I know it's strange, but I find it so much more satisfying to watch this than some Ferrari barn find.
And I find it super satisfying to work on these little nuggets! 😁👍
Was literally about to write this word for word… 😂
Well said. I am in the US but subscribed for a time to a British car magazine called Practical Classics. It was hugely entertaining, and was aimed at the owners and restorers of cars that the working man could afford.
Maybe it's the idea that we could do it, that's drawing us in. I always feel that the guys with the high end cars are slightly more about the flex, than the resto bit.
Because it's so honest...
So happy to see 90's econoboxes that usually thrown into scrapyard gets restored!! keep up the good work!!!
There's just something so fulfilling about fixing cars like these! 💪😁
I think you underestimate the amount of work and money it is to do what was done in this video. It's still a great deal, considering the initial price of the car, and one hell of an awesome job. Really impressed to see what came out of it
But realistically, if you did this on a more "regular setting", you'd be spending weeks and unreal amounts of money for a car that was designed to be extremely basic and cheaply assembled... I'm not entirely sure it was "worth it" for a Corsa C
@@ejoautovideos salve, ma i prodotti per pulire la mia auto dove li trovo? Il sito grazie
It has gone from worthless to priceless
@@PlaysGames11Better than modern low end trash cars. Once fixed, it is reliable and does not have much costs, whereas the modern car requires a lot of maintenance with issues only the dealer can fix alongside electronic faults, poorly (over)engineered expensive mechanical components and poorly designed to be worked on by mechanics. Also heavier weight so more expensive insurance and road tax.
This kind of video is so much better than what 90% of channels do now. I don't want to see another expensive car getting expensive parts, I'm tired of seeing people buy a cheap but working car only to try and kill it. This is the best car video I've seen in quite some time
Thank you so much, that means a lot! 🙏😊
I honestly kinda hate this throwaway society sometimes. So many perfectly functional cars that just need a little bit of work are now considered "worthless".
I think the main issue is that many of these don't have basic 'modern' safety features, like ABS or airbags. That may deter them becoming hand-me-downs, or make parents shopping for a car for their kid not to consider them. But still, they'd beat walking.
@@MattExzyIt has both...
they are the best cars for me
@@MattExzy simple solution to that just don't crash 🤣
I don't like throwing away things either but not everyone has the time, tools or space, my partner tried to daily an 80s Audi coupe GT. Eventually lack of certain parts availability put paid to that with the frequency things would need replacing. There's only so much you can do when living in a flat with street parking or renting a council garage where people would moan.
Here in Brazil, the Corsa is considered an iconic car, it was manufactured between 1993 and 2014! It's still a joy for younger people to this day, even a 2000 Corsa was my first car!
It's a great little car! 👍
and the parts are very cheap.
Verdade, tenho um corsa C sedan 1.4 como primeiro carro há mais de 10 anos. Por enquanto sem interesse de trocar de carro....
Yes, it's a very beautiful and economical car. It's my dream car.
It was my father's first car. He always get happy when we see a red corsa in the street.
There is nothing better then videos of restoring old cars back to life, no matter the make. So satisfying!
i'll always stand by the fact that old cars are worth keeping around for so many reasons. they're cooler, easier to maintain, so much cheaper, and have worlds more soul than any new car.
Modern vauxhalls literally decide when its time to accelerate *after* you put your foot down. Its weird and a bit scary. I guess its for safety or longevity/efficiency or something, but I hate the amount of computer tech thats in cars after around 2014.
You are quite right. The main downside is emissions. Modern Euro6 engines do put out a lot less pollution. If you don't do large mileages, there is a lot to be said for keeping a car like this well-maintained.
I’m an aircraft mechanic, I really enjoy seeing videos like this. It reminds my how I also use so much time and money restoring old cheap cars to high standards😅
It’s just so satisfying saving cars like this from the scraps.
Keep up the good work!
Same here colleague 😎 the way i say it is, if you can fix a plane, you can fix a car! Brings so much joy to work on them old bangers and get them back to a good condition.
A 'worthless' car that gets you around is the best thing to have! No depreciation!
Yeah, but it is worthless for a reason. If you care about amenities or safety, this is not for you.
