    No, as a cybersecurity expert, while it is one of the safest ways is to air gap the banking and potential malwares by having two separate phones, I don't think a lot of of cybersecurity experts recommend that. That incur extra cost and you have literally one phone sitting around doing nothing except banking stuff and you need to carry two phones, one of them just to paynow people and use tokenised credit cards, the other one to call people which also need two sim cards. If this is the case, might as well just carry cash and credit cards around and pay using the old ways. No, we don't recommend that.
    Instead, the safest ways is to not use sideloading (meaning to install third party apps that is not through the official store). This is not to say that official app stores are invulnerable but reasonably safer. Be vigilant, don't any how install, don't any how click link, if it's too good to be true, it probably is not true.

      I work in IT too. It is all common sense and easy to understand for us IT people. There is little to no solution for many technologically challenged users. Using 2 phones isn't a solution. That actually adds confusion to an already complex issue (to those users). There are no technology solutions to protect the weakest security, gullible humans. That lady sees several hoops (security warnings) but she decides to jump thru those hoops anyway in order to get free stuff. You just can't protect those kind of people except by locking down the device like Apple iPhone. No apps from external/unknown source allowed. Period. There are no workarounds.

      @@Swimfit998 are you talking about games in Google app store or from external source (not from Google app store)?
      Let's put it this way, apps in Google Play store have gone through extensive security checks and scans to ensure they're safe for users. I agree there have been a few instances where Google fails to weed out bad apps in their store but as soon as they find out, malicious apps are removed from their store and the creator gets banned. I'd say it is less risky but no one can guarantee it is 100% safe especially new apps/games that's just been released.

    • @DBE008
      @DBE008 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Swimfit998 Some are safe. Some will not be safe for other reasons, that means some are very intrusive because of the app developer's wanting end user's personal data. Some are not safe as they are malware disguised as legitimate apps. They already make fake websites with different malware.
      Always read some of the reviews, read what some app developers want in exchange for using a free app, and still unsure then do online searches to cross reference with several websites. Free has been a lie for a long time bad marketing.

The suggestion of having 2 mobiles is good but the capital outlay is a concern, plus there will also be situations where mobile users interchangeably use the mobiles i.e. insert important passwords in play mobiles and vice versa. We can’t fall back to having just 2 mobile as the solution. At the end of this, mobile users will need to still be vigilant, a vigilant mindset .

It is something I see on some of my banking apps on android. Although its quite annoying too that some also forces us now to disable Developer Mode prolly as for they say security purposes all the while this is the perk of an android overall, the configurability and customizability.

    there are definitely more security protections that banks can do. That lady from ABS should instead also talk to the banks to step up their measures, not just advising customers to have 2 devices!

    Steve please make a video on scam calls that calls out our name as well. And if there is any effective way to help steer them away. On TH-cam there is a channel that tried roping a group volunteers to waste scammer time and get them to provide the acct number they want us to transfer to get it shut down. Can u try if it works in Singapore. :D

    CNA should bring awareness of the need for an independent hardware security token as 2FA authentication to protect ourselves from such malware.

    Junia is funny. I'm educated too! And sometimes better not be tam jiak! Nowadays, scammers are evolving and engaging, so, don't get into those 'conversations' with them anywhere, online or face to face!
    Lines like "all you have to do" really does put convenience at a whole new level!! I'd rather walk to the nearest convenience store! And pay cash!

    This shows that all banks are too lax on their security, and they are not interested in protecting their customers' money. All banks should be held full accountability for any losses to their customer's funds!!!

      I think you've got great potential to work in the banks for cyber security. Please seriously consider that, and help us guard against the scammers! After all, it is solely the bank's responsibility to protect our money! 100%! How dare they be so lax to OUR money!

    I am actually already have four active phones, one from 3Gseries that receive bank alerts and OTP. And do not use your phones for phone banking please. I am a Computer educator. And QR codes are designed badly and can be changed at will. I escaped from five cases with phone calls. More details if you ask me. Also do not go for free things.
