How A Job Scam Turned Me Into A Scammer. I'm Still Seeking Justice

  • Malaysian Bilce Tan was in a car on the way to what he thought was a business development role in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Then he realised he was a hostage - and was forced to scam people for a living. It was only through a miracle that he managed to escape.
But months after returning to Malaysia, he's found no closure. The ordeal has left him with a broken family, little money, and a law suit hanging over his head. All this because he thought "Malaysians won't cheat Malaysians".
Bilce wants justice, but so far, no investigation has been launched against the Penang company that hired - and tricked - him.
    This is his harrowing story.
00:00 Introduction: Forced to become a scammer in Cambodia
00:34 Finding the job on Job Street and why I thought it was a legitimate job offer
03:02 Realising I was getting scammed, but it was too late

08:51 How scammers get victims to fall for them
10:47 Our actions inside the scam HQ are closely monitored
11:45 Gathering evidence so that I can expose the scam operation
12:21 How calling for help nearly got me killed
15:51 Escaping Cambodia and making police reports
16:47 Back in Malaysia, the threats and harassments continue
18:59 Left with a broken family
19:59 What CNA Insider found when we tried to visit the company that hired Bilce

Dear Bilce, I am deeply sorry for the hardships that you have faced. Please do not give up on exposing those who have caused you harm. I also commend you for your efforts to resist following their instructions to scam people.
As someone who has been personally affected by scammers, I understand that it is not just the financial loss that hurts, but also the traumatic experience that follows. It is frustrating to see that some officials engage in victim-blaming instead of holding the scammers accountable. I applaud your bravery and hope that someday soon, these deceitful individuals will be eradicated. It is crucial that our government makes an extra effort to combat this issue.
Futhermore, I believe that JobStreet should be held responsible for posting job listings that promote such questionable activities. It is unacceptable for them to facilitate this kind of behavior. I hope that they will take steps to prevent this from happening in the future.
Thank you for speaking out. Your courage is inspiring, and I wish you all the best in your efforts to make a positive difference.

Jobstreet is where ppl go to find jobs & lots of ppl put in their job experience & personal data. If there are PDPA shouldn't the govt, manpower ministry & recruitment agency come together to protect its citizen + if scammers are involve to get the police involved rather than everybody "siam" & "bo chap". Citizen are being held hostage at another country.
As police/human trafficking are doing investigation perhaps cannot let the scammer know what has already been done to end their operation & to release the hostages + family member must come forward to report them as missing + trauma counsellor to standby to support, counsel & treat ptsd for victim & family members.

It is very obvious that the person controlling these syndicates is a very powerful man. For all you know he might be a gentleman and philanthropist on the outside or someone powerful in Malaysia since he can make someone’s life hell there. In this scary world, knowledge is king. Equip yourself with it and one man can overthrow an entire organisation. Don’t depend on government agencies which are totally useless and probably in cahoot with these scammers. ATIPSOM or whatnot can all go and fly kite. I salute Bilce and CNA Insider for this documentary and hopefully more people will know of it and do something with regards to human trafficking. We need more people with conscience like Bilce to come forward.

So i guess what happeend is, these scammers are trying to recruit me to be their crony or apprentice for the gang, since my parents already trusted them with all their heart, so it would be easier to control the children of the victims. They would have a lot more ways to control me and others. So theyre doing generational damages to the victims. And i just knew about them last year, at the age of 35. I now suspected all the problems all the people who problematic and kind of like interested in me previously, trying to influence me to be a bad person before, possibly been sent to corrupted me so i would accept crimes in my life, and at the same time, possible to convince my parents that what they wanted to do with me, stalking me etc are necessary to help my parents parenting me, controlling me. My dad always involved with scammers isnce i was a child. its been 30+ years. we never get rich. Life been busy of nothing. So after knew about them stalking me all these while, but i just knew this last year in my mid 30s, the stalking became more obvious, like they wanted to hint me that theyre not afraid. or to intimidate me that they knew a lot of people. so last year,... i could see how many authorities in all various work sector like even the public transport and even police officer, got influenced by them to monitor me.

Be sure to help the Singaporeans because if your govt cannot effectively help you, you can go to Singapore govt for help with the identities of Singaporean victims. If something sounds too good to be true, I never fall for it. When I first started online dating around 2014, I’ve come across many of what this man was doing. At first, I really thought they were real but once they asked me for money, I immediately blocked them. No one can steal a penny from me😂

I heard about this too. So I get my little boy to ask them for robux (it's an kids online game platform and you need real money to change for robux) and waste his time/ it was very entertaining I laughed so much. My boy kept talking to him like and ask him to play Roblox and give him robux. 😂

Everything happened for a reason. Your wife should ashamed of herself. Please don't despair, great revenge is to have them all arrested.

Mainly is because of the quickly downgraded living environment for human beings as earth has been destroyed fast than ever over the past decades, and some ppl still pop more kids than needed with secrets(blant lies) that are not shown to them publicly.
People are being farmed as animals, as they are taught to not think what they are not allowed to think while acting, and simply follow orders from higher social positions.
Makes it a deeply rooted social problem, with lots and lots of secrets hidden behide the major scene.

@@rz9018 The company contacted his wife and obviously threatened her and probably her family too , she is terrified , clearly the police and authorities cant be counted on and who knows what what else they said to her. They could have sent her the video they took of him naked and gotten one of their female employees to tell his wife that they were having an affair for those 3 weeks and that he wasnt being held hostage or being forced to work at all .

Very good documentary, Malaysia media just summarize all those details
Some Malaysian urged to rich quickly therefore 偏門 is definitely to them one way to get rich and without thinking further or impact to others , money come first

His story is so heartbreaking. Firstly, I am so happy for him that he escaped. I hope that he gets the justice he deserves. Hope that all the people still trapped there can escape too. The syndicates that run such scam centers are beyond despicable. Scamming people out of their live savings and trafficking humans to basically work as slaves for them. Where is their conscience and their basic sense of humanity?