@@worldhello1234 question is how do you use your car and how much do you value your and your family lives. Life is an art of trade-off.
I have a Corsa once in my life and it was really a great and an economical car
@@sLim88CPC That is a good question! If safety is absolute priority, then you should always drive the newest, largest SUV!
@@worldhello1234 my fiat stilo 2002 cost me 200e so basivly i paid for just the tires.
Its has airconditioning, it has cruise control, it has some tech in the seatbelts, it has multistage airabags for driver and passanger. It has airbags for rear seats and even think it has airbags for you sides.😂
What else should it have to be "not worthless"
I had exactly the same model, red, 5 doors, mine was a 1.0 12v from 98 or 99, was a world cup edition. It was imported from Germany around 2013 and it was in my family until 2018 or so. I had the same problems, throttle body was dirty, gearbox was full of oil. Otherwise besides normal service i changed one sender pump unit, one camshaft sensor. Also my rear axle broke exactly under the left side spring holder. I was doing some offroad but nothing extreme. I had to weld it back. 😁 The car it’s still on the road, my father sold the car in our city, the new owner it’s happy with her.
Remember when this car managed to start at -27 C in hard Romanian winter but the idle motor was giving high rev to the engine, around 2000 rps intermitently. At least it’s was starting. Good old times.
Now i have a 1.2 Corsa D from 2011. The gearbox it’s covered in oil already. 😂
My family has been driving Opel cars for 26 years here in Germany. They all will leak oil at some point, but if you take care of these "boring" cars, they will happily soldier through rough daily use.
My first car was a 2000 Corsa, it was a sedan model that was only created here in Brazil, if you don't know it, it's worth a look!
These Opel Corsa's are beasts. No matter the abuse they always soldier through. If you're on a tight budget or if you are just buying your first car. You can't go wrong with a Corsa. Either the B or the C.
My first car was a 2000 Corsa, it was a sedan model that was only created here in Brazil, if you don't know it, it's worth a look!
My 1st car is a Corsa D and I love it
@@RJ-x In Brazil we only had the Corsa B and C, of the Corsa B we had the station wagon and sedan version, of the Corsa C we had the Montana pickup truck.
For those who like Corsa, it's great to do research to see different models.
Agree. I had a 1.5l diesel version when I was 18, took so much abuse, I ferried my brother's band around in it, drove it to festivals, all sorts. The engine was an absolute unit- outlived the body haha
Started up this entire past winter no matter how cold it was! 👍
There is nothing worthless about that red nugget
if it works, it works. but anyway, many of this models were junk like half my life ago already.
Q Old things are also very beautiful
After you own one, you simply fall in love with its simplicity.
Me too
onya mate
I had an Opel Corsa, "nomed Chevrolet Corsa" here in Brazil, I used it for 10 years, it was a great car, it met all the requirements, work, travel, tours, etc., I really like the Corsa, tks for video
I tend to forget that these are older and rare cars that need good care now. In Norway, i would reckon that every 4th car you’d see at some point would be an Opel. That was when this Corsa was new. Now these Opels are most gone, and the memory is what’s left. New Opel cars never managed to get quite the same market position. So now Opels are more rare than ever in Norway. (That’s how i experience it). So these cars are an important part of history that needs care. Love to see you do this on an Opel. My father had an old Opel Omega A. I have a special relationship towards older Opels, so i love to see you take care of one.
Honestly, the only thing that separates a worthless old thing and an worthwhile old thing is time. Keep caring for it long enough and it will become as valuable as an oldtimer in the future and people will moan that we should have kept more around! Great job.
Not worthless at all. I had a Corsa 1.5TD a few years back that I got free. Drove it for 4 years on a mixture of paraffin, cooking oil and red diesel and it only needed a couple of shock absorbers. Wrecked it when I hit a badger
For the past 8 years I've driven a 2001 Passat TDI Estate that cost me £160. I get parts cheap from a "new old stock" shop on ebay. Cheap motoring is great
Yeah, people say daft things like 'you can't run a car for less than GBP 6000/yr' when you really can if you know how to spanner. At some point we are going to have to get all those stinky old diesels off the roads, at least in urban areas, much as I love them from a spannering and engineering simplicity point of view.
