The transparency effect on windows 10 v1507 was available until v1809 as I remember. It was changed in v1903 when they announced the light theme for the taskbar and other menus.
What was a little frustrating is because of the VM graphics limitations you can’t see the full effect of the Fluent Design system, 2015 was using Modern Design (Basically a more toned down Metro UI). Fluent is super cool, you hover over stuff and it “floats”! Stuff also pops a bit more. A lot of the changes seen here are reflective of the work by Microsoft’s Design team. The annoying thing is a lot of people are like “Where is Fluent?”. Something like this makes Microsofts efforts at improving Windows’ UI more apparent.

Having you noticed on the CRTL + ALT + DELETE screen, the ethernet icon is much more smaller in windows 10 version 2004 compared with older versions of windows. The signing in screen is compulsory in Windows 10 1507 but it's not in 2004 and in 2004, the signing in background is blurred like macOS.

I really like this windows 10 build. The wallpaper looks so cool and I think that it's just better and the icons too look more simple and had that blue background which for some reason i loved.
Windows 10 2004 has more prominent blur effects across the UI called Acrylic than 1507. It's part of the new Fluent Design Language, succeeding Metro/Modern and Aero. Sadly the VM only have basic display adapter which disables Arcylic effects.
This video is great and very accurate, except for one thing: you can still enable transparency in the 2020 version of Windows 10, the only difference between the two versions is that on the 2015 version it's enabled by default
Same. The way the search is integrated with the start menu as it should be, and it's even worse on 11. The reason I can think of why they removed it was so the search can "help" you gathering answers on the web using Bing, which for most cases is the opposite

