problems I had.
Just was installing drivers for my old machine for the gt520 and it was taking forever , so i turned it off , the drive is from 2006 80gb and has ran on power 5 years or so , used to run windows 7 for few years , now going back to windows xp sp3 since vista wasn't nessacary for older games with a gt210 and 1gb of ram..

*MINECRAFT* 6:27 para os Brasileiros que queriam saber se dá pra jogar Minecraft tá aí, é só aperta no minuto do vídeo azul: 6:27
9:49 Okay,u got me
Nice video editing btw! I like your channel. :)
I had a hp pavilion with a q8200 and 9500gs with vista and absolutely loved it for many years.
Shawn Burton I have a Dell latitude win 7, and it's very show but I'm too lazy to upgrade
@@MCJonCRLKLLR If you update it's just gonna get slower
Does the Nvidia control panel work in Vista? If so, you can change your refresh rate in 'change resolution' depending on the graphics driver.
The hardware isn't capable doin it.
3:39 I see. The monitor driver could factor in the inability to push the pc itself to 144 hz, but I agree that the pc the video shows wouldn’t be capable of 144 hz
have to tried right clicking a install in compatibility mode?
5:03 This is a problem with Windows XP as well, I had to do that with it too
How did you get steam because it says for me that my operating system is not supported by steam anymore?
Windows Vista and 7 are my favourite OS!
you arent worried about COPPA at all man, your brave
What overlay program are you using to show fps, etc?
He's using msi after burner
This is still better than my main pc in 2020 😭
Intel Core 2 Duo e6650 2.33ghz
2gb ram ddr2
Q35 Express family chipset (GMA 3100)
256 HARD DRIVE
CD DRIVE
I feel as though the older windows versions have so many little details and unique qualities that showed the hard work and dedication to the version. Yes, there are some flaws are here, but overall it was enjoyable
Windows Vista had the Game Explorer. Such a cool and rich concept.
Now try gaming with Windows 8.1
Rocket actually will work if you install the extended kernel patch for Windows vista
Love the channel bro def my fav youtuber. So glad i stumbled upon your content🤙
2:25 DX10, right? I though XP was DX9, Vista was DX10, 7 was DX11, and 10 was DX12?
Windows 95:Making Stuff Good
Windows 98:Also Making Stuff Good
Windows 2000:Makes Stuf Better
Windows ME:Cant Even Handle Minecraft
Windows XP:big big legend
Windows vista:good but sorta a failure.
Windows 7:A Good Reason To Have 6 Computers In Your Closet
Windows 8/8.1:bad
Windows 10:Nahh Ill Just Not Work.
You are failure
What's your download link for windows vista
Used vista myself from 07-12 and didn't have really any problems. Guess I got lucky.
The reason why you couldn’t use anything past 60 hz was because your GPU model doesn’t have a DisplayPort cable. (Some 750 Ti models do, like the one from EVGA)
R.I.P Windows Vista 2007-2017
The reason your Monitor possibly wasnt running at 144hz could be because the HDMI version on the card does not support 144hz over HDMI. My guess, but this has happened before and it does indeed have to do with the HDMI port versions that cards come with.
Great video!
I used to game on Vista... Miss those days...
In 2007 there was 30" 16:10 2560x1600 monitors :P For example HP LP3065 and Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP
I grew up on Windows Vista and had used it for some time. A few years ago my dad agreed to get a new pc running Windows 10 and I was happy! Since a lot of things didn't work and or were slow on it so it was not a great experience.
I do remember that my favorite AAA that I played on Vista was Stalker shadow of Chernobyl and Oblivion.
I played GTA 5 and Fallout 4 on Windows Vista in 2016. It was fine and smooth.
I never forget you, vista):😭
I think its the best looking version of windows to be honest
A core 2 quad would have probably helped with the frame times a bit.
who needs new games when you got nostalgia
Windows Vista - 2000 points
Windows Technology - 1500 points
Windows 2000 - 1000 points
Windows Vienna - 500 points
Windows XP - 0 points
2021 almost 2022, im still using Window vista Home premium.
I remember when i play Minecraft beta 1.5 on this system... Nostalgia
If you left your Windows Vista PC on, There would be Bubbles on the screen, and to me, that felt so Nostalgia
the bubbles are still available on win 10 :)
Just a quick PSA if you are getting error 0x7E on installing try put your ram below 3 gigs than update to sp2 it fixed it for me and plus if you have a issue with a gtx 1060 there is a older Nivda experience that will work. These are just some fixes for problems I had.
beautiful Canucks hat my man!
You definitely installed the wrong drivers. I have a much worse gpu and was able to play all these games at 240/100 FPS. Fnf now runs at 700 FPS lmao
Why people complained about Vista was that they used it with way too underpowered PCs. With a dual-core and at least 2GB RAM, it ran without problems.
Just was installing drivers for my old machine for the gt520 and it was taking forever , so i turned it off ,
the drive is from 2006 80gb and has ran on power 5 years or so , used to run windows 7 for few years , now going back to windows xp sp3 since vista wasn't nessacary for older games with a gt210 and 1gb of ram..