I've finally got rid of my 26-yr old 1997 Euro 2 diesel, and it's pretty dramatic how much cleaner the new one is (in exchange for enormous complexity, and great expense if things break).
I had a UK version of this car, did a lot of my own servicing to that car. So good to see one going and what can be done to keep them running. While they might be considered worthless, they offer people a cost effective means to get from A to B. Great to to watch, you have a real attention to detail, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! 🙏
your corsa is so grateful that you payed that much amount of time fixing it, I think no one would spend this much time and money on a corsa but I can't imagine how happy that little car is
I am really glad you’re doing this. It justifies my driving/maintaining a 1993 MX5 Mazda Miata as a daily. Of course, living in California we have minimal issues with rust.
I also have an old shitbox and I love to fix something cheap that nobody notice except me. I really appreciate your work and your attention for any detail. This car deserves attention and she had it. Good job, I appreciate it, keep it up!
Thank you so much! 🙏
Honestly seeing 90's econo shitboxes in prime condition will get my attention over triple digit priced supercars any day. Shows the owner has taste / Mechanical ability and interesting character.
I love the car community: You have a video of a BMW M2 on a dyno, but its get stomped in views by a video of chill Corsa B maintenance😅
Love it! I subscribed!
you are doing a really good job fixing old cars, and i think i speak for all people when i say we love reviving old cars. Wish you would upload more often
I own a 2007 Corsa D 1.3CDTI Z13DTJ 75HP. My first and only car for now, I am the second owner. Bought it in 2014, this year I'll be owning it for 10 years, and it's in its 17th year of life. I am driving it daily. Watching your video makes me appreciate it even more! 👍
The Opel Corsa B is far from worthless. There's a reason you still see it around in this day and age, it is one of the most durable European cars of the 90's and sheer indestructible
8:21 the red paint of the engine bay really pops versus the externals! That’s some intense fade over the years
Which makes me really hyped for the detailing video! 😁
I had a first gen corsa with this exact level of paint fade. Makes me exited for the exterior detailing, since mine came back really well with just hand polishing
@@fridtjofriibe5961
Same here but with a face-lift Nova (Corsa A). Took some polishing!
It has been known for decades that all red paint finishes are UV sensitive and fade after years.
Old Opels have the perk of being completely repairable for absolutely free. At least 7 out of 10 times only some elbowgrease is needed 💪
The attention to detail in this restoration is incredible. Kudos to the team for bringing this classic back to life
I think every city in Europe was full of these - often in that faded red lol. Usually they weren't looked after and were run into the ground. Nice to see how well they can polish up. Question is whether it's worth doing. Still fun to watch it being done. :)
I would say it is worth it. An old car like this can still take you wherever you want to go, and it could easily outlast anything in production today with proper maintenance. The throwaway mentality too many people have is really what kills perfectly serviceable old cars, and it makes you wonder: when have you last seen one in good condition?
It's not really rare yet in Europe
I love the kind of work you do here. The fancy “barn find clean up” videos always stop at the surface but I’d rather have it the other way around - get the crucial mechanics right first, then polish. Love it!
Glad you like it, that's how I think as well 👍
I had an old and very surface rusted Corsa B swing 1.4l. I actually really miss that car as just a reliable old grocery getter. But they've gotten almost impossible to find here in Iceland now. Good job restoring this one
These cars are under rated for how easy they are to work on. Had one as a first car, basically learned how to do everything on one of these
All things considered the Corsa B is a very reliable little car. They drive quite nice if maintained, are easy to repair and cheap to operate as well. Back in the day every second learner started in one of these. Rust is the only issue they have, really.
They don't build simple cars like this anymore. So I think it's great to keep it around. Especially in this day and age. Driving this thing is way more enviromentally friendly than constructing a modern car which is way heavier, larger and contains way more plastics and electronics. Because every car nowadays needs to be a driving infotainment system with at least 150HP. What ever happend to small cars with like 45 or 60 HP, a radio and maybe a sun roof or AC.