Im using windows 7 with that classic design (gray start etc.) and im waiting till windows 10 will have it. Bcs my pc is low and i cant run that aero or even w10.
@@vita007 No it isn't, because unlike Aero, the basic theme is not hardware accelerated. Aero runs just fine on pretty much any recent graphics hardware (yes, even integrated graphics); there's really never any reason to disable desktop composition (except perhaps for troubleshooting purposes)
I actually like 1507 more. I liked that you were able to use the modern UI and the classic control panel. It made it easy to transition for those of us who were coming from Windows 7/8 and already knew where things where. The modern UI is fine but you have to relearn how to use it in every new version, plus you can only have one window open at time so you can't manage two things at once. The other thing that really bugged me is how the later versions failed to respect user choice. First it was system updates installing without user permission and then it was the pushing of MS accounts and Edge. You can't really use Windows the way you want to anymore without installing workarounds. That used to be something Windows was good at but but is something that even Apple does better now (at least, on a software level).
That’s just what collapsed responsive menus look like in Microsoft’s UX. Most apps with a horizontal navbar will do it. I’d say a better example of inconsistency is file explorer, the run menu and everything else written as a UWP app. Little Waffles is right but really shouldn’t be that abrasive. Explanation > Insults. Check it here: docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/design/controls-and-patterns/navigationview
Joshua Steele I agree with you. Moreover a large portion of win10 still uses UI Fabric instead of the new Fluent Design. And unlike Apple who will change everything right away in a new release, these changes in windows are a lot more gradual. This has both advantages and disadvantages. For instance, when things change slowly, people don’t complain as much.
Revolution of Windows of 2020 include: 1) Formation of "States"(Formed Special Tabs and Bars) 2) New "Flag" was introduced (Wallpaper) 3) New "Oaths" were taken (Sounds) 4) Changed there old "Culture" (Changed Windows 8.1 style to Windows 10) MORE COMING SOON!
Man, I'm so glad I'm not crazy. I kept noticing these small differences, like the Expand button changing sides and the Cortana button becoming a thing, but never really gave it thought. After reinstalling Windows 10, I noticed the wallpaper and... it really just looks like 11 Lite at this point :(
13:27 - "There is no reason"? No, there are a lot of reasons for those small changes! User feedback was used to make things more clear, more user-friendly. That is the whole point of the Windows Insider Program, and the general Feedback app :)
Windows 10 was the only Windows operating system that when his background was modified the visuals were enhanced a lot tnx to the adaptation of light mode
HAL updates/device driver communication changes, SSD optimisations, update delivery changes, closer powershell integration, linux subsystem. Run as, grouped start menu icons, Windows Snipit improved, Battery optimisation changes, power management changes, tighter windows defender integration, requires Antivirus (significantly harder to disable). Xbox Gamebar overlay. Video driver changes and support for DX12a. Change to the audio engine system. Network Stack changes. Native video editor app, HEIC photo support. Granular control over privacy (briefly touched on in this video). Emojis! Loads more features within overlays. Windows Indexer changes windows search engine changes. PIN logins instead of passwords. Auto pilot/MDM and endpoint management. Clipboard history (Win+V). Basically a lot wasn't covered that people dont usually care about but keeps them safe, improves stability/security. There are tons of new features that would take too long to list. I must stress don't be lulled into the romantic nature of newer is better, always stay one version of Windows behind if you want your devices to function and don't want to lose either your documents or access to your computer, every major update there is a major issue.
90% of what you described is not even a feature, mate. "SSD optimizations", "Battery optimization", "power management changes", "xbox gamebar", "tighter windows defender integration", "requires anti virus", "driver communication changes". These are not even features, just small changes, and I dare say that all of them don't change anything for the better. Windows continues to be a sluggish and slow OS that is still vulnerable, resource-inefficient and full of bugs. The search bar is still slow and can't find all files. There is no system-wide dark mode. Uninstalling programs still leaves junk files on your system. Windows still requires disk fragmentation to work properly. You can't disable cortana. You can't customize Windows without third-party applications, and not even them can customize a lot. You can't remove the taskbar. You can't uninstall the Edge browser. You can't update without risking losing your files. Windows still requires a reboot to apply updates. Installing programs is still slow. Uninstalling is even worse. A bunch of crap nobody wants is enabled by default. You can't get rid of adds on the menu. You can't uninstall microsoft cloud drive, and so on.... These are just things I remember now, but there are a bunch more! Sounds like you're trying to save face of microsoft and list a bunch of crap that didn't bring any substantial changes, because windows STILL has all problems that it has always had. As consumers, we want to see practical results, not meaningless words. Microsoft refuses to fix problems that windows has had for YEARS, and instead spends time and resources on things we don't want. Do you even know someone that wants emojis? a native video editor that doesn't have half the features of the adobe suite?? XBOX gamebar??? And that not even considering what you even mean by things like "driver communication changes". Of course they need to update their drivers interface, otherwise they wouldn't support any hardware that launched after 2016. What substantial improvements has "windows indexer changes" brought us? When I use my windows partition, I still see 5-6GB of RAM usage on IDLE, when on my Linux partition I rarely reach 1.5GB of usage. And my hardware is top of the line! R5 3600XT + 16GB RAM 3000MHz The only 2 worthy features that windows has brought us was a more powerful powershell and WSL. And WSL was not even a thing created by Microsoft (it was created by Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu Linux), so microsoft has only brought us ONE meaningful update in 5 years, and it's not even a thing that the regular users want! Compare that to what MacOS and Linux developed in the last 5 years and you'll see why Windows is a sinking ship!
joker345172 you obviously aren't a sysadmin. Try to remember, Windows is aimed at business first and consumers second. I never even said these were all improvements. Heck I even advised people not to upgrade their PC straight away. Windows 1909 compared to Windows 1507 is orders of magnitude better. There is still a long way to go but I'd go as far to say Windows is the best it has ever been.
@@kye3k1 No, I'm not a sysadmin. And I never said I was. I don't see how this is relevant. "Windows 1909 is orders of magnitude better than 1507" man, it's the same thing. The boot times are still slow, the improvements™ that MS says they brought us didn't bring any substantial changes. You can see this by yourself on the video. Ignoring aesthetics, here was NO noticeable difference between the 2015 and 2020 versions. I've been using windows 10 on various devices since it launched on 2015, and I can confidently say that I have NEVER seen a update that improves the user experience Performance has been the same since 2015. Curiously, I also have been running Linux since 2017, and in 3 years of linux I've seen more changes and improvements than in the entire 5 years that I used windows 10. Microsoft doesn't have a clue on how to upgrade their OS, and every windows user know it. We have been dealing with the same problems since the dawn of time, and microsoft still haven't solved any of them. You can drop the act. Windows is the same as it's ever been, and all issues I brought up in the previous reply are things that have existed since the XP and Vista era. And no, windows is not aimed at "businesses first". That is a lie. Windows Server is aimed at businesses, but not windows. And these 2 are completely different products
@@SHRModding bs scare tactics, its perfectly safe to use, as long as its up-to-date and you have a half-decent antivirus. and this is coming from someone who despises windows.
Windows 10 was intended to be the FINAL Microsoft Windows OS. That's why it received so many feature updates. That, of course, obviously didn't happen, what with Windows 11 appearing out of nowhere. I really prefered when Microsoft leaned more into the Windows 8 design, I'm feeling that Windows 11 has _too_ many colors and it makes me uncomfortable looking at them, as I much prefer monochromatic colours to *rainbow amazing modern fade aesthetic*. Also the Windows 19HX wallpaper is really cool to look at because of the high contrast in colors and _shiny_.
when microsoft to ask Windows user sign up for Microsoft Account people complains, but when every Android user forced to have a google accounts nobody cares.
A phone is a different platform and pretty much everything you are going to use is in the Play Store and built around your Google account. Unlike in a PC where you don't need that sheel of a store at all. Actually, you don't actually need a Google account if you don't use Google services. There is an skip button and it doesn't insist unlike W10. You just assumed that because adding your Google account is the first thing that everyone does in their phones.
@@Alcosmos_ i don't think so, everytime i decided to not login into a google account on my android phone, there's always persistent notification shade that told me to login to google account (and can't be disabled). and google don't let me use a play store if i'm not login into google account, which is on Windows side, i still can enjoy downloading apps from Microsoft store without login anything. at this point i think google is more forcing than microsoft. and about in PC we don't need a store, maybe it just me but i think it's not a bad idea. the fact that Steam has it's own store on windows, adobe creative cloud have it's own store, it's pretty messy, why having a single place to update 'em all is a bad idea. i love when adobe keep add more their apps on the microsoft store, and some major software that i use started embracing microsoft store, because it'll make sure i get a updated software everytime
I remember when you went to change the theme in 2015-2016 windows 10, i swear it would bring up control panel (so like the windows 7 theme page in control panel)
Windows 10 appeared weird at the beginning when it was released in 2015 but now it feels like the norm. That is an impression with any operating system when seen from the first time.
Actually, first versions of Windows 10 where Windows 8.1 with a new Interface, if you open the Internet Settings in the lock screen in the first versions of Windows 10, you could see Windows 8.1 Interface, they left it there like 3 or 4 versions
yea, but even with that, the early version of windows 10 can probably feel much faster than the latest version we have now, through its depends on hardware, but however, 8.1 is still faster due to tablet optimization, windows 10 is very close to 8.1 speed as long its was debloated.
Windows XP and XP SP3 have been _very_ different. Windows XP didn't even have an security center and so no firewall. Windows 7 on the other hand was basically just a Vista SP2 with a new design (roughly the same what Windows 11 is to Windows 10) Still, windows 10 is different, yes. But not that much. It hat lot of features updates but its not like the world changed much from 2015 to 2020. KDE, GNOME and Windows all suffer from the same issue, the software is getting more and more perfect and feature complete. There are barely new things to add and change without risking to make it worse. About the second keyboard layout, i always add the german keyboard layout as i have an german keyboard but install an japanese windows version. So even if its rare, i use and need it^^ The reason for more transparency is the lack of supported Drivers. VirtualBox doesn't have working 3D Support so both transparencys you see are off. The reason the expand buttons have been shifted to the left was to reduce the travel way of the mouse. And the no new notification was shifted to the middle because humans tend to look at the middle and center of things. When you open a menu, you first look at the middle and if you see nothing there, you eye strats to travel to look for information and that feels confusing.

