    Many mechanics recommend this ISUZU due to the super reliable engine (sourced from the truck division).

    Yes, it has a lot more features, but I know a lot of people in Australia unwilling to pay out 65k plus - for any car - during these uncertain times. Am sure it will still be a hit, but add bull bar, AT tyres, cargo and racks and you are getting close to 80k.If you get 30k for your old MUX, still 50k to change over. I love the MUX. One of my top 5 fav cars, but not at 65k. While long in the tooth, you can pick up a 2019 plated Triton (new) with mini bull bar and towbar for 40k.

      yes $10K more, I don't see $10K worth of extras, Now it's almost in a price range to compare to Prado.

    Great review, and it is a vehicle for purpose that suits my needs now. I’ve purchased a 2x4 LS-U as best value. Covid times mean just 165k’s around Albury at time of writing but hoping vaccine passports allow towing into SA some time before too much longer. I did all the 4WD driving I needed to as a young man who spent 13 years in PNG. 3.5 tonne towing in comfort is what I want, with a vehicle that’s good in and around town as well. The MU-X appears competent and capable for those needs, is very well built and finished and provides a comfortable ride in well designed seats. The safety additions work better than those I had in my preceding Tiguan R Line.

      Hello , question please how many kilo will the MUX can give per full tank ?

    • @gregturner_awod
      @gregturner_awod 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The fuel tank holds 80 litres. Without tow weight it has a range of 1,000km. It can tow 3.5 tonnes. Less with luggage and other cargo weight loaded. Maybe 600 km range loaded but I don’t know yet.

      @@gregturner_awod wow very good . I was lucky to test the D max 2.5 for days , the fuel tank managed to reach 860 kilo in city ! I was able to make it up to 900 kilo but was concerned not to find a gas station with no diesel option . The diesel cost 0.14 cent USD per litter in KSA which is very cheap . For that reason , many saudis thinking to switch to Diesel engine car because gasoline cost is high comparing to pervious years

    • @gregturner_awod
      @gregturner_awod 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fasrr22 I can understand that, fuel costs rising everywhere. Here in regional Australia distances can be very great if you travel inland and fuel range is important. At speed the Diesel engine runs at low rpm, very unstressed.

      I test drove the new MU-X, and both the 3.2 and 2.0 ltr Everests. I really loved how the MU-X drove, but, the engine noise of the MU-X saw me settle for an Everest. Isuzu needs to do some refinement to the engine to match the refinement and quietness of the modern diesel offerings.

    Im just here to read all the comments about how expensive these are. Has anyone priced a new 7 seater 4x4 lately, seriously people are hung up on them being the basic 4x4 they introduced 8yrs ago, they have changed, we are in the market for a new 4x4 7 seater and these are $12k cheaper than a gxl Prado which is still behind in features and still much cheaper than the others at $63k drive away at the moment.

    Good review Tom but that price hike is ridiculous! Not that I’m looking for a SUV, but my sister is & has an older Prado. I told her to wait for this to come out, but after seeing the price, I said she should look towards the Pajero! In relation to tow capacity, being so called 3,500kg. You then have to deduct payload, as in passengers, luggage & the like from that I believe? This is a lot of would be towers get into trouble pulling far too much weight!

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly right, Andrew, and it’s a point I need to make more clearly in these videos when discussing towing. If you hitch up 3500kg to the new MU-X, your maximum payload is 245kg. Couple of passengers and a couple of bags and then you’re overloaded. Gross combination mass is rated at 5900kg and the vehicle itself weighs 2155kg.

    Have you heard about the major AC problem in Thailand where the back AC blower and tubes would condensation up and would drop water from the ceiling? Isuzu never came out and make a proper statement about it but let the dealers remedy it by taking out the bottom tube and blower cover but without putting on a cover on the blower. I saw it and it was lazy and sloppy fix. Many Thai owners are dissatisfied. Link. บทสรุป มหากาพย์ น้ำแอร์หยดบหลังคาตอนหลังใน ALL NEW ISUZU Mu-X ...

    How do they expect you to tow 3500kg, kerb weight 2175kg +70kg to fill the tank, +tow bar 30kg, two people 150kg, +ball weight 350kg comes to 2745kg, the GVM is 2800kg. This leaves a huge 55kg for your phone and other trinkets. Now look at the GCM of 5900kg, -3500kg leaves 2400kg as the GVM, well you need fuel 70kg, and a driver +75kgand the tow bar +30 with tow ball weight 350kg. Put simply the tow increase is simply and unrealistic advertising stunt as the bare minimum has the GVM at 2650KG.

      @ric ricksen there's a good chance, yes but I would say it depends on the height of the dmax canopy. Most decent ute reviews provide tub measurements and you could probably work out a rough volume for a canopy, but you'd need to find a dealer or someone who owns an mux and ask for the measurements to compare both vehicle sizes. I would say they'd be pretty similar, but as before, not needing to worry about wheel arches means you'd have more width directly behind the first row of passenger seats in the mux than right at the back of a dmax tub.

How many cupholders you get in an Everest vs Fortuner , but something that says if you're doing heavy towing vehicle A is better, if you're looking for comfortable all rounder go for vehicle B and if you want to do more off-road tracks then vehicle C may be the better choice. Would also like to know the dealer network and customer support reputation of izuzu. E.g. Still needs more grunt. 70 kW/t is still pretty lame. Why are all the offerings in this class underpowered?
    Need to flog the guts out of it to get anywhere and the fuel economy plummets.
    Don't understand the 4x2 option at all. Just get a proper car if 4x4 isn't a requirement.

      For rough tracks the most import thing is ground clearance then engine power and or low gears and last last of all, 4wd.

    • @Bagnerdpak
      @Bagnerdpak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      some people buy the 4x2 option for ground clearance. The engine power can be tuned up with a chip, the reason why it is underpowered in this configuration is durability and emission concern. Realistically this engine can output 550 nm without too much problem, and given the power output is torque x rpm, then the power output will also increase.
