    Its always easy to say it’s light years ahead of the last model and we should be impressed. But you nailed it at the end. We are the ones who have to stump up 65k before any cargo/wheel/storage mods and suddenly, 80k later! I do agree its amazing upgrade. However, they have also widened the gap between the budget Chinese offerings and this very crowded field. While I’m sure there are many critics, I drove a friends Canon X and through more a comparison to the Isuzu Ute, it was 40k drive away with towbar. I was waiting for this upgrade and though impressive, 65k driveaway is crazy money.

    While I don't personally think it's worth the extra money, I can understand why they are charging so much more, they've really turned the MU-X into a really capable and good to drive ute, not to mention the 3.5T towing. Something tells me the towing capacity is part of the large price!

  • @retepd1e

    Same engine as Holden 1988 with some little update but its basically the same. 3.5T towing that leaves you with 245kg payload. Regular reported cracks of the guard in the engine bay. Is it still worth it? Hardly.

      Depends if you want the car for the long run or going to trade in before warranty. The 4jj3 is one of the most reliable i4 diesels on the market. Theres a reason isuzu have always run the 4J in both utes and their trucks and why they have a lot of respect in the diesel scene

  • @Daniel-vl8mx
    @Daniel-vl8mx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Thank you for this review. I am in the market for a 4x4 in this price range, and you have convinced me that this is definitely not the one for me. Rear hatch too low, cargo area lacks height, can't run in 4wd on high traction surfaces (like wet bitumen), electronic handbrake, and then you look at the fact that it is ridiculously overpriced. Firm no.

    • @jasonswift7098
      @jasonswift7098 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You won't get a MU-X lsm, lsu or last 4x4 ANYWHERE in Australia until January 2022 if not February 2022 they are sold out

    • @jasonswift7098
      @jasonswift7098 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You have no clue daniel, the hatch is not low I'm 6'3" and fit under it, cargo area height is fine, and you don't run 4H on bitumen roads as it will chew out the diffs and there is nothing wrong with an electronic park brake, Pricing is on point for the features it has, lot cheaper than an everest, prado and all the others.

    • @Daniel-vl8mx
      @Daniel-vl8mx 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jasonswift7098 That is a rather defensive and aggressive sort of comment. The hatch may be high enough for you, but have a look at 4:30 on the video - and you don't know how tall I am either. "Cargo area height is fine" - again, it may suit you, but you have no idea how much space I want. As for your downright silly comment about running 4H on bitumen roads, if you are chewing out anything then that proves my point - when you have a centre diff you don't chew out anything, you wally. I have driven vehicles capable of running 4H on bitumen since 1984 - and they weren't a new idea then. There are a number of serious disadvantages to electronic parking brakes, and it isn't on point for price against its competition, especially considering these shortcomings. And in any case, I've made my decision. YMMV

    A wireless charger where the phone storage is should be included and I hope the reverse sensors are more sensitive in this model.

    Have you heard about the major AC problem in Thailand where the back AC blower and tubes would condensation up and would drop water from the ceiling? Isuzu never came out and make a proper statement about it but let the dealers remedy it by taking out the bottom tube and blower cover but without putting on a cover on the blower. I saw it and it was lazy and sloppy fix. Many Thai owners are dissatisfied. Link. บทสรุป มหากาพย์ น้ำแอร์หยดบหลังคาตอนหลังใน ALL NEW ISUZU Mu-X ...

    Agricultural part time 4x4, no thank you. Towing on wet or vaguely uneven surfaces is best served by modern day 4x4 systems that allow 4x4 on any surface.
    With such old architecture it should be $10k cheaper until they can develop or buy a modern day transfer case system like Mitsubishi uses. Only a 6 speed auto? More 10 year old out dated technology.
    50kW/litre? Ford gets 75kW/litre and a 10 speed auto.
    Isuzu should have fixed these things instead of making a design cline of the Everest body.

      I’m in the same boat. I went the other way. Last year, picked up 2010 Q5 (2.0tdi) with 55,000km for $18k. While I don’t do a lot of 4x4, I stuck General At/3s/Towbar on it and blown away how many places I’ve been able to reach. On way home after trip around AU and managed to get across Gibb river and savannah way with jetski behind me. While I got towed out once on gibb river, not bad considering I only spent 20k all up with some storage and the AWD tradition control on those old cars is amazing. I’m probably sell it for 14-15k and get another likeminded vehicle. So over spending 65k on a car that only does a little bit more that cars 25% of the cost.

      These isuzu's will last a long time, and although the engines doesn't have a high torque figure, it has it extremely low down, and all across the board. It is a 'lazy' motor, so it is never being pushed which is good for longevity. Mind you, I think they should be pushing these engines further as a custom tune completely changes the car with significantly more power, making it drive more like a car.