Windows 10 2004 has more prominent blur effects across the UI called Acrylic than 1507. It's part of the new Fluent Design Language, succeeding Metro/Modern and Aero. Sadly the VM only have basic display adapter which disables Arcylic effects.

Same. The way the search is integrated with the start menu as it should be, and it's even worse on 11. The reason I can think of why they removed it was so the search can "help" you gathering answers on the web using Bing, which for most cases is the opposite

Version 1507 gives me memories of the old styled windows 10 theme..... i loved it. Not as much as windows 7! (windows 7 was on my first ever laptop)
it gave me clinical depression
I hate windows 10 because it's on my work computer. While my gaming laptop has 11. I associate 10 with work.
18:10 you can still access that personalization tab with some tweaks

8:30 Windows 10 inconsistencies in a nutshell
Its meant to be designed like that dumbass.
Little Waffles Is it really? Why is that? And why is it so obvious that you feel the need to insult him?

R5 3600XT + 16GB RAM 3000MHz
The only 2 worthy features that windows has brought us was a more powerful powershell and WSL.
I've been using windows 10 on various devices since it launched on 2015, and I can confidently say that I have NEVER seen a update that improves the user experience
Performance has been the same since 2015.

Windows 10 evolves
Hello everyone This is your daily dose of Recommendation
Windows 10 appeared weird at the beginning when it was released in 2015 but now it feels like the norm. That is an impression with any operating system when seen from the first time.
When old versions are getting outdated, you kinda have no choice
Like for new cars.
Actually, first versions of Windows 10 where Windows 8.1 with a new Interface, if you open the Internet Settings in the lock screen in the first versions of Windows 10, you could see Windows 8.1 Interface, they left it there like 3 or 4 versions
1507 did in fact feel very incomplete, there were so many duplicate menus between legacy and UWP.
uwp
uwu
UwU
Why are people saying uwu? Universal Windows Program or UWP
yea, but even with that, the early version of windows 10 can probably feel much faster than the latest version we have now, through its depends on hardware, but however, 8.1 is still faster due to tablet optimization, windows 10 is very close to 8.1 speed as long its was debloated.
Windows XP and XP SP3 have been _very_ different. Windows XP didn't even have an security center and so no firewall.
Windows 7 on the other hand was basically just a Vista SP2 with a new design (roughly the same what Windows 11 is to Windows 10)
Still, windows 10 is different, yes.
So even if its rare, i use and need it^^
The reason for more transparency is the lack of supported Drivers.