'More environmentally friendly' is a complicated matter, trading off manufacturing emissions, greenhouse emissions and local pollution, and indeed other forms of transport (e-bikes, public transport). We do need to move on from fossil cars sooner rather than later, but exactly what is 'most environmentally friendly' depends on the circumstances. By far the best is arrange things so people can walk/bike/car-club/bus/train and we just don't need so many cars, both parked and in use. And the remaining cars will almost all be electric. You are quite right about the pointless complexity of most modern vehicles. There is lots of demand for simple, relatively cheap transport.
I'm brazilian, happy owner of a corsa (here with chevrolet brand)
my car is 2001 model, it's so nice to see corsa content!
I know is not the same car, but my father had an 1995 opel astra caravan 1.4 that have run 315.000 km without problems. Another thing i noticed is the wheels bearing never went bad even the payload sometimes was over the limit. The only thing he replaced were the brake pads, battery, wipers, oil, filters, tyres, pivots.. i mean.. it was a saving machine
Whoa... That engine bay looked FABULOUS even after just a rinse! It's amazing how little is needed to make it look awesome again
The attention to detail and level of finish you've done here is both incredible and inspiring. Cleaning and painting everything makes such a big difference. The engine bay is like show quality when you're finished. Well done keep up the good work 👏
Thank you so much my friend! 😊
I got a pre facelift model ^^ this felt so satisfying to watch. Thanks. Definitly great, straight to the point showing with hands-on experience and important side-notes! This way anyone can follow along do it properly thanks very much mate. Very helpful. As I can't get the life of me get it do die. And made my first mechanical achivements with a engine like this such as replacing the thermostat on that one.
I love that these cars are so accessible to work on compared to the VW i previously owned. Compared to the more sophisticated engine the 1.8T these are really easy to maintain. As you have plenty of space to work arround most stuff.
Yet to say booth are nice engines and are reliable while one will have more appeal when it comes to power surge. But I like that you opted for a facelift 4-cylinder engine. With DOHC instead of the pre-facelift one for repairs. And gave it such thorugh detail on each part, replacing the seals. Love that attention to detail!
As the facelift is easier to obtain probably is favored a lot more by other people. The actual process of replacing the theromstat housing on my pre-facelift was equally hard as you have to take off the timing belt in order to proceed. I get why the previous owner probably did not wanna do that.
I know what it's like to spend money on something "worthless"... I just bought a 1995 Renault 19 RN for €330!! The car is in good condition, but with a lot of mechanical work to do... People say it's worthless. But for me, it's worth A LOT!
Love my Renaults! Good luck with the project, the 19 looks awesome!
Haven't seen one in a long time, hope you get it up and running
It's in a good shape! The paint is rough, but no rust. The major problem: electric... as usual on french cars...
@@gulfstream7235 I hope that too... LOL!
Exactly, and that's what was I meant with the title also, that other people might think it' worthless. But not me! 😁👍
I learned to drive in a 1994 Vauxhall Corsa B.
BSM (British School of Motoring) had a fleet of them.
Lovely to see this being cared for, so many have been thrown away,
In England we have an annual car event called the "Festival of the Unexceptional" which is a car show at a country house dedicated to the sorts of cars that people don't save. This would be a huge favourite and you should definitely consider coming over on the ferry with your Corsa for it!
That's a really cool concept! Wish there were something like that here in Sweden...
We NEED more people like you doing this instead of people just giving in and buying a crappy, over-priced EV , carry on doung what you are doing 👍👍👍👍👍♥️
I have a 32 years old Astra, 1.8 GSI, spectralblau, roof windows, mirror warmers, electric windows, everything still works and from the factory.... The cutest oldtimer around:) Fully made in Germany and Belgium, meaning that every part of it is really well made. Only the speakers were changed to full JBL sets, from the old Blaupunkt.
Here in Latin America those cars are still everywhere.
It was a very reliable and cheap car.
Nice! Unfortunately a lot of these cars have been scraped here in Sweden because of the rust from the salty roads in the winter. :/
I used to have a Corsa 1.6 Sport back in the day that had many modifications, it went like a rocket and took corners like it was glued to the road. Most fun small car I've ever owned.
I still have my 16 sport just had new engine rebuild I love it
@@countmurcielago9802 I am so jealous right now lol
This is nice to see. I've spent obscene amounts of money on cars others consider "throw-aways". That term is alien to me.
