    It is a great car indeed, I drive Gregory's (he is my son) car now and then. So, he has got the Alfa-virus too. Both our sons received (after graduation for their drivers-license) an Alfa Romeo from me. Every petrol-head should have had an Alfa. Well, Greg was hooked to the Alfa brand at once, the other son felt for the Germans. I had the 155 and 164 Busso and many other Alfas in the old days. Now, I am aiming for a 166 3.2 Busso again. Wow, what a car!

    Feels like the Busso wasn’t done yet in terms of top speed, one more gear to go... I’ve had the 3.2 version and that would run outside of the speedo, so past 260 km/h, by a fair bit. Really surprising performance from a luxury sedan.

    Great video! Great car. Busso’s trick was making an engine look like an engine instead of a Power Rangers torso. No other car for this price has anything so visually impressive under the bonnet and neither do plenty of more expensive, high performance cars. 166 looks amazing in black too with black interior. There are couple things wrong. In fact 166 was never prone to rust and it holds very well. 155, 156, 147... these were rusty after couple of years but that is not the case for 166. Even today only neglected or crashed ones are rusty.
    Other thing is that gear shift - that is broken mate! Like really broken and it probably will disintegrate and just stop changing gears any minute. Well preserved 166 has really smooth and precise gearshift, this one is broken.
    Also it looks like this car has broken suspension - that rear camber looks off and that is common problem of 166. Especially rear suspension suffers for worn uni ball joints and that is what owner of this car decided to make even worse by putting those stupidly large wheels. This will eventually lead to bulging of front strut towers and it is not doing any good to this car.

    The 2 liter naturally aspirated Twin Spark was a 4 cylinder 16 valves, not a V6. It was built in the Pratola Serra plant, southern Italy. The 2.0 turbo was a V6 Busso turbocharged. The horn doesn't seem stock, I've never heard that trumpet in Alfa 166

    I have an 05 156 SW and getting certain parts for that is hard enough. In Australia the 166 is quite rare and I imagine parts again, will be hard to find. It's a shame, I love these cars.

    The 3.2 Busso in the 156/147 GTA’s were different from the 3.2 Busso in the GTV, GT, and 166. The 3.2’s in the GTA cars had slightly different cam profiles, higher compression ratio, and different fuel maps for 250 HP, and slightly more torque, but the most important difference was that the GTA engines were hand assembled in the Maserati engine plant.

    Hi! Do you think that in the future cars with gasoline and diesel engines will disappear from their production? I hope not! 😖😭😪

    • @VlerkeDamne
      @VlerkeDamne 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They will, sadly, but it's not for the next few years. Some car manufacturers are already slowely edging towards electric only. Volkswagen wants half of it's production to be electric by 2030. Volvo wants to be FULLY electric by 2030.
      But the second hand market will still have a massive supply of diesel and gasoline cars for many decades to come. Europe might go full electric in the next 100 years, but the rest of the world wont follow instantly. Pretty much how history goes, Europe does something, rest of the world thinks wtf, few years later they follow the example of Europe.

    • @dwade3202
      @dwade3202 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      its all just political propaganda... theres no way we are going electric. no charging infrastructure and cars have 300 km range max. nobody wants that shit lol. and anyway they aren't even eco friendly when you factor in how much electricity we would need and build infrastructure which is worth billions of euros. there's no way its happening, they're just pushing EVs because they wanna put the blame for the eco disaster on regular people and not the big corporations... which will only profit with EVs too cuz they can charge a shit ton of money for everything. 1 cruise ship pollutes as much as 1 million cars, so cars are the problem right ? please, all just a big show for the world.
