  • Han Ni fell for a love scam or pig butchering scam - a mash-up of romance and investment schemes run by Asia-based online scam syndicates. (Are you the victim of a scam or know someone who is? Email us with your story: cnainsider@mediacorp.com.sg)
She reveals how scammers first developed an emotional intimacy by showing concern for her over weeks. They then brainwashed her into investing in a fake platform despite her doubts. They also told her not to tell her loved ones about the platform when instructed to borrow money from them.
“It’s not because I’m too dumb, it’s just because (the scammers) are too good,” said Han Ni.
Scammers often work in teams of four or five just to target one victim. They develop psychologically manipulative conversation scripts tailored to each victim through detailed analysis of the victim’s chat behaviour and social media. By sharing her story, Han Ni hopes to expose their tactics to prevent others from falling for them.

Even earlier, before letting anyone manipulate you emotionally. That's tough because it's difficult to resist psychomanipulation. Learn 'Narcissistic Red Flags', look up Prof. Sam Vaknin (self aware narcissist), Dr. Ramani, Dr. Les Carter, Michelle Lee Nieves, etc. Narcissists have no empathy, manipulate, gaslight, lie constantly, often have charisma, sadistic tendencies, etc. For normal person it's hard to believe someone can be so cruel, cunning, pretend so well to be nice, that 'love bombing' is fake, 'mirroring' is just a ruse.

In person you can get validation form your friends or relatives or co worker to know who the person is. In other words you can see the person in real life.
With a text message is kind difficult to really know who are you talking with.

No doubt Ms Han Ni is courageous enough to sound the bell. I guess, the best words for preventing love and money scams, are still "Don't be gullible, Never be greedy". When you get scammed, a big part is always due to GREED.
      E. G. You go to a supermarket to buy something packed luxuriously and stated as a panacea to a problem of any sort, you buy it on impulse and get home to find out you got scammed. There was no talking and personal coaxing involved. So, the fault is still in the temptation to buy. Because the victim wanted the "goodness" advertised on the packaging, being gillible enough to trust 'what is inside mesures up to what was described outside'. Scams are all about packaging and presentation.

Some people (actually many people) may say that this is "dumb" and this scam is so obvious, but the truth is that we are all different. Some people are more logical and some are more emotional, and the world need both types of people. So it is not your fault that your got scammed.. you just got different strengths and struggles, like all of us. We all make mistakes at different points in our life and we learn from it.

@@Buttercookies0 I think is unfair to make the assumption that my mom did not receive sufficient love from family members. She receives plenty of them but all were not appreciated. She sees all kindness and cares offered to her as gestures with bad motives and intentions. Eventually, people drifts away from her as the relationship were not mutual. Due to the nature of her characters, is difficult for her to find genuine love as everyone eventually leaves her, so she looks for romantic relationships from all the wrong places. As a daughter, I'm in no place to comment on her choices of men and her behaviour. Each time when I try to talk to her sincerely, it always ended up in her condemning me saying I'm being judgemental towards her. I think for me to still provide for her after all the toxicity I've received from her is already an action of love. This man really hit the ground running and hasn't stopped yet. He gives us more understanding of him without interviews and negative antics he just shows us who he is through the Recovery. True living legend.
    We salute you.
Incredible recovery. The execution, creativity, and goodness that came from it were inspiring on a number of levels. Cheers *Apexbureauservice* on the internet & looking forward to seeing what you do next!