An oil analysis on my 86 Olds Calais came back showing I was getting antifreeze in my oil and let to replacement of the head just a few years ago. Worth it? I love the car. Cheaper than a new car payment.
Good work.
This is the sort of car I'd walk across a show field to see.
Time is more valuable than money. Older cars still provide same perks as new ones. With better reliability on many occasions due to mechanical simplicity.
Yes, true 👍
Nice work man. Opel Corsa B is highly underrated in my opinion, almost everything can be fixed pretty fast und cheap - a perfect daily driver. And I bet it will survive longer than many modern cars...
For sure! 💪
Not even Opel put this much effort when building this car. Respect, man!!!
I come from a higher upper class family. Where i live having money makes people think you sell drugs. Instead of getting a 20k eur car that makes cops to stop you daily i got a junked A170 w169 A class and then i redid everything at home garage, paid 1700EUR for the car and 3800EUR in parts. Took me 3 weeks of work (i bought all the workshop tools for the a class, engine and frame holder etc) The car is probably the most well functioning A class in Serbia

Way better than all these supercar channels!
Here in brazil we see a lot of those Opel Corsas branded as Chevrolet, they seem to last forever with minimum maintenance. The advantage is that there is almost no eletronics to break like in modern cars.
The Vauxhall/Opel Corsa B has clearly had excellent maintenance in its lifetime. the engine was not dirty inside. even the cooling system was not clogged or rusty. Most of the parts you are replacing are most likely the original factory parts.

Actually the coolant was dirty with lots of tiny particals (hard to see on camera) so I'm really glad that I flushed it out 👍

I miss my Opel Corsa, it was a 99 coupé, 1.4 sport with a/c, power steering, and abs, it was only with me for 1.5 years, it caught on fire while it was parked during a morning while I was working.
So glad to see someone appreciate and keep on the road this kind of cars.
I miss small cars on the road, tired of egg shaped SUVs
The way things are unrepairable nowadays, this makes lots of sense. I have a 2004 1.4 16v Polo thats like new. I'm second owner, bought it from an old chap in Liverpool who hardly used it in 2016 with 13k on it. It was like showroom condition and still is, looked after it and done whatever it needed. Just over 63k now and NO plans to get rid for anything else, reliable as they come.
It's not worthless! It's really nice to see otherwise forgotten cars receiving attention. These little cars may not be fast, but they are certainly suitable as daily drivers. In fact, the same Corsa B structure was used in Brazil until 2012. Really nice work!
You're 100% correct my friend! 👍
Great motors. I brought a Corsa for $150 spent about $200 on it replace timing chain wheels headlights and used it for 4 years and sold it for $650 and the woman still using it today😊
Great job mate! So cool to watch you giving that car some love. That’s how you build a relationship with it right? Looks like a great car to work on. Learn a lot from fixing an old car. Can be likened to using a compass to navigate through the bush rather than just blindly following the GPS.
Thank you! Yes I've always been drawn to working on little nuggets like these. They're so much fun to work on! 👍
No corners cut for a quick flip gets my like for the algorithm!
A superb job. Great to see older cars getting the special treatment 😇
27-year-old engine? I always fitted Bosche "4-spark" sparkplugs. Started first time, every time. And really helps to increase the KpL, as well as keeping the exhaust gases at a lower level.
Love your attention to detail, you can never need too much extra cleaning 💪
I just found this video and by conincidence I was doing the same with an "worthless" €400 Renault Clio MK1, this video is inspiration for my own work. Thanks you so much
Awesome! Thank you for watching and commenting 😊👍

The Corsa B generation used to be pretty common here in greece, it has now become rare to see one or two per week
You definitely have the Latin American spirit with cars. beautiful Opel Corsa (in my country; México, it was known as Chevrolet Chevy Swing in its first versions). greetings and success!
I love that you spent this effort on a car like this, I've spent a life time keeping older 'unwanted' cars on the road but lately the unavailability of simple but critical spares has made it much harder. One comment I would make is if you're thinking of keeping it change to waterless coolant, it completely destresses these older cooling systems.
