@@bazmeredith actually baz ive a puzzle for you if you dont mind trying to help. my dad has a 2006 volvo xc70 2.4 diesel. the buttons for the electric windows at the drivers door crack through time and he asked me to get replacements. without looking too much into it i got the part number of the module and got a unit from ebay which happened to come off an xc90. unfortunately the module didnt work in his car. i tried taking the buttons off to swap over but they dont fit. vovlo want 400 odd quid plus vat plus 50 programming for a new module, now that aint happening. so my question....the programming scanner tool that you use, do you know if that would programme the xc90 module to work in the xc70 or is it a case that once they are programmed thats it you cant re-programme it, as i would rather spend the money on the scan tool and have a great peice of kit i can use over and over than give the money to volvo. thanks for any input you can give me

Great job again Baz, seeing as you are doing so many of these, you could get a piece of Perspex and drill out your template for your timing cover bolts, just something a bit more permanent. Laser will probably bring one out!. I'm the same when it comes to putting my tools away after a job, I need to confirm I have them all. One question, the old belt looked like it had wandered on the cam pulleys towards the timing cover end, was that the "natural" position or had you moved it? (about 5:45 into the video)

Why are manufacturers making life so difficult?
Because these aren't supposed to be repaired!
They're designed to fail at low mileage, this way, people have to buy a new car.
It's great for turnover, but not for the consumer.
Imagine an engine that fails within five years, or less. 🤔
