I was thinking the same, then double checked the video, when the speedo is at 330 the GPS is at 315. Impressive for the horsepower how fast this car gets up to that speed.

Yes 315 kmh is still very good for ~550 hp. For instance Audi RS6 performance with 630hp and 850Nm struggle to hit that speed.
The V10 M cars really became totally different beasts on the top end. Unmatched.

Yeah that looks way faster than it is advertised. I wouldn't be surprised if that engine is stroked out to 5.2L.

As we watch before our own eyes the Cubanization of the whole automotive industry, the cars built in the early 21st century will probably go down in History as the pinnacle of the art.
As more and more people see cars as electric appliances that will save us all from doom, this will leave the motoring art form to the enthusiastic part of our society.
This M6 is one of those epic vehicles that in 50 years will probably be a museum piece, with it's truly bonkers V10, utter violent gearbox and dismal fuel consumption ❤❤ those were the days and we lived through them without knowing.
Love the work in this channel, only the Dutch could do it and those shots from the bridge are a fantastic idea as it gives a sense of scale. Was it the first time on the show? I don't remember watching them here before.

One of the few cars that look better with body modifications. Grand effects, mirrors, roof, wing, wheels and etc. (Carbon) Looks like a 2008 car without them. One of BMWs nicest looking vehicles in the correct setup.
These were great years for cars and engines! Now we are in a different ballgame!

The ditching of V10s is a crime
and somehow nowadays it would need 800 hp in such a car to reach 330 kmh.
somehow "old" HP feels much more effective then "new" HP.
That’s because this is a v10 👻
It's because we're artificially inflating the numbers with forced aeriation (turbos and superchargers). Basically we're using more air instead of fuel.
That, and just everything is so god damn heavy these days. (EVs especially, but did you see the weight of the new M5 Touring?)
Older cars - especially german ones - werent geared for efficiency or traffic light bullshit, they were geared towards Autobahn driving, thats why older cars are so strong up top. Nowadays cars have 10 gears and they are all geared towards acceleration in the lower gears.
Mate, top speed depends on a lot of things. Downforce, wider tyres for example usually dont help. Also that 330km/h what you saw, is more like 315 but I guess objectivity isnt your strongest suit

Got the one of this car at my garage in Poland, but with the US custom exhaust which sound different. Its wild in this car that with FI exhaust u got screaming clean,, Brilliant make different sound like more metalic and my us pipes make more bass sound. That a cool, best engine by me so far if you can afford to keep it clean

Every speedo on every European car built in the last 30 years or so is 'optimistic' because that's in EU law. Most laws state the speedo can NEVER read slower than what you are travelling. in order to make sure at all times that doesn't happen they overestimate speed by about 5 percent or a little more. Normal. The difference between new and old tyres for example makes up for several percent because old tyres are of course several millimetres smaller and that affects the speed reading!