43min video? Let's go!!!!
I've been fixing an old nissan maxima from 2002. it was the shittiest car I have ever owned, but slowly it is turning into a proper car. Fixing old cars is so satisfying, you really see the results of your work.

Just came back from the handout, and you dropped a video about the Corsa? LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Cars like this in europe are still fetching good money, it's just the uk thats killed the car market with everyone on pcp/finance
Cheers from the Croatia. You're doing great stuff with this car. In my country they would say "You're an idiot wasting money on this shitbox, you could save the money and buy something better"... Some people just don't understand the enjoyment on this and how relaxing it is. Just leave me alone to do what i love till i am young and healthy.
Thank you! And trust me, there are many people here in Sweden as well that would say the same thing unfortunately.

It's great to see someone else enjoying these Corsas. I'm on my second one (E) and I've never had an issue that I couldn't fix myself with either one. Never broken down etc and they would do any jorney I throw at it. I once did a 600 mile round trip and the only thing it asked for was petrol. Just recently had to replace the Catalytic Convertor at over 90k miles with my second one and shes runs great.
given the price of new cars, there is no "worthless" car to repair anymore. Maintaining an old car is the right thing to do
Absolutely 👍

Great stuff. Love how you clean the surfaces every chance you get. Very satisfying to watch
Thanks!
Here in the States, they haven't sold Opel here in decades. I believe the last one they sold was in 1974. I would have loved to have this car in the States, but GM never makes any good decisions that last long. Lastly, I have never seen a cleaner TH-cam mechanic. Excellent work!
What a comprehensive work. Thanks for the video. Also wondering about body polishing procces.
SO satysfing to give an older car the attention to detail doing the little things making it look new i love it
Lovely work - you are so neat and precise!

Really good video, I learnt mechanics from my Father. You work very precisely like him. Your a pleasure to watch. Very proffessional videos.
very satisfying that you take time to clean and paint parts that don't need replacing i own a MK3 Ford Focus ST Wagon and every time i take a part off for repacement or service i like to clean the whole area and tackle some dirt spots that i might otherwise go untreated or are out of reach otherwise
Exactly! Takes longer, but well worth the extra effort 👍
Min farmor har en exakt likadan, som hon älskar. Den håller på att ge upp så är definitivt intresserad den dagen du vill sälja den.
This guy's enigne bays are no-joke cleaner than most peoples enteriors LOL.
😂👍
Why are you saying this Opel is worthless? It's actually now a classic, 20+ years old. This will only increase in value in the next few years. Doing all this work will increase its value even more.
I'm not saying it. That's why I've written the word with quotation marks " " -as in other people might think so but the video shows that it is in fact not worthless.
It depends on how desirable the car was and is. 70s and 80s Japanese econoboxes cost around 3000€, while old Fiat 500 start at 8000€. It's a gamble.
Brilliant video, well done. All the steps you take are clearly explained, easily understood, and great to watch.
Also, the quiet background music is a joy, instead of the usual loud annoying screaming guitar music so common nowadays.
The whole process is a pleasure to watch,if only other TH-camrs would take note, that often less is more.
Thank you so much for taking us along on this journey to breathe new life into this old, well loved car. You have a new subscriber!
Thank you so much, it means a lot!
*THIS* is how you save the environment; keep old cars in good condition, working at maximum efficiency, and use them for as long as it's economically viable for you. *NOT* by throwing them in the bin and buying brand new EVs, made from parts shipped across the planet in freighters, powered by batteries with lithium mined by child-labourers.
I love this series. For me as a viewer it's interesting (& calming) & for people who are cars enthusiasts, it's valuable content.
When I hear what people pay today for monthly car payment & insurance for new vehicles... 😬
We're in recession (+ some kind of Malaise era 2.0) so cheap, simple, low maintenance cars make a lot of sense to me.
I'm a gen X: We drove those things for 20 years for a reason.
This was really entertaining and of good quality, thank you! Look forward to the next one
Thanks buddy! Love your M2 content on your channel 😁👍
Amazing work man and also very informative. So satisfying to witness this little butter box car getting the love it deserves. Definitely subbed 👍🏽
